  1. That's gone to the supreme court hasn't it? Govt wanted to make agreement without putting it to a parliamentary vote, were challenged in the high court and lost but have appealed and we're waiting for the result of that; though didn't Thatcher 2.0 suggest in her speech the other day that she would go to the house? May be wrong, been a bit off planet in recent weeks .

She did say that, problem being in her scenario is that once she implements article 50 we have only two years to try and negotiate a deal, so her team and herself spend twenty three months thrashing out a deal, she then goes to parliament with her deal parliament vote against her deal.

Where do we go from there no time left to 're-negotiate so it has to be excepted or we're out the door with no deal, that's how I see it but may be totally wrong.

  2. What would be fairer is a snap election so the electorate could have a say on which party and leader they felt could best negotiate the exit deal that was in our best interest.

To me that is just as important as the exit or remain vote, because I for one can't remember saying I would be happy with Theresa May having the final say over our exit strategy.

  3. Reading the Robles thread and considering how it has disintegrated has lead back to here.

There is no misunderstanding, I very much dislike "our previous manager", the waste, the atrocious football, the laughable excuses, the amateurism. Be under no illusions, Koeman had a massive task on his hands getting to grips with the laughing stock left to him, I didn't like the public nature of how he hung certain players out to dry, I didn't like his seeming inability to trust a few other players in a poorly performing side, that said, he has moved players on with little fuss, and importantly started to play some of the youth prospects in the ranks, better yet after a seeming eternity of fluid setups has dropped on a formation that the players have adapted to quickly, and is starting to look like producing consistent results.

Against him is his alleged stubbornness, his highly undiplomatic nature, and the time it took to see a few obvious changes needed to happen. (Lump in a couple of meek cup exits too if you must)

In his favour, he has turned the fortunes of the side and some badly performing players around, eventually got a system to use with the players at his disposal, and although it took months to trust some of the youth players - he is continuing to do so and has thrown Lookman in as soon as possible. Initially trusted Stek but has rewarded Robles with a run due to improving form.

A few results don't make a season, but the tide may have turned and with first teamers to return (Gueye, Bolasie) and one to get fit (Schneiderlin) he has improved options to involve. Slowly his high workrate, move the ball quickly system, is starting to take shape - as is the squad. There'llbe a few bumps along the way but this season could still be a huge success and we could end up getting a shot at the europa league next season too.

It was painful getting into the sick mess "our previous manager" dragged us down into, it would be naive to think it wouldn't hurt pulling ourselves out of that pit of despair.

Lets see what Koeman and Walsh can conjure before the window closes and then what improvements can be seen on matchdays. The healing has begun, maybe the worst of it is behind us.

I buy into most of that not all, don't agree with the comments about Martinez being to blame for the games Koeman's been in charge of whether we've lost drawn or won makes no difference.
  4. I don't know if this was aimed at me or just a general point but I don't think it is unfair to say that Koeman is only doing things that a lot of people have been begging for.

As someone else has pointed out, this isn't a massively different team to the one we had last year and yet we have only just snapped into some sort of philosophy. We have seen him play around, switch people in and out, get players to do things they aren't really suited to before almost going back to the type of football we did against Spurs.

I completely get that he is a manager in a new job and getting to grips with his squad and it may even be that he doubted himself and the squad a little after our early success.

Koeman should definitely be getting credit for playing this system as it does seem to suit the guys we have in the starting 11 and the squad. Im very happy to see that he is trusting the young lads and that in return they are rewarding his trust. Long may it continue!

I'd like to think most people would echo that, he's learning things about his players strengths and in turn the players are learning how he wants them to play.

And this could be the start of things coming together, feeling very positive again instead of suicidal.

  5. I would expect him to keep his place for a few more games. If Schneiderlin wants to play he will probably take Barry's place. Then Gana will have to come in and play better than one of them to get his place back.

Our midfielders will need to be bang in form to get a game now.

I agree with that it would be a travesty to drop Davies for Schneiderlin or Gana the way he's playing, hopefully Koeman not that stupid is he.
  6. It's not stupidity, maybe it has had some affect but I fully expect Gana to come back and improve us further in February- after all he's been our stand out player up to now.

Unfortunately, it seems you can't see past your dislike for Koeman and see this as the only answer when many have pointed out a number of other factors which have clearly contributed. Get over it and enjoy your last few months on the forum as Koeman is beginning shape this team and we're clearly moving in the right direction on and off the pitch.

