  1. after being put on the naughty step for mentioning him in another post -  Jordan James is a player I like the look of.

     https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/birmingham-city-players-who-could-attract-transfer-interest-this-summer/

Being a Welshman I have seen him as a regular starter in the Wales midfeild at 19 (has 10 caps now in past calader year). He also grabbed 8 goals as a midfeilder in a struggling Birmingham team, but also talked about as a defensive midfeilder, so has a number of qualities needed in a midfeilder. Shortlised for Championship young player of the season. Rooney holds him in high regard as a player.

Just thinking about season I thought of my 3 favorite or best matches and 3 worst.

    My top 3

    1. Everton 2 Liverpool 0. 4/24

    2. Everton 3  Newcastle 0. 12/7

    3. Everton 2  Chelsea 0  12/10

    Worst 3

    1. Chelsea 6 Everton 0 4/15

    2. Aston Villa 4 Everton 0. 8/20

    3. Wolves 3  Everton 0  12/30

I can't disagree with those listed - performance wise.

A couple of massive moments stick out form me, which I though impacted our season massively, Onana's pen miss that saw us go out of the League Cup, that was the start of our really bad run, and the second was Newcastle having a second goal disallowed when we went to there place(pressure was building massively by then), we went on to get a equalizer in that game, and the game after got the massive win over Burnley to end the non-winning streak (yes, I know Burnley was a shit performance).

Chelsea thrashing also seemed to be a bit of a watershed moment. With hindsight, getting beaten up that day did us a massive favour as it seem to give everybody the kick up the backside needed - been excellent since.

  3. gutted, I really thought we just might of ended the season with some sort of result.

Impressed how the team approached the game even though it was a dead ruibber of a game for us, Arsenal did not get an easy ride from us. They where very fortunate to get a winner.

decent enough performance from us to finish the season on.

  4. it would n't surprise me if the two weeks deadline, is as much professional curtesy as anything, given that 777 have been bank rolling us for past few months and by putting money in.

I have got the feeling  777 Partners will be at risk of collapse if the deal goes belly up. However, think is enviably dead now, and 777 are probably in panic mode now.

I may be wrong but I thought they had been given the green light from the PL as long as they met a couple of stipulations, one being the 158 million back to MSP, or have I miss read or got mixed up.

It is appearing that 777 can't pay the bills at other companies they own, never mind pull together £158m, plus £60m working capital, plus enough money to finish a stadium.

they are not going to meet those stipulating to be ratified as fit and proper owner.

PL comments you refer to where also made before a Belgium and Brazilian club under ownership has just turned to shit for them.

A lot has changed in the month since PL comments.

  6. there is no way the PL will 'sign off' on 777 Partner in their current climate, and they are not turning all this around in a fortnight (or 10days now).

PL don't have to come out and formally 'reject' them, they will just keep saying that 777 are not yet in a position to demostated that they are fit and proper to be owners.

I think the truth is that once the Everton takeover door slams shut on them - 777 Partner are in a whole heap of trouble, beyond what they are already in. This one looks like a house of cards

  7. Given what is to play for on Sunday, it wouldn't suprise me if we managed to get some sort of a result.

We go into the game with absolutely no pressure and a fully expected go get beat.

Its a really strange game for Arsenal becasue they have to win in, but even winning it might end up meaning fuck all to them anyhow. They may already be a team feeling a bit defeated after City going ahead of them in the league in mid week.

Imagine the atmosphere in the stadium if City go a goal or two up - the Gunners will be glum as fuck and our away support will be giving them pelters.

There is a reason thay you can get 15/1 on us winning. However, if events go a certain way in Manchester, then there could be a very very deflated team playing against us after the first 30mins.

If they had sacked him, maybe we'd be grousing about being relegated or maybe we wouldn't: We don't know.

They didn't sack him, and we're definitely not grousing about being relegated: We do know.

But let's move on. Dyche will most likely be our manager when the new season starts. I suggested that his goal this past season was to finish higher up the table than last season. What goals would you give him for next season? The same? Maybe we can put our differences about our manager aside and focus on what we expect him to achieve and how he should be measured.

my goal for him, as mentioned earlier, would be to make Goodison the toughest place most teams find to come and play. Its only this very last part of the season in which we have consistently been winning home games. I would love to see that continue in to next season. Dyche's general play etc works very well away, so away results have looked after themselves this seaon.

I want lots of blood, sweat, and cheers it what we all hope will be a special final season a Goodison.

  9. Something that will be interesting to watch next year is how West Ham fair without a steady Eddie David Moyes swaped out for a more modern or progressive coach. I would imagine a fair few of the Hammer fans appriciate Moyes and will be sorry to see him go, while others have been championing moving him out for something they think will be 'better' for a long time.

We have witnessed a couple of false dawns, but generally a steady decline since Everton moved on from Moyes. Hammer fans need to be careful what they wish for. Having had relative success under Moyes over his 4 years, it will be interesting to see how many changes in manager they have over the next four years and what sort of sucess they have.

Does our fan base mirror a little of that the Hammer want, when it comes down to Dyche?

