Best game he had for us in a long time, seems to have got his head together over the summer, two very good and vital stops, and better control of his area than we’ve seen. Kicking still hit and miss though.

Pickford, made two vital stops I the first half and took control of his area with good punches in the second. Good all round performance with no one stinking the place out like last season.

Significant improvement in the pace and way were playing, passes going forward rather than across all game, for the first 45 mins for a new midfield playing together I’m happy.

Mike, I’ve just found this thread after seeing your MOM post yesterday. So sorry to read what you’ve been through over the past few weeks, it’s very brave to write such personal stuff, I hope it helps you in coming to terms. I’ve always rated and liked him, he’s always been a thorn in our side, I think he will become a crowd favourite if he does the sort of stuff the video shows.

I’d say the opposite about his leadership, he’s brilliant at pointing where he wants others to play the ball though.

Davies and Gomes are far too easy to run past, and don’t have the pace to turn and catch up with play, Delph I’ve no idea as he’s never fit enough to be on the pitch. Dacoure for me is a big upgrade on Gana, similar engine and disrupter, but far better goal rate and at bringing others in to play. I remember him steamrollering in a goal against us at Goodison.

Didn’t Steck and Lossl both have that?

He’s had plenty of efforts at home that I can remember, not sure about away. Either way his return should be better.

Just checked to MOTM scores, he has 25 points, appalling return from a player with PL winners medals, I’ll be happy to see him move on.

I’d say it was 50/50, some games outstanding and others woeful, needs to improve the % to 75-80 at least.

We need to give Tom a season with Carlo and in a better midfield to see him improve and assess if he’s worth keeping, it’s too soon to do that now.
