I don't know anyone who still buys/plays non MRPG's PC games (other than Skyrim in the last 5 years) and even then I only know one person who has bothered with DOTA2. I quit clan gaming a year or 2 ago, but might start again with the new Farcry 3. I've still kept up with most single player games since though, and mainly use Steam. I didn't really bother with CS. The original Farcry was my first real venture into the online thing, although there were many choices back then. We ran clans and leagues throughout Europe, and owned our own servers / Teamspeak servers etc and even trained as teams. It was all quite serious fun. I broke all the ones I used before simply by the force of pressure, and that was a good few years ago. Cheaply made foreign products all said. A internet cafe opened nearby when I was a teenager so introduced me and a few friends to LAN gaming otherwise I'd never had played PC games other than Champ man and Astro Boy as a youngster. I swayed towards Castle Wolfenstein, Half-Life and its CS for the multi, hated stuff like Doom hurt my eyes and made me feel sick. One friend from halls was into his gaming big time with the tournaments for Team Fortress, it all sounded too serious to be fun for someone like me. Most of my mates love the multiplayer however so it usually makes a good night me and my mates having a shoot-up online (even if the COD Community is full of bell-cheeses). It's just that we have both models at home from years ago but all controllers had to be thrown away as they eventually broke or snapped through force of play. They're made of damn lousy material. Not a major issue, but what sort of retailers would be a good bet for having a look, we don't reply to adverts in papers or use E-Bay or anything. Lowensda Posted November 14, 2012 Report Share Posted November 14, 2012 I'm not a 'massive' Halo fan, I like the games don't get me wrong, I think they're far too samey for their own good but I came across these the other day. Low budget 'real life' Halo mini-films...I really enjoyed them. The acting in parts is shocking, but I like what they've done with it and can see now (based on watching them) that it could be done with a big budget. The 'shorts' get better as they go on, but some of the graphics in one scene were spectactular. Great Job. Is there are store called CeX near you? Because they specialise in selling cheap, hand stuff and they would probably sell you a PlayStation for a few quid. If you don't have one of those you could try Gamestation but I don't know how many of them are left after the recession hit hard on the games industry. Yes, I got hold of a new controller at the weekend, from a store near the harbor that sells all kinds of similar merchandise, and it was a fair price too. Only trouble was, it has those damn direction sticks that come out the bottom that can get in the way of fingers when you play games. (Some PS games only work with these devices though), but still a damn nuisance sometimes. We still have The Getaway Black Monday somewhere and it's a damn fine game, that the other controllers can only be used for, so will come in handy after all.
