johnh got a reaction from StevO in Christmas
Was in the supermarket checkout queue behind an old dear. Must have been even older than me! When it was her turn she found she was £4.36 short and was visibly upset. I did the right thing though and put all the items she couldn't afford back on the shelves. Well, it is Christmas.

There is no way that either of those VAR disallowed goals would have been disallowed if it had been Liverpool, Man U or Man C involved.

johnh got a reaction from Cornish Steve in Jokes thread
Went in second-hand furniture store. They had a coffee table with a label 'Van Gogh coffee table'. I asked the shopkeeper why it was called that. He said 'it's got a bit of veneer missing'.

Spotted in America.
In the UK, 'Booster Shot' is spelt: BOOSTCHESTERSHIRE SHOT.

Can't see it being ready by Christmas.

Now that we are getting a bit of cold weather, it highlights the benefit of Covid masks. Doesn't half keep your nose warm.

johnh got a reaction from MikeO in Brexit...
Let me use the House of Lords in an analogy. Lets assume that the (unelected) House of Lords were all powerful and ran the country. We all got a vote for MP's in the Commons but they had minimal power or influence - a sop to democracy. This would be a perfect example of the EU, an unelected powerbase with MEP's as a sop to democracy.

That's exactly right. People don't know what the EU is, what it does............ This is because it is continually evolving. It started off as a 'Common Market' with the ultimate aim of becoming a 'super state'. The EU elite knew that they could never get that objective accepted by (most) member states which is why it is being done piecemeal. The pace will quicken though if we vote to remain. Those who think the EU is democratic because there is a vote for MEP's must have the EU elite laughing all the way to the bank. The 'elite', where the real power is invested, can't be shifted.

johnh got a reaction from Matt in Rafael Benitez
For several games now we have played a first-half as though we only had 9 men on the pitch but then play the second-half like a top six team. The fact that this has happened several times over the last couple of months means it is down to the manager. He changes formation, tactics and players at half-time, which seems to work. How does he get it so wrong for the first-half?

johnh got a reaction from Bailey in Wolverhampton Wanderers (Away) 1st Nov
Yes, I agree. We have, (at a push) eleven Premiership quality players in the squad. A few injuries and we have to bring in Championship quality players and that is overly generous to one or two. We desperately need a clear-out and a bit of quality brought in, particularly in midfield.

I deliberately didn't post earlier as I wanted to think about all the issues and post a considered and carefully thought out review.
'We were absolutely bloody crap and the players and manager should be ashamed of themselves.'

Coleman wasn't thanking the fans. He was apologising, just kept saying "we know" and shrugging his shoulders in complete confusion as to what we'd all just witnessed.
Special mention to the official today. They were fucking awful, like Rondon levels of shite. I don't usually comment on the ref but he gifted them everything and ignored a few of theirs. Never had a grip of the game, it was embarrassing. Whoever gave the call to overrule the offside was also inept. How Grey is supposedly interfering with play or whatever bullshit term they've coined for this season is a joke too.
The most obvious 10v12 I've seen in years.
