Don’t know a lot about Garner but for £15 million it’s got to be a no brainier.
Gibbs-White did well in EFL and was staggeringly expensive.
This kid also did well in EFL and appears remarkably cheap in comparison.
Signings so far have been of a certain mould and character. Really happy with this. Exciting times ahead (and by that I mean mid-table) but I’ll take that this season for sure. -

Fuck my life, we get no luck

Retain the ball like this at the weekend and we get obliterated.

Can’t say it wasn’t coming.
Awful start to the half.
No ball retention up top.

Is he? When has he shown that in the last 5 years?
Better than Gomes, Davies, Gbamin.
Even the few flashes he’s had at Chelsea, and then briefly at Villa, are more than those 3 combined.
Game of opinions though isn’t it
-
Better than what we’ve got, and who knows, may even come fired up with a point to prove.
I’d take the risk

The point was?
We don’t know how long any transfer takes, only rumours and leaks.
Newcastle No1 striker gets injured last week.
This week they replace / upgrade. Who knows when negotiations first started tho. Maybe they were planning on getting him before the injury to WilsonEverton No1 striker gets injured 5 weeks ago
We still haven’t replaced / upgraded / plugged the gap *delete as appropriate*
We (apparently) finally identify said player from the same FA / League and seems to take longer, with what you would assume, has less stumbling blocks in terms of registration, rules etc
But as I’m not privy to said transfer dealings, I obviously don’t have a point

I’m going to assume you were privy to Newcastles dealings on this transfer then?
Or just because we only heard about it yesterday they must have only made the offer the same day and had it all done and dusted in 24 hours?‘privy to Newcastles dealings’ ……… brilliant
Missed the point but never mind

So is this another that was supposed to be done in time for one of our games but never happened? (Gana and Onana were the others)
Looks that way doesn’t it.
Barcodes get Isak signed sealed and delivered from Spain ……… we seemingly can’t get one done from 200 miles away
Hopefully something announced with the shirt holding photo ??
Even tho he’s not the signing I wanted, I’ll still support him, and we need him for tomorrow …….. desperately

Agreed.
Such a shame to see how far he’s fallen.
Massive talent, and lots of factors contributing to where he is now.
Maybe being so far removed from the shitstorm that’s is daily life in the EPL will help him get his head straight / career back on track etcReally thought he was going to be a good signing for us

I will be underwhelmed.
Forget underwhelmed, I’ll be flat out disappointed.
Poor signing.
I stand to be proven wrong, but don’t think I will be

Frustrating to watch but you can see he does have the ability to do something special. Doing it consistently is the problem. He's lightning quick, very skilful, would like him to be more direct. Head down, and attack the defender every time. Seems to cut in a lot into traffic.

Feels all soon and gloom because we know we should have beaten them.
But at least today we created chances.Rondon does give us a focal point up top, but the ball needs to be played within five years of him.
If DCL was on the pitch that changes to fifteen yards and gives us angles.
May not seem a lot, but that makes a huge difference as it stretches them.If we can get a striker, or Dom fit…. We’ll be a different team.
Agreed.
We were better for Rondon being in the team as on a couple of occasions we were able to play up to and off of him.
Stick a mobile striker up there and that changes the dynamic of the team.
Without the focal point of a proper striker we look utterly abject up there tho.
The other front 3 don’t make enough good choices for me and that means there’s no pressure relieving.
Their goal came from a poor pass up top, they then camped around our box and scored.
We seem to go 100 mph, never pile much pressure on and lose the ball quickly. At least we came from behind to get a result.
Not saying a point is good, but not totally bad either.

Gray and Gordon trying to do too much every time.
Rondon has at least given us a kind of focal point at times.
Shape not working for me.
Genuine 5-3-2 would give us more control.
Gray and Gordon making it more a 5-4-1Onana for Gray
I’d go further and get Dele off of Rondon so drag Gordon off too.
-
I’d keep him, still a decent player.
Would play him in a 3 and reckon he’d be solid enough.

Crazy money!
£40 million for a player (instalments or not) who couldn’t get a game in PL so was loaned to EFL last season.
Wish someone would offer that for Simms et al !!!

I guess that PSG feel that they hold most of the cards and can play hardball. As much as I would like IGG back it may be time to tell PSG to complete the deal in 24 hours or we walk away.
Looks like we might have to doesn’t it.
I want him back, but we were hoping to have him before Chelsea as it ‘was close’ ……. It’s now the 3rd game of the season and he’s still not signed

It's win win so long as he gets his head down again if it doesn't go through.
Yeah, that’s the worry if his heads been turned. Hopefully not the case tho.

Don’t want him to leave, as when played in favoured position he’s a threat, and will only improve.
That said, Chelsea are throwing money around so if they really want him, let’s see how high they’ll go.
The Brighton left-back as a case in point.
We’ve constantly been screwed by teams in the past, so let’s do it ourselves.
£65 million?
£75 million? If they say No, then happy days.
if they say Yes, that could fund 2/3 players
Win win situation

You’d hope it’s a decent fee on the buy back tho. Maybe £25-30 million?
Might be wishful thinking but would also hope we’d be able to re-negotiate and ‘buy it out’ too if things go well.
Utd seem to only want box office players, so unlikely they’d have him back even if he does do well here.
I could be talking utter bollox tho
