Ant1979 got a reaction from Sibdane in Gerrard views on here
He's a very very good player. Definitely a level below Iniesta for example though, amongst others.

Regarding the 'proving it at world level' argument, which applies to other examples given of Messi, C. Ronaldo, etc. Personally I think that the business end of the champions league is unquestionably a world class stage to prove yourself on. The World Cup isn't the only bench mark of a true great, some are stuck (George Best) playing for a shit team with no hope of international glory

Good luck with that Bill, the thing is though it doesn't really matter how many years Martinez has on his contract, if the right offer comes in for him from the right team he will go.....if HE really wants to.

A Spanish giant, or a Russian/Arab oil barron will pay off any existing contract for the man they want.

Our hope as Evertonians must be that Martinez will see a great future at Everton and that guiding a club like us to big things is possibly more of an achievement than maintaining the success of some rich win everything club.

When he does eventually leave, let's hope he's done a brillaint job.

Maybe now he'll realise he's only "plucky, little, David Moyes", and always has been, and he'll be less of a tit.

Ant1979 got a reaction from Kant in Would Fellaini fit in our team today?
There's no way United will take half what they paid after just one season, especially after paying £4m more than they needed to! The fact that not one club came in for him at the £23.5m buy out clause says a lot too. To answer the title of the thread, yes he COULD fit into the team theoretically, but he wouldn't improve it as it currently stands (just my opinion of course). Barry and McCarthy are both better midfield options. If Barry signs elsewhere this summer, then I still wouldn't want Fellaini back. I would take a chance on M'Vila if he's available (if we don't have Barry), his attitude issues are something I think Roberto would excel at dealing with

So many holes in his story.

This one is as blatant as any...we all know the first shot hit her in the hip. Now, if someone gives you a dead arm, you would shout at least 'ow you bastard'. He claims she made no noise upon being shot in the hip. No noise? She got shot in the hip before falling down...but made no noise?!

I would love to share that opinion but I can't, the reality is that he has proven to be an excellent manager for Liverpool. It would be churlish to say otherwise. He has taken players like Henderson and Sterling and improved them. Kept suarez and sturridge happy, found a good role for Gerrard to influence the games.

    He has done very well.

    A Few Years Back
My neighbor is from Manchester and he's a United fan. He's over here coaching a local University team. One night we starting talking soccer. I asked him which EPL team I should follow, as I knew nothing about the teams (or anything EPL, or anything soccer). After a series of questions, he determined I'm an Everton guy. Turns out to be a good fit.

    Last Fall
The wife asked what I wanted for my 40th bday next year. I said, "to see an English soccer (football) game (match)". (I'm learning the terms.) She said OK. I've got a good one.

    Tomorrow Night
I board a plane with Man U fan, and another neighbor whose wife is also too kind. So the three of us Minnesotans will be there on Sunday. But first we'll see Blackburn v Yoevil on Friday. And some other stuff on Saturday. Maybe a cricket match? Or rugby?

Looking forward to the Victory on Sunday!!

I don't see Martinez "resting" Lukaku no matter the Arsenal result. They win then a win for us is a must. They lose then a win is a must for us.

Ant1979 reacted to Hafnia in A Champions League spot is still a real possibility
Shit... This is all very tense. I was a bag of nerves watching that yesterday.

The arsenal extra time was ideal. Allardyce will be looking to capitalize on those tired legs on Tuesday. Remember what we were like in 85 after playing just 3 days before in the ecwc final.

If west ham get a result I think we will do it. That could put us 5 clear if we beat palace. Enough buffer for a couple of draws.

Ant1979 reacted to Hafnia in Would Fellaini fit in our team today?
For me Fellaini lacks one key attribute to play in Martinez style of play - Passing. Anything more than a 15 yard ball becomes a risk for him. Compare him to Barry or McCarthy.

His speed is the other issue, McCarthy demonstrates the ideal mobility for a DM, he eats up the ground, can accelerate and change direction better. Fellaini one vs one isn't good enough, he has more successful dribble attempts on him than anayone else.

His physicality and ability to bring a long ball down is a good attribute, but we don't play in such a way that it would be a big asset to the team. Under Moyes - yes.

Not being fickle, for a certain team he could be a very influential player - not ours.

I'd rather just keep the money in our pocket. Obviously we wouldn't be paying £27.5m for him but he'd still cost us more than we originally paid for him. It's just not worth it and neither is he.

Martinez was always happy to get shut of him, there's a reason for that.

Honestly, if I was the CEO and saw this, I would have some very strong things to say. It is simply not acceptable to see Everton's commercial income so low - relative to position in the league, successes of the club, rich history, and so on.

This is from a few weeks ago but at that time he said he hopes to be involved in the last 4 games of the season. Also he has a lot of praise for Roberto, resckons he's the best manager in the PL, also thinks champions league will be achieved next year if not this year
