  1. Oh well. Tosun and Baines's pens were shite, Baines can have a pass but not sure what we pay Tosun's wages for.

Fabulous fight back 2nd half though, we can hold our head up high and more of the same Saturday we'll stuff Arsenal.

Longer term, whoever comes in I just don't know what they do about some of the overpriced overpaid shite we call players. Iwobi, Keane first half, Bernard who was so bad he got pulled instead of Iwobi... Just so many players on our books who individually are not up to scratch. It doesn't matter who is in charge, what tactics you play, our recruitment continues to be very, very worrying

correct, they are who they are because they are technically gifted.  you can't teach that.  anyone can be taught to work hard and press.

Nope. It's not enough to be technically gifted. Not by a long shot. Klopp and Pep are not just successful because they buy the most talented players. They single out the most driven.

simply running around isn't blood and guts and passion for the shirt.

You've completely contradicted yourself here. The best two teams in the league, who you rightly point out have incredibly gifted players from a technical stand point, are what they are precisely because their players don't 'simply run around'. They play with calculated aggression and a burning desire to beat whoever is put in front of them. That's what guts and passion mean, that's what defines winners, that is what managers like Pep and Klopp demand no matter how gifted a player is, and why someone like Ozil is playing for Arsenal, not Man City or Liverpool.

Passion and commitment can and does beat talent when talent isn't up for the fight. That's usually the key thing that separates successful pros from the child protégés who never quite make it. Desire is everything, especially at the top.

Guillem Balague has put on Twitter. He wanted a break until the summer but a four year deal and being paid one of the top three managers in the world with the promise of building a top team. Also one website claims he had a meeting with Usmanov who convinced him to sign on.

Wish Usmanov would stop pissing around at Arsenal and just come and bank roll us into the next stratosphere!

managers job to give that info to the players.  if dunc knew he wasn't prepared why put him on?  to teach him a lesson?  it ain't 1995, players aren't like that anymore.  he's a foreigner too so it's even more muddled with the language and customs barrier.  just a stupid thing all around.  if the kid needs time let him work on the training ground and the cup match this week, he's supposed to be a big signing for the future, and our caretaker might have fucked it up.  i'd not be happy if i was brands/moshiri.

Customs barrier?? He's from Italy ffs not Outer Mongolia!

Not handled it the best? There's a distinct possibility that he just ruined the short-term career of one of our brighter prospects. It was an idiotic thing to do. It's OK to show you're in charge but not in a way that humiliates others in view of an entire stadium and millions of viewers. Does he want to be "a man"? Then go apologize, immediately, in front of the cameras.

    A) on what are you basing the judgement that Kean is "one of our brightest prospects?" His transfer fee? He's done fuck all since he's come here apart from get disciplined for missing a couple of team meetings, which shows immaturity and a lack of respect for team discipline. B) if getting hauled off in any circumstances ruins any part of his career he hasn't got the character to be a top level footballer. It has happened to better players than him, e.g. Mata, Matic.

I think that's the point Barry is making really - if that's what he wanted then why wasn't Niasse the sub in the first place? Because that's his whole game - to run around like an excited puppy.

I don't think those stats suggest Niasse ran around like an excited puppy though. They suggest he got into the game and won his duels. If anything Kean was the one who was all headless chicken but lost every single battle with an opponent. Sadly the lad looks out of his depth tactically and physically - a little like Klaasen but for different reasons. Again, my concern is not so much with the player but the fact that our recruitment may well have pulled off another howler.

Did his performance reallly warrant Ferguson to completely ignore him? Kean also looked a little confused when he was subbed on and immediately had a chat with Richarlison. I’m sure none of us will get to know the real reason. If it’s just about chasing the ball and you want a striker to just run and run (with little control or no end product) then Niasse is your man. I’m surprised Ferguson doesn’t realise the difference between the two as I could tell you beforehand what you’d get from each player.

Stats show Niasse did more in his few minutes that Kean did in 18m. We needed someone who was going to help out winning challenges.
