I'm with Cornish Steve on Stones having a poor game today. He allowed Hooper that great chance early on, played Van Wolfswinkel onside for a good chance and misjudged a few other things. He did make a few great, composed plays though to make up for it. I'm thinking maybe some of these issues come down to Jags not being the best partner for him.

I'm guessing he's the one player who really needed some rest. Came back from injury, played two games, is still getting his feet under him again, and Roberto felt fully confident in Oviedo to handle the day. I really don't think he's going to ManUre this month.

Very sad that players in that position decide to go for the pen rather than trying to score the goal, probably lacked confidence that he could put it away.
 
Would've been better if Tim had just let him score (though understandable what he did).....with an hour plus to go we'd almost certainly have turned it around with eleven men on the pitch.

Sunderland got lucky today. We went after them and forced that ogre to make same excellent saves. Something went wrong for us and they got lucky. We still rallied and showed a lot of spirit and were really unlucky not to equalize. I can't say I'm disappointed in how we played this out. A point or three would've been amazing, and our play certainly warranted that. But, oh well, it wasn't meant to be today. At least the pressure of remaining unbeaten at home is off. And, hey, we can try a few new things against Southampton (because, well, we have to).

This. I know I've said this before, but I don't understand why people say he wasn't great the second time around. 6 assists in 9 matches played. I'm not sure those were all starts either. Sure, there were no goals that time around. But his effect on our play was dramatic.
