Avinalaff
Best pundit on tv for a while ? A guy who knows the game, and knows how to give credit where credit is due, be it City, Everton, or other. I think he would make an excellent assistant manager for us. rubecula
WOW Avin that would ruffle a few feathers.
Avinalaff
You don't like him Rubes ? I think he says things like they are without an underlying agenda like some. Time for MOTD bore boys to take absence.
Hafnia
He's an outstanding pundit, best by a country mile. The insight he gives the viewers is excellent, you can see why he was the best right back in the country for so long, his attention to detail in terms of understanding patterns of play is second to none. Take away all the nonsense about him being a spoilt kid who can't stand losing, the lads a winner who will succeed in whatever he chooses to do in life. Any wonder England seem so much better defensively??? Romey 1878, Bailey and Matt
c1982
Top pundit - liked him from day one on Sky (liked him as a player though too - top pro!) Think a few kopites and citizens will be forgetting former rivalries and like him now.
MikeO
What's with his hair though ? Looks like a small animal has died on his head. stuart1971

Romey 1878
I really thought I was going to hate him when it was first announced he'd be working for Sky but he's excellent and doesn't show any sort of bias, which was a massive surprise. And when he commentates he's the best there too. Martin Tyler used to be my favourite commentator but Neville shows him up for what he really is; a top four arse licker. Ian C
Yeah, had some kopite family over last night and even they were talking about how good Gary Neville was. Top class pundit. That Ed Chamberlain guy is a fucking wanker though.
Bailey
Yep I agree he is top notch. I used to really rate Andy Gray and he is the best since he was pushed. I think Neville & Wilkins are the only two pundits who seem to know what they are talking about as the rest are crap. The one who commentated on us on Monday couldnt even tell the difference between Osman & Pienaar half the time!
stuart1971
For obvious reasons I didnt like him as a player, but he has certainly excelled as a pundit. I guess that comes from only just retireing and being fresh still...he still is Rat Boy though !!!
MikeO
Was annoyed he made excuses for the linesman the other night. "Attacker running in one direction and the defender in the other makes it difficult" . I don't suppose the poor lino had ever come across anything like that before, such a rare occurance . rubecula
OUCH that is cutting, MikeO. But yes I agree, he should not be making that kind of excuse. It may be true, but too blatantly obvious to mention as a pundit. Just saying he (the linesman) was unsighted would do the job better I think. Lowensda
I liked the line "I needed to retire due to partnerships like that of Baines and Piennar". or to that degree. That made me laugh. Edited September 20, 2012 by tenaciousj
Dalziel Kane
I have nothing against Neville as an individual or player, but not sure if I'd want him as a future assistant manager at Goodison Park.
MikeO
I have nothing against Neville as an individual or player, but not sure if I'd want him as a future assistant manager at Goodison Park. Is there any suggestion that he's likely to get the post ?

MikeO
The author said 'he would make an excellent Everton assitant manager' Ah right....missed the first post, or more likely forgot it .
Hafnia
I'd have him as an assistant manager in a heartbeat. His attention to detail is unreal, he called out John Terry's error and is not afraid to voice his opinion, even with his England connections. The lad is a winner. It would mean we could get rid of round and seriously get someone in who can coach some attacking variations, other than left side or knock it up option we tend to use.
