Sent 27 US over today. Should be something around 20 quid. I'm miserable with exchange rates so I tried to overestimate.

Obviously none of us know the future, but what we've seen from Stones thus far suggests to me he will continue to improve and that improvement will make him more valuable next summer. If Man U and maybe even European teams get involved in the bidding for him, his price goes through the roof. There's new TV money in 2016 as well.

Point is, I think it much more likely than not, say 90/10, that Stones sells for more in 2016 than he would have sold for in 2015. Obviously bad shit happens all the time, but I totally support Everton's approach to this situation.

Don't see how we don't leak one or two if we don't tighten up in the midfield. Way too many give aways.

Howard really bailed his mates out there. Flaccid in the attack again. Lots of passing without purpose.

Geri deserves a start given his League Cup performance. Not sure he can play 90 minutes though, so if RM starts him, he needs to have a plan B for the last 15-20 minutes. Wouldn't mind seeing Mirallas for Kone but I've felt like Lukaku has been more effective with Kone in the game. LB could be an issue but I don't think there is an easy solution.

I've watched almost as much Spurs as I have Everton this season. They look like us last year--punchless and passionless. Kane looks helpless up front and they can't seem to keep a lead. They have to be a little fragile mentally. If we can come out with energy, purpose and creativity, I think we can break their spirit. (And really, Kane was incredibly lucky to score the amount he scored last season.) We have the potential to win the game and win it easily if we come prepared and focused.

I hope we tell him no. He's young enough that he absolutely needs top level game time to improve so he's in no position to pout or refuse to play. If he continues to improve and wants a transfer next August, we should deal him early in the window. Until then, he needs to get his ass on the field and play his best, because that's what's best for him and that's what's best for Everton.

I'm pretty fucking drunk but I can't keep from thinking about how much I love Everton. I want to stay up all fucking night just to get to our game against Man City tomorrow morning. I'm being dramatic but Everton has connected with me like no other team. I love this club. I love this club. Let's beat those cunts from Man City and claim our rightful place in the table.

What was the reception for the Friday night match in England? Is it something that I should expect to see more of?

Personally, I liked it. I took off of work a little early to get home and watch. I would love to see a 2:45 Eastern US time game on Saturdays too. Here in the States the network honchos prefer night games because they tend to get better TV ratings. Sunday night, in particular, is pretty sought after. Games will start as late as 9:30 p.m. on the East Coast to get the broadest viewership possible.

RM must have given the boys a proper kick in the ass because this is the best half of football I've seen from them since the United game last season.

I'm excited. This is only my second season following closely so I don't carry the baggage of many years of disappointment. I'm happy to be an Everton supporter and will be for the rest of my lfie. Sure last season was super disappointing but I really think this team is very talented. Stones, Barkley and Lukaku and going to improve and be even better and that's going to be a solid spine of the team (Barkley will be more of a bounce back from the sophomore slump situation). Howard absolutely can't be worse than he was last year--if he regains 10% of his form, that's worth a half dozen points by itself. Even if he's past it, Joel showed enough last season that I think RM can't turn to him sooner rather than later in that situation.

Cleverly has something to prove. Jags is a solid pro. Delo is an exciting addition. Mirallas can be infruating but he has moments of real brilliance. And it looks like some of the young guys have played well in pre-season.

Of course, what has been said about depth is true. If Kone has to play significant time...that's a nightmare.

But overall I'm optimistic. Can't wait for the 8th!

I have a German acquaintance on twitter (surely the world's most reliable source) that swears that Klinnsman was massively overrated as the German manager. That is starting to look more and more plausible.

I can't say that I'm anti-JK at this point, but I can't really look at the results over the past few years and say that he has greatly advanced American men's soccer. Sure we made it out of the group stage in 2014, but we did the same in 2010. It was a close game against Belgium, but they dominated the game from start to finish. Won the Gold Cup in 2013, lost it in 2015. The style of play is better--more possession, less reliance on counter-attacking--but it isn't producing better results. (And in our big friendly wins, we basically just did the counterattacking thing.)

So progress under Klinnsman? Mixed at best. My understanding is that he has emphasized the youth programs. I watched almost all of the USA games at the U-20 WC and it did seem like we have some promising players. I don't know if that buys him another 4 years though.

Can't take much away from that. Cuba was crap. But it was fun to see a 6-0 win after this morning's Everton disappointment.

Agree here. Howard is done with the national team for major competitions and Klinsman and Howard both know it. There's too much young talent behind him.

I'm an American supporter of Everton. I'd like to support the squad by buying season tickets, but obviously I won't be able to attend most of the games, and often probably any of the games. I want to support the team though. If I bought season tickets, could I trust Everton in the community to give them to worthy people? Does Everton have a program like that?

I hope to get over soon for a match, but other than watching on TV I can't do much now.

Dumb idea? Be honest with me Evertonians!