Thing with Gana he looked the man in a team that was playing badly, but he was bordering on terrible the last 2 games before ACON when others were showing massive improvement, so if you think he should walk straight back into a winning team who you going to drop Davies or Barry, and then you've got Schneiderlin knocking on the door.

If there playing well and the teams winning leave it till it breaks, Gana has know right to walk straight back into the team.

  7. He didnt write that. And injuries/ACON have certainly shaped the team that are winning right now.

And its basically the team that was always here, no Stekkers, Bolasie, Gana or Valencia.

Robles has proved himself along with Mori, Davies and Holgate, will he change them to fit in his own signings of Gana and Schneiderlin, interesting times a head in the next couple of weeks.

  8. I read some absolute garbage on here. And elsewhere too. Some real shambolic shit.

I hope those who kept the faith are enjoying this, because I can guarantee there are a bunch of people who are squirming at the moment.

That's bollocks mate I criticised koeman for his tactics and team selections and what's happening now makes me feel justified in what I've said, which was he inherited players much better than how they were playing under him, I was slated with the usual what do you expect with the shit Martinez left him there to old he brought all shit players, as the excuse for how bad we were playing.

The fact is that the last 2 games we have only started with one of his six signings in Williams, for me he's starting to get the system right and he's not swapping and changing as much.

So for all those who Newty feels contempt for isn't nice to know that when we said the players were better than we were playing we was right, now Koeman is seeing that as well and reaping the benefits by sorting the defence out the one thing Martinez was incapable of doing.

  9. 2-3 years ago but not now at 33 there's know long or mid term gain.

If we were looking like relegation prospects or pushing for a top 4 spot then fair enough get him in for the short term benefit he may offer, but it looks like we're finish mid table and he wouldn't improve on that if he came in.

We do need another experienced CB but someone around 28-29 to take over the mantle from Williams and Jags when they are finished in the next year or two.

  10. I wouldn't expect it to but Koeman hit the nail on the head in his interview when he said we had a good choice of substitues to choose from. That's the big factor, when you have Kone, Cleverley, Lennon and the likes on your bench you don't have much scope to work with.

He may not be the one to move us forward but he as to be given time and the things he's saying, the way he is mercilessly lashing all the shite that's stealing a living on massive wages and the players he is bringing in are enough for me to be happy he's here.

Your right, and putting the two new signings on the bench probably gave the rest of the lads the kick up the arse some of them have needed, and you could see the work rate massively improve, still need a couple more to make more fight for their positions and we could be on the move.
  11. You could pick anyone of five or six they were that good

In the end I went for Mirallas in my eyes he was brilliant worked hard to win the ball back when we lost it, when he had the ball took people on and got there defence running back to their own goal they couldn't handle him, and scored a cracking goal, when he was subbed it didn't matter he had already caused them massive damage and set the game up for us.

  12. The best performance as a whole team performance I've seen for along time from Robles to Rom, still can't take it all in, the way everyone worked for each other was fantastic.

When Davies scored it brought a tear to my eyes the emotion of seeing one of us score a goal of that quality got to me, and with the relief of the last few months washing away I had a bit of a moment.

    Fucking love this club

  13. I think if anything the vote has confused people even more. It has been very difficult to work out what is true and what is a half truth and what is complete bollocks. Sometimes I'm not sure the politicians are even sure.

Remain has certainly gone ahead but it was in the polls beforehand as well. Like you say polls don't mean as much as they used to. The "silent majority" that never gets sampled are the ones that seem to have the final say. Has anyone on here changed their opinion (either way)?

Tories (and Labour) are certainly losing power locally but I also think UKIP have seen an increase as well as the Lib Dems. I expect that will reverse when the bigger elections start rolling around again in a year or two.

No I haven't changed my opinion I voted remain and would again given the opportunity, but I know that won't happen.

What I want now is to get behind the best exit deal/plan that offers my children and grandchildren a stable and prosperous future, but what really concerns me is that the government responsible for taking us out aren't capable of getting the negotiations right, and are still scaremongering by there comments of its going to be financially tuff, but we haven't really been told anything has to on what deals they are proposing.

I think before we start article 50 we should have a general election so that we can have a say on which party has the best exit strategy and plans for the future.

  14. Scare tactics + outright lies v outright lies.

As I said, both side were economical with the truth.

John if the over 65s hadn't been allowed to vote the remain would have won, I can't help feeling that people who it has least effect on have possibly effected the future of those who are still setting out in life for a Britain they remember with nostalgia.
