It's why a long time ago I gave up on it and decided to just live life and not worry about things out of my control. We may have been allowed a vote, but that's as much control as we are allowed to have.

This is an understandable but, imo, completely wrong reaction.  Your vote is very powerful and the only thing these bullshit artists fear is an informed voter who can break through their rhetoric and demand an honest response.

This is not a remain or leave thing, as for example brexit-people like Iain Martin, Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, Andrew Neil,.. are definitely informed.

Boris' resignation letter is interesting reading and in fairness sums up the feeling I get from this current Brexit mess.

Boris' letter is utter nonsense.  Same hollow words as during the campaign, not one word about an alternative plan and for good measure he throws in a bit about EU regulations on trucks that is at best a half-truth.

I thought Davis' letter was more to the point. He said what it is about the current plan he doesn't agree with, however also not one mention of how May should go about it.

  2. I am sorry, Mike, I don't think we'll agree on this. I can't imagine someone like Pettachi not having the same resources as Froome/Sky, so my initial reaction to Lappartient was why don't they just release the facts that vindicated Froome rather than say 'wow Froome had a really good legal team' (so did OJ).

I know under a zero tolerance policy sometimes a penalty can be too harsh, but cyclists have yet to re-earn the right to be believed.  The fact half the peloton suffer from asthma (including Froome) and therefor are allowed to use products like Salbutamol, is just one indication we aren't there yet.

In reality why does the border really need to change?

The UK wants to have the ability to make its own rules and no longer accept the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice.

    This means that:

    - a good produced in the UK will be up to different standards than EU

    - the UK wont accept rulings by the ECJ on these standards

So the only way for the EU to know goods that enter the Single Market are up to EU standards is to check them at the border.

This is a simplified example only about goods, but I think it illustrates the issue.

Tell me more about your appreciation. I’d be delighted to know how or what made u appreciate the mess he left us in. Was it the first season that you remember? I think  it was. Or let me guess was it the embarrassment of shipping goals left right and centre or the worst derby performance I’ve ever had the emabassment of watching? The guy is a fraud. If he lifts it, it’s because of the players. 🤭 u get that? PLAYERS!

As someone who vividly remembers Wilmots, I disagree it's all about the players.  Martinez changed the Japan game with two influential subs.  Against Brazil he set up Belgium in a way they haven't played before and it worked great.

I wanted him gone at Everton at the end because whatever he tried to do didn't work anymore, but he's not a bad manager.

Don’t see why they shouldn’t have the same treatment. They’re an independent country who voted to remain in the EU, that should be respected.

I think it is an interesting idea. Border England - Scotland is a lot shorter than NI - ROI, plus there are no troubles on that border (so no Good Friday Agreement).

Obvious downside is a border inside the UK but there might be one in the Irish Sea anyway.  The Brexiteers believe "maximum facilitation" and technology can make a border invisible, so they can prove it on a border inside the UK.

  6. Uruguay - France                             Russia - Croatia

                                     -------------------

Belgium - Brazil                                Sweden - England

ffs.. Southgate is a genius.  Well done Pickford.

Honestly, England have not impressed me at all. It took a last-gasp goal to beat lowly Tunisia, they were lucky against Panama (who gave up after the penalty that made it 2-0), and they lost against the Belgium Second 11 (and, yes, I know it was the England Second 11). Anyway, England have a record to live up to: go out on penalties.

I disagree.  First game of a World Cup for a young-ish team is always difficult, I'm sure they were all nervous.  If Lingard had finished half his changes in that first half, it would have been game over for Tunisia at half time.   Second game England completely destroyed Panama.    Against Belgium, I'm sure they were instructed that winning wasn't a priority.

After the first round, I thought Belgium and England were the two best teams so far.  Now, for me, its Brasil and France.  If England beat Columbia, they join those two as clear favourites.

Your first assumption that he got "caught" is disproved by the fact that he's been cleared (innocent until proven guilty).

He plainly was just as innocent nine months ago but the authorities needed time to investigate it before coming to that conclusion. His Salbutamol level was high for sure, which he's acknowledged; on one day out out probably several hundred that he's been tested on but those that know are satisfied that it was due to hydration levels, direction of the sun, whether there was an "r" in the month or whatever.

Get over it Holy, you made the last eight in the football tonight so celebrate, one day you may even have a decent cyclist again;).

Innocent until proven guilty is not applicable in cycling; ever since the major doping scandals of Armstrong, Ulrich, Riis, etc etc. it is common practice to put a rider on non-active if his blood or urine show traces of a banned substance.

He's innocent in so far as the UCI and WADA believe his excuses for using a banned substance.   Every rider in history has had an explanation when caught, few have been believed.  Remember Contador with his 0.0000000005 gram of Glenbulterol?  He blamed it on steak, but was banned nonetheless.

To be clear, I'm not angry with Froome or Sky for looking for an edge, I'm just extremely annoyed with UCI for not being consistent.  The fight against doping is never over,  and with Froome, instead of coming down hard on doping, they are sending a totally wrong signal.

  9. Mike, after all cycling went through it became common practice to, as a team decision, bench your rider when he gets caught.  Sky didnt do that and created a lot of ill will towards them and Froome both amongst fans as in the peloton.

If Froome was that obviously innocent as the UCI is making out now, he was just as innocent 9 months ago. What do cycling fans make of this sudden conclusion in such suspicious circumstances..

With the levels of Salbutamol of Froome he must be some asthma patient, its a joke and completely unbelievable that he needs this as a professional cyclist.

Other riders banned for using Salbutamol were Pettachi, Trentin, Ulissi.. big names riding for big teams.

I think by clearing Froome the UCI is trying to get past the issue of doping in cycling and they are scared of having to scratch his name from a lot of results, but they are going about it all wrong.  Zero tolerance is the only way, otherwise some cyclists will always be looking for that edge.

He's got one of the most talented squads in world football and nearly blew it.  Japan cut through them with ease to score the 2 goals.

Martinez changed the game with those two substitutions.  Japan didnt cut through anything, they played very well and organised and made two very well taken goals after defensive errors.

Also, Lukaku showed with that stepover for the last goal that he isn'tt just a great goalscorer but a very good football player.
