As frustrating as he was again on Sunday he was still the only one fashioning chances.

But not finishing them, which is what everyone is complaining about isn't it?

I was fuming at his performance on Sunday. The way he falls over at every touch from a CB is either disgraceful play acting or evidence that he just cannot handle the physical side of the game every CF has to endure. To be fair to him, he did win a blatant foul off Sanchez, which Atkinson probably didn't give coz of how many times he'd been on the floor beforehand. But then why wasn't he booked for playacting?

I agree with Shukes. If a player on another side behaved the way he did Evertonians would want them lynching. Keep him on the wing where he gets much less of the close attention he clearly can't handle, and where imo he's more of a threat anyway.

just a thought if we really are truly moving on from gylfi, you have to think Brands is going to try and offload him this winter or upcoming summer.  He's 30 and still has a lot of playing left in him.  I'd imagine we could get back 20m or so and at least not be stuck with the massive wages.  otherwise it becomes another run down former asset that is counting down till contract end date.  thoughts?

As far as January is concerned, no way. We will need bodies the rest of this season, even though Id expect us to sign some cover in midfield now, even with Gbamin due back.

As for next summer... Yeah I'd sell. The great things he does are great but he's a luxury player imo, and we can't carry one of those if we want to get out of the rut we're in.

Come on lads your being a bit melodramatic, we've seen many men trip players to stop  breakaways even some of our own. The ref gave a yellow card which i thought it deserved, then after seeing the injury decided to to go one better and give him a red.!!  Piss poor refereeing in my mind and I'm not surprised it was overturned.

I'm pretty sure VAR gave the red, on the grounds that any foul that leads to an injury is now considered reckless. Or is that bullshit?

But if VAR got that wrong and had it overturned, what about the Alli handball? Coz I still don't know in what universe that isn't a penalty on replay. Or the Richarlison trip? Can a panel now give Sanchez a retrospective red on the grounds that the standing referee and the video panel have been demonstrated to be utterly fucking incompetent on three separate occasions?

I can't see Tom coming in to replace Gomes. Honestly I think he would be better suited to spending a season abroad, like Lookman, but hopefully not leaving.

If it were me I would be dropping Gylfi into centre mid alongside Delph/Schneids and playing Iwobi as the number 10 if we are gonna stick with 4-2-3-1. At least Gylfi will have a forward pass in him and is a hard worker

I really don't see Sigurdsson playing a deeper role. I mean we might have to try it, but even then we'd need Davies as backup. I see him playing a lot of football for us the rest of this season.

Just with you wanting creativity in there I was suggesting Gordon.

Didn't we release Charsley in the summer but then gave him another year and have been letting him play with the U23s so he can showcase himself or something?

I dunno the ins and outs of it but yeah he was released and re-signed. One things for sure if we get another injury in midfield before Xmas one of the kids will get a chance.

  6. I'm even more angry about VAR now after the explanations. How is a ball hitting a player's hand above his head not a clear and obvious error yet Keane making innocuous contact with an opponent's foot last week was? And Where's the Richarlison trip? Sanchez knew he'd caught him, his reaction was 100% guilty, yet that's not even being discussed? The system is a fucking shambles, only the PL could make the miserable state of officiating in this sport worse by introducing technology.

  7. Went for Mina in the end but it was a toss up between him an Davies. Tom is starting to look like the player people have been saying he could become since he was a kid, ran the midfield today. But Mina was instrumental in making Spurs look utterly toothless in attack, and the fact he played the first of the two passes that led to the goal just edged it for me.

  8. No idea where to start with that. The Gomes injury... I just wish him a full recovery coz that looked horrendous.

VAR... The PL is in the verge on making the world's greatest football league the biggest laughing stock. How clear does the Alli handball have to be? Why wasn't there even a free kick for the Sanchez foul on Richarlison? Why is Atkinson as a top flight referee unable to see that himself?

In terms of how we played... I'm glad we showed enough fight to keep going and get the draw, Spurs were utter shite and didn't deserve the win. I thought Davies and Delph played really well in midfield, as did Mina and Holgate at the back. But fuck me we've got problems up front. Iwobi was woeful all game, Richarlison has to stop the rolling around shit it is embarrassing. I just don't see where goals are coming from. With injuries exposing how threadbare the squad is I'm expecting a long hard winter.

We're scared to pass a ball forward in the final third. Get to 442 and get the ball forward into the strikers feet these lot are low on confidence and will be unsettled with it.

There's no fear of passing the ball forward. The movement from the front three has just been poor
