johnh got a reaction from Matt in Carlo Ancelotti
Apparently, Carlo has stated that we will definitely be in a European competition next year - even if he has to write the song himself.

johnh got a reaction from Gwlad in Qualifying for Europe
The last thing we need is the Europa Conference League. Flying down to some god forsaken place in eastern Europe for a Thursday night game isn't what we need. Depths of winter too. Though we would probably be out of it before it got too cold,😁

Agree with this. It is down to Ancelotti, the buck stops with him. We have had some games this season where we have played some excellent football and had good wins against good sides, so the quality is there. Unfortunately, for most games, that quality disappears. Players can't be arsed. No effort, no work rate. First, it is down to the manager. The problem has been staring him in the face for most of the season. Second, we need a 'Roy Keane' type captain who can sort out the players on the pitch.
Like someone posted on here, am not interested in the final games. Not bothered if we lose and if we win then its too little too late.

The summer priority is a clear-out. All those who jog through a game and have a poor work rate. We don't even need to replace with better players. Just getting players of equal ability who works hard and earn their wage would be a plus.

Good news that, really pleased for you. I have been through similar. I took a voluntary redundancy after never being out of work for 40 years. I got a good package but still had to find another job. I had two in the first 18 months, neither of which was right. I was then fortunate to get what was the perfect job for me and I stayed there until I retired.
Hope it all works out for you dunlopp.

johnh got a reaction from pete0 in Arsenal (Away) Friday 23 April
The Daily Telegraph Sport (alias the Liverpool FC Promotional pamphlet) didn't even have a match report on last nights Everton game. The only comment was printed under the Premier league table. 'table not including last night's game'.

johnh got a reaction from Matt in Corona Virus
You and me both Matt. I actually found a discarded mask on my drive, just yards from the front door. Could only have been dropped by a delivery man. The drive is too long for it to have come from someone out in the street. Whoever dropped it was obviously taking it off as they were going back to their van, so they must have known they had dropped it. Just couldn't be bothered picking it up.

If you look at the teams above us, they all have a far superior goal difference (even West Ham!). Not surprising when you see the chances we missed tonight. Break the bank and buy Aguero, we need someone who knows where the net is. Aguero would have had a hat-trick tonight.

You're right there Palfy. One further story about that voyage was that my mates arranged for a record to be played over the ship's tannoy to celebrate my birthday. The next day, there was another birthday record played and it turned out to be the guy I had sat next to at school. I remembered that his birthday was the day after mine. There were over a thousand troops on board and he took some finding, but I did find him and we had a good chat. That was the last time I ever saw him. I schooled in Liverpool and we moved to Leeds in 1951.

Reading an article about the Suez Canal blockage. It said that ships may have to go round the Cape of Good Hope. I thought 'what's new'. In early 1957 the Suez Canal was still closed due to the Suez crisis. My troopship, returning from Singapore, had to go round the Cape. Took 42 days to get to Southampton and I had my 21st birthday in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

The last two England rugby matches have involved French referees. I think they have to attend a meeting with Macron in the week before the game to get their 'orders'.

Just booked my first trip, in May, to Iceland. If all goes well, then will follow up with Asda in June and Tesco in July.
