I'd take Rodwell back. Ideally a loan deal with a view to a permanent if he impresses. I just remember the quality he had when he first came on the scene. Pace, strength, good in the air, two footed, incredibly composed on the ball. Never hoofed it for the sake of it, always looked for a blue shirt. I remember him coming on against Liverpool in that FA cup game and controlling the game. Everything went through him. Now for a 19 year old to do that in such an occassion was impressive and I remember thinking "wow, he's some player". Since then he's had injury problems and a move to a club where he really hasn't got a chance to break through. I think City signed him and Scott Sinclair just to up their English based players to register. A fit and healthy Rodwell (I know, big ask) under a coach like Martinez just screams YES at me. I honestly think Martinez could take him back to the level he once was and better. Two good seasons and he'd be back in the England fold in my opinion. As I said, I would like a loan to judge him on his first season with a view to buy. We need a squad next year, and Rodwell is someone I would take back in a heartbeat.

Agree to an extent but getting Caulker on the cheap now for the future is very good business in my opinion. Distin is 36, Jags 32 and Alcaraz is 31 so we need someone sooner rather than later. As you say though, still need to add players in quite a few positions. Hopefully the first of many!

Strong rumours on twitter that we're signing Steven Caulker for around 4 million. Thoughts? Big yes from me, especially at that price. Caulker the agressive CB who attacks the ball and Stones the ball playing CB. Sounds good.

Really excited now! 3 games every night after work, happy bloody days! Hope it lives up to the hype though, was really disappointed with the standard of the World Cup in South Africa. Regarding top scorers, favourite has to be one of the Argentine front 3 (messi, aguero, higuain). They play so attacking that goals are gonna fly in left, right and centre. Have a funny feeling Lukaku will be up there as well. Number 1 striker for Belgium in a relatively easy group which they should qualify quite comfortably from. If he's top scorer at the WC, add another 10 million to his value and bye bye any hope of us getting him (if there is at all I suppose).

Be honest here, who now laughs at the squad we had going into that champions league qualifier against Villareal? I remember a certain Pistone at left back, hibbert at right back. Simon Davies, Kilbane, Beattie and so on. We were no were near ready with the squad we had and the football we played. At least if we make it this time, we have quality in the squad and a manager who can match europe's elite tactically. My point is I would be less worried this time in the qualifying stages than I was in 05/06 season. But as you said, finishing third is one less game.

The game is on my birthday so I'll miss this game because I think we're going for a surprise meal.... Can't really say no but I am pretty gutted I'll miss the game. I'll be constantly checking the score on my phone and then I'll get called antisocial. No win really. Moral of the story is, you women, never book to go for a meal when the blues are playing.
