Lol but spot on. Many of us have said Martinez would make a great sporting director. Knows a philosophy and is excellent at scouting and signing players. He just is awful tactically and game management wise.

I've been backing Ross even during the last few weeks but after today he deserves to be benched. Did nothing. Lazy and although he never defends, today he didn't even really offer much going forward. Play kev or Gerry there next match.

But you still need to ask the question; why have we got the most talented squad in thirty years? Who's responsible for that? But everyone wants him sacked.

If Moshiri does what you all want and get rid then you need to get get on your knees and thank Roberto for the team he's put together, but nobody will because pack mentality has set in when that happens reason goes out of the window.

MikeO is a clever and wise man, he knows his own support is not limitless. Just like mine. I know you only mean it light hearted...but a message to all those who have doubted Martinez from day 1...there is no glory in this situation.

It's extremely frustrating that almost every goal we score has to be the result of some miraculous luck or a momentous display of skill. Almost never do we score because we execute something. We've grown increasingly imprecise in our structured play. This is why we can't win at home or when we have all of the ball. We make it easy for the defending team. We're a threat on the counter attack, because we don't give our opposition a chance to get set, and our skilled players make something happen at speed. It's an absolute joke that, with the players we have, we can't boss teams. Our players are highly skilled, more so than most of our opposition. Yet, we see teams of lesser skilled players play a more precise and controlled game. Currently, there are many of those such teams above us in the table. Though the players have to share some blame, there's only so much they can do with skill alone.

Frustrated. Again. And for the first time all of my frustration is felt towards Martinez.

The team went 1 down because LVG changed Uniteds play. Our players at that point looked like they had already lost. They looked like they had no belief that they'd get back in the game.

    And that's Martinez que.

Fair enough, Mirrallas comes on. But then to just sit and wait...and wait...and wait until 87 minutes to make your next move is just shambolic. Players aren't just suddenly going to start creating chances when they have struggled for much of the game. Players who have struggled to hold onto the ball, to string 2 passes together etc aren't just suddenly going to turn it on. If their having a bad game, get them off.

For the very first time I am 100% pissed off at Martinez. Not because we lost...but because I don't feel he did enough to get us back into the game.

I don't know. I'm just angry today anyway to be honest.

Martinez gonna get pulled apart here but it's Colemans error that cost us today.
Not happy with Barkley. Lazy today

Even though we've been crap in parts, we don't deserve to lose this game.

Your still young and have plenty of time.

Absolutely gobsmacked at people justifying this behavior, if its true I can only imagine how destabilising it is for players who actually care about the club.
9 games, a semi and possible final to play for fuck sake.

No one's blaming him for it all...were just not giving him a free ticket because he's too good for us either.

I want him to stay. But Ffs a little respect never hurt anyone.
Remember when we beat Man U, Aresnal and Barca for his signature... Ye me neither.
Yet we owe him so much for choosing us over West Brom.

Use us as a stepping stone by all means, but show some humility while your here.

I'm sorry but Martinez has done nothing wrong today... It is not his fault that his strongest possible side has came onto the pitch and offered absolutely nothing.

At least someone can see that.
But obviously Martinez has instructed them to only put in 50% ;-)

Let's see how we start the second half.

I actually thought we started quite fast but then got hit by a decent move
..shit defending. Since then we have been lethargic.

Players need to take some of the responsibility. Martinez has played nearly the same team and this is how they repay him! I think most on the forum would have had a similar if not same starting 11.

He's not the only one in our side who can be lazy and have games pass him by, but he does seem to be the only one who gets pulled up for it.
For example, against Chelsea Ross Barkley was lazy and for the majority of the game he was anonymous. Rom is criticised for not being "up for it" often enough and Ross most definitely was not "up for it" against Chelsea, and he's not "up for it" a hell a lot of the time. But barely a word about that. No extra 10 pages added on to his thread. No posts saying he needs a kick up the arse, or that we should sell him if a good offer comes in and replace him with a lesser player.

I didn't bring it up because he went on to play a role in both of Rom's goals, which is what I (we) want him to do. Just like I (we) want Rom to score goals and is why when he does score goals I can cut him some slack for some negatives in the game, just like I did for Ross against Chelsea.

Everything good Rom does seems to come with the word "but" on the end. He scores goals galore but his first touch is crap. He's improved his hold-up play but his right foot isn't great. He uses his strength better but he doesn't win enough headers. He has improved his fitness but he doesn't get up for games enough...

Always looking to find a negative point to make about him. I really don't get it. For christs sake, he's improving all the time as he learns, same as Ross, so appreciate the strides he's making in EVERTON blue instead of always looking to tear him down. He's one of the best strikers around and he's nowhere near finished yet and while he's ours we should make the most of it, enjoy it.

I thought Elstone would be one of the first out the door after a handover period. How did he manage a promotion to the board instead, given his track record of underwhelming commercial deals?

Late to the party as I dont check in on the weekend. Just two quick notes:

    1. I'm consistently the over-positive one on this board and I will keep that going. These games are why being an Everton fan is so special. Family, atmosphere, effort, courage. When those things combine into one performance I just sit there in complete and sheer delight. I dont want billions of dollars, i dont want diego costa ability, eden hazard ability, john terry ability, mesut ozil ability, yaya toure ability, raheem sterling ability etc. More than anything, more than any trophy, i want players who pull on the blue shirt with pride and show their effort on the pitch. Trophies are short term examples of superiority. Family, atmosphere, effort, courage are lifelong endeavors only the best achieve.

    2. That was the best performance by a match official i can remember. take a bow michael oliver, that was a proper job.

People would really go with thier ego rather than see our manager engineer a win over a very good Chelsea team to reach a semi final?
