We may not have new owners before the start of the new season so what do you think happens then are you saying we don’t do any transfers.
I would think it’s on Thelwell and whoever is sitting in office now to do the business

We're bankrupt if it goes on that long.

I wonder if the club will be considering holding on to Branthwaite and just taking the hit of a points deduction.

I guess that would depend on just how much it would put us over. If it would only put us a small amount over then you'd have to consider it. If it leaves us massively over then obviously it would be out of the question.

    Missed this, thanks Rob.

One thing that I don't think has had much made of it is that it's not just a points deduction, it's a performance based fine too when you factor in the £ per place. We should be sitting minimum 13th (due to goal difference) and I think it's £2m a place, so it's a £4m fine (based on current standings) on top of the chaos.

Not sure he would want to go to Arsenal don’t mean to upset anyone but why would you want to go to London

I agree city would be ideal but they don’t appear to have made a move.
the United deal if it happens will be more than just money

I'm thinking more about possession based teams, he could fit in at Barca or Real too, he really is that good in my eyes.

I think it would be a great move for Branthwaite they have some very good youngsters coming through.

True and I see what you're getting at. But ETH isn't guaranteed to be around much longer so do you move and hope the new guy plays you ahead of Maguire?

£60m for him in this market and recent transfers is about £20m short before add ons. I hope we don't sell early for the sake of the books and we just take the hit, the PL will find a way of screwing us in any case so why take a 30% hit.

He's got City written all over, potentially Arsenal if they win this season. He's going to be a world beater.

But has it been a successful season for me it hasn’t it’s been barely bearable, for me a successful season will be when we are pushing for a top 6 position, with a club that is being run on solid foundations, this may happen next season or the season after and so forth until we get a buyer that knows how to run a club, but fighting to stay in the league for 3 seasons for what ever reason doesn’t constitute a success for me, showing signs of improvement isn’t a reason to call a season successful.
Strangely I don’t think I said there hadn’t been any improvement I said it wasn’t a successful season which it hasn’t unless of course we view staying up as successful, then dunlopp chimes in with it has been a successful season, I would go as far as to say that if the manager and players were asked whether they thought this was a successful season to a man they would so no, if you asked them if this was a fraught and hard season and they had conquered some big hurdles they would say yes.

Yes. Considering the previous 2 seasons and the absolute shitshow around the club it's a massive success. I'm not entirely joking that Dyche should be talked about for manager of the season all things considered, although there's a bit of tongue in cheek there.

    Newty said things perfectly.

I’ve always maintained that we wouldn’t go down and have always said the 3 to go down would be Sheffield, Burnley, and Luton, and the 3 that come up next season will be the same 3 that go down. But that doesn’t in any way make me feel any better we have been absolutely terrible this season, and if people believe that the mark of a good season is too avoid relegation then crack on, but for me I’ve been embarrassed at some of the football we’ve played and won’t be looking at this season or last as a success.

Think the mark of a good season is defined by the expectations and previous seasons. We should be comfortably mid table and potentially should've been chasing Europe if not for the points. Massively improved defensive, increased in shots and shots on target, nearly 1 in 3 clean sheets with 0 budget, a ragtag threadbare squad of aging or green players...

    Form this year:

Fun fact, we've won 50% more games than last season.

The previous season and others are available in the link. I've shared this one because it's colour coded and it highlights the substantial turnaround in results.

I'd say it's a pretty damn good season. If the style next year continues to be more direct than a balance, then I'll get a bit critical. But all things considered, especially if you compare to 2 years ago, we've made massive progress.

That why I said worst of the PSR is behind us, rather than it being totally done and dusted.

we all know a lot more about it now, how charges are made and what sort of point deduction you may get. Most of this season has been us used as the case studies. That 10 point initial charge made against us was very destabilising. we should not be seeing anything like that again. outcomes all very much unknowns last season.

My bad, behind us to me means it's done which it isn't.

Do you know what the fucked up thing is? During the height of the pandemic unvaccinated me was less of a risk to the public than the vaccinated people, because I had to take a test showing I was negative before I could do anything whereas the vaccinated could go where they wanted and could have spread it because they won't have known whether they were positive or negative.

I'm absolutely fine with not having it because that was looking after myself, which I think I was entitled to do. I have a condition and thought through all the pros and cons of having a new vaccine that had to be rushed out and not knowing how it would effect me.

Nothing to do with any conspiracy theories for me.

I was deliberately not quoting you to start with:lol:

Rushed out I won't argue against, it did all seem a little too quick to find a solution as quick as we did and get it all out on time. Or the powers that be do actually have some ideas as what to do when a true pandemic hits.

But I believe that had it not been sent out with even 75% effectiveness, that 1 in 4 people that could contract rather than a 95% , replicate and transmit (often without showing symptoms) is dramatically reduced.

I offer an apology to those who didn't get it but took/take precautions. Most at the time weren't, treated it as an inconvenience and it was an emotional time, not just because of COVID for me. So my apologies there. But anyone telling me it's to link you with the 5g masts will not be suffered

In general they are about protecting the majority but the covid vaccine is not. It protects no one but yourself because you still get covid with it, it just lessens the symptoms for you, and you can still pass it on to other people.

Which is why anyone that doesn't/didn't want the covid vaccine should feel completely comfortable with that decision and not be made to feel guilty about.

It reduced the chances of contraction for the most part, it limited the chances to spread, so it absolutely was for everyone. Like pretty much every vaccine. Didn't help everyone unfortunately but vaccines are not created, pushed out and injected for individual protection, it's always the majority in mind. Cash too, always that as well.

  10. Just shows how comfortable the west has got that we can choose to turn down medicines that benefit 95% of the population and have eradicated deadly diseases. Vaccines aren't about you, they're about protecting the majority, assuming you're healthy enough.

I'm not surprised that opinion over science is gathering momentum. Apparently there are people under 25 who think Hitler has been misrepresented and that Putin is currently being misrepresented. Wonder how many Wakefield will be responsible for in the end, it's likely in the millions already.

investment wise the club has done itself a massive favour this week.

most importantly we have stayed in the Premiership, we have now navigated PSR and hopefully the worst of that is behind us.

the team and fans where amazing in the derby - if other buys have stated to look at us this week in a bit more detail, then they truly witness the passion of the Everton faithful. That can't have done us any harm.

    we can only hope.

Hate to break it, but PSR is far from over.