There’s a lot of twists and turns a head before next season starts, we could secure new owners who decide Dyche doesn’t fit into their plans.
If we have to sell our better players but can’t reinvest in the team because the money will be spent on daily running costs and Stadium payments, then I feel for Dyche if he is still the manager he or anyone else will be on a hiding to nothing, a team next season without a Pickford a Branthwaite and possibly a DCL is a very scary prospect. I still fear for our short term future and find it hard to imagine what the long term will look like if it all goes tits up in the short term.

can't argue with that - scares me when talk of a near backbone potentially being sold. This year was as tough gig as a manager is going to get and next year might be as tough for different reasons. I don't see Dyche as the type who, throw is dummy out and walk away, see him as somebody who will deal with in and get on with the job.

New owners or not, I don't see Dyche being swapped out by them. If any new owners have anything about them, they will try and keep the footballing part of the club ticking over for then first half of the season at least.

Dyches teams are based on players working their nuts off being defensively strong and keeping games tight. To me that is the better foundation in your a mid to bottom half team.

I definately don't see it as a time to try and get 'creative' or take some risks in the management department.

  11. Dyche is going to be here next season, so we are all going to get to see if the now infamous '14 games' was an unlucky blip or not. for me last season is going to have an asterics next to it anyhow as one that was particularly difficult and unusual one to manage. nobody really know how certain off feild situations effected both winning streaks or not winning streaks.

So as he's going to remain I will be getting fully behind him, what I would like to see next season is Goodison get the send off it deserves. We are currently on 5 home wins in a row so great foundation to go in to next season and make Goodion that horrible ground for the away teams to visit for one final year.

He will currently have the majority of the Goodison faithful behind him, so up to Dyche to make the most of the goodwill he'll be getting to in to next season.

I agree but how would you have judged him on the games before the last 10, in particular the 14 when I believe but haven’t checked we were the weakest team in the league.
As employees and managers, being judged on them results would normally incur 3 written warnings and dismissal, well they would if he worked for me 🪓😂

what somebody should really do is come up with a system where you are judged against a pre determined number of games every season.

arse, there already is a system in place. I'll have to come up with another brillient idea to get me out of the day job.

I made this point a few weeks ago, should a club be allowed to off set lost prize money caused by PSR? Especially for the first ever case, because nobody knew was would happen.

otherwise it just becomes a stick that keeps on beating, especially for clubs to who £10-15m is a notable amount of their revenue.

the issue for me is there will be no straight answer from the PL on this situation, so will have to be argued by lawyers again for 3 or 4 months, and then maybe appealed.

  14. me personally, first 10 games or so in the bad run not overly worried and still happy enough with Dyche as performances where generally OK. But as the run got longer - from Palace onward I was getting a bit nervouse and concerned, had other teams realised the how to beat our style, had the players run out of steam, nerves and low confidence coming in to games to much - should have beat Brigthon, West Ham etc, had Dyche lost the dressing rooms? etc etc, wasn't seeing answer or changes to rectify this, Pattersongate.

So circumstances and situation change - As generally been a Dyche advocate the cracks did appear and questions being asked where not being answered for a time, but he definately answered those question this past month. Probably was fortunate he didn't get fired, but he didn't and we have survived quite comfortably in the end. Maybe a lesson to all clubs and owners not to be too trigger happy. Maybe managers nowerdays are not afforded time when bad runs happen, not just talking Everton but at plenty of clubs. Lots of clubs end up going down even when they change manager in the final panic sacking.

"His knockers can focus on his 14 game winless streak if they want to......"   just the 14 games then?

I suppose when you look disjointed, clueless in the attacking 3rd with questionable tactics with a team looking increasingly shot of confidence and you break Mike walkers long standing record then questions may just get asked.

    🤣

Yeah pretty much, and even within those 14 games, it wasn't all poor performances, just like a lot of the games won haven't been vintage performances either.

I was asking seriouse questions myself after the home Crystal Palace and West Ham games and onward, but he also had some credit in the bank from the pre and post initial deduction run of good results and the fact he got us over the line last season.

In the final home straight of game my option was to stick with the known of Dyche (and have my finger cross) at the helm rather than twist and just try something else in the hot seat (and also have my fingers crossed).

He still has plenty to prove that with a bit more breathing room he could develop a better team etc etc.  This run at the end of the season has simply just bought Dyche more credit to have a crack at that. He's proven he is a pair safe hands, but we all know we will ultimately soon be demanding more that just safe hands.

My views are very balanced in my mind or do others that don’t agree with me now hold the rights to balanced opinions and views, when it comes to Dyche we are polls apart but please don’t try and tell me my opinions are less valid than yours, I’m not doing that to you so don’t do it to me, by all means tell me why you disagree with my points as I’m doing with others but don’t play the superiority card Rob your not the oracle mate you’re just the same as everyone one on here you have an opinion not the answer.

I am just giving as good as I am getting of your replies.

"Rob you want your cake and to eat when it comes to Dyche not his fault when we go on the worst run in our history, but all done to him when we put a good defensive display in ffs 🤦‍♂️ The man can do no wrong it would seem"

I'll argue back all day to quotes like this that are directed straight at me.   Unfortunatley, it your problem if you find any level of superiority in the responses.

Oh and @RuffRob, I go it wrong. If we went into administration before the last game of the season the 9 points deduction would be for this season.

But, administration is so much more than a points deduction. It really would be disastrous.

my point was if we HAD to go in to administration, then this is the week to do it, rather than in a month or so's time. We now have required points buffer.
