nutmegwolf203 reacted to Zoo in Same old Everton
At the start of the season I'd have snapped your arm off if you offered me 6th under a new manager (who's experience to date was being relegation fodder with Wigan). United & Moyes have shown how hard it can be to make a change so if you think that coming 6th is 'same old Everton' you need to find another team.
We are doing exceptionally well and it's laughable to think that the race for 4th is over. We are 8 points behind Liverpool (admittedly that's quite a gap) but are only 5 points behind Spurs with a game in hand. If they lose one and we win (which is likely given how shaky Sherwood is) then we're right back in it.
Truly baffled as to how anyone can moan at this season's performance.
Edit: James McCarthy has probably been player of the season for me.

nutmegwolf203 got a reaction from Brando896 in Umbro
This is exciting. I've been crying out for a manufacturer to take over that actually has the time to make us something unique. Umbro has a recent history of making some interesting kits. Although much of it was under the guidance of Nike, the Aitor Throup tailored England kits were very nice I think, as are the Ireland home and away. The Cosmos strip has always been awesome too. I think this is a positive move, especially since we'll be the only ones in the league representing their brand. We can probably anticipate some of the players wearing Umbro boots as well...although those are a bit questionable.

Almost 41 years to the day since his dad was contacted by Everton too.

I hope his middle name isn't Samson.

The best of Lukaku is still to come, be it for Chelsea, Everton or anyone.
Isn't he only 20! he more than anyone talks about learning, he knows he will improve.

I'm a bit confused as to why we're being linked with absolute cloggers at the moment. I don't know if the media has noticed but we're playing some very good football and these sort of strikers don't even begin to fit in with our style.

He's just scored on his debut to put MK Dons 2-1 up v Shrewsbury.

Interesting that some have chosen McCarthy for each game in which he's started (and I voted for him again this time). It hasn't taken long for him to demonstrate consistency and worth at Everton.

Decisions hurt us. A soft penalty, a semi-soft goal, we just weren't good enough. Let's move on to the match, we have a good squad and one performance shouldn't ruin our season.

nutmegwolf203 reacted to Matt in What are we missing to become top four team?
So... after a fair few games, Ive come to the conclusion that we need the following:
1. a real striker - Lukaku will do the job this season but we do need the right 20m striker as a permanent fixture to our team.
2. a LW - Pienaar is and never was a LW, but his partnership with Baines is more than a good enough replacement. When that duo isnt there, or isnt firing, we have issues down that wing.
3. a young, solid CB - Stones I hear you cry! truth is, we havent seen enough of him. Im sure he will come good, good enough to replace Jags in 2 years. But we have no replacement for Distin, and that needs resolving.

nutmegwolf203 reacted to GoodisonRoad in Man City
Because, as I said, he has only had 2 starts all game and isnt match fit. Harsh to brand him as a "45 min player" after 2 starts since pre season. 4 goals in 3 games is still impressive considering he was basically playing reserve football or on the bench for Chelsea for a little over a month.

nutmegwolf203 reacted to Avinalaff in Man City
Our last 6 visits to Man City have produced 4 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss.
Our last 12 matches have resulted in 9 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses.
I therefore conclude that if City play well, they might just sneak a draw, and it's time to remember how good we are and kick their arses yet again.

nutmegwolf203 reacted to Hafnia in Chelsea (Home)
From the perspective of did we face pressure? Absolutely. They are a quality outfit with dangerous players all over.
Did we sit back and get 9 men behind the ball and invite them ala Moyes style? No. In the last 20 minutes we had a few opportunities to score and were the best team at that stage despite Chelsea going full on. Facing pressure isn't the same as sitting back.

Get in! Great game, who needs possession?
Mirallas back, Osman improved. Naismith looks like he could be our Dirk Kuyt, rubbish, but gives his all and gets important goals. Gareth Barry wears an Everton shirt to bed, wouldn't know he's only been at the club two weeks.

These two teams provide most of England's defensive line. It's no surprise they are two of the three unbeaten teams in the league (Liverpool being the third).
