We were literally a millimetre from making it 2-2 & at that point I really believe we could have gone on from there. The third is simply us chasing the game at the death, I’ve no issues with it being 3-1 at that point chasing it.
As mentioned above, Myko had a huge chance that came a bit too quick to him & the defender blocked it + gray hit the post. We also played 60 odd minutes with Maupay who cannot work in that system unless he has a presence with him.
I will concede baileys point that they had a lot of time on the ball.  However the 2 times they scored before the penalty came from individual defending errors by letting their man get around them on the outside.
United have been seriously good lately & we made them work for that.

I’m just watching the Newcastle games, SW first goal is offside, not by much, but more than Gray was last night, no VAR at this game, it’s a totally uneven way to run a completion, it’s either at all or none.

No disrespect by this mate, but all this stat stuff is ruining your opinions.
I just simply watched the game.
I saw Gray hit the post for example.
I saw the effort that Myko had that was blocked by the defender when the keeper was beat.
I saw and celebrated Doms goal which was a great move.

No stats on a web site are going to tell me all that never happened. So ye let’s just agree to disagree mate 🙂
    Im still right though 😉

Not in any way were we played off the park. I can tell you 9k Everton fans would have told the world if we did.

Of course they are superior, that’s just blind logic. Same as City and many teams in the league.
But what just happened over that 90 minutes was not a team just turning up and getting played off the park. It was a team that had a go and almost equalised. We had them worried, we created chance, we got behind them.
I would much prefer that performance than a Brighton performance any day.

Can't ask for more from the team tonight. Much better performance than way to City. If the team play like this for the rest of the season there's no way we're going down. Gutted we're out of the FA cup but taking a lot of positives. Goodison Park faithful, lets get behind them like we did against Chelsea last May, be the 12th man.

Lots of stuff being written by media about how Lampard hasn't actually done anything special.
He's reunited a club with its fanbase, how can they not see that!!
Massive summer ahead, feel confident Lampard will get it right with squad changes

Great result, play like this and we'll get Europa. Fans on 27mins showed what we're really about. I think Benitez may be making his mark on the club, not from tonight's result, but I wonder how much influence he had on first the doctor going and then Brands. Anyway I'm gonna have a few beers.

Again, James fucking Rodriguez - give him the keys to the city. World class delivery that's just asking to be buried, he's been outstanding today - MOTM by a country mile.

Look, that was a great 3 points. Great first half, they showed us what they can do, terrible second half (in fairness I thought the players looked knackered) but they dug in and we got the result. That was probably the most nervous last 20 minutes of armchair viewing that I've seen as an Evertonian in a long time. And the reason for that is because I believe we can achieve something this season, every 3 points matters. We have two winnable matches ahead of us (home to Leeds and away to Burnley) and then the dreaded hard December. 6 points from our next two games and December won't look so daunting. It goes like this, home to Chelsea, I'd hope to win, then away to Leicester, will be a tough match but would hope for a least a draw, maybe sneak a win depending on injuries etc, then at home to Arsenal, again I'd hope for 3 points. Next away to Sheff Utd, another possible 3 points, next up Man C at home, we'd probably settle for a point but they're not great. As I've said before I haven't felt this excited about our club since 1984 and I remember the gut wrenching fear of dropping any point back then. And I feel that now. We're close to achieving something. I remember a few years back when Klippity took over the red shite and people on here ( or maybe it was the old forum on the official website which sadly got closed, good laugh, but you can't get way with that carry on these days) were pissed off that they had a plan, a vision and we seemed so directionless. I agreed. But now I believe that we have a plan, a vision,(our stadium included, though I'll miss Goodison). DCL is fast becoming a superstar. All of Ancelotti's signings look great, we wouldn't have had them otherwise. Richarlison is probably our most important player at the moment and has been instrumental this season. Previously we would have lost him. Lets win a cup this season( I don't care which), qualifiy for Europe (I don't care which) and win the league 2021/22. And most importantly, let the fans in before the end of this season.

If we’re serious about top 4 we need the next 9/9. Fulham Leeds and Burnley. After that it’s Chelsea Arsenal Sheffield City.

    HAHAHAHAHA!
For far too long things have gone against us in derbies, so I do not give a shiny shite that we should have lost out with decisions today. I'm going to revel in it.

This is our first real test of the season, not a great result that against Villa, wounded animal and all that. I've been vocally optimistic with my redshite mates. This is one derby that I think we can win, it won't be easy. I'll go with the Jazzbassist's selection, injuries dependent.
    I'm so excited!!!

Get in, great result. Last season we had an easy start and we fucked it up, this season we have a relatively easy start to the season and we're getting results. Today showed real character, determination to see us through. The players will grow in confidence if this continues and when we come up against the bigger teams we won't roll over. Our opening game against Spurs stated our intent. Onwards and , well we can't really go upwards can we, 'cause we're top of the league.

Can't wait to get back inside Goodison Park, it would be a real Everton thing to win something with the fans not able to get in.

I hope they don't rush it, I'd leave Dunc in charge for the next few matches (at least until the FA cup derby), I really don't see what we've got to lose. The danger for a new manager coming in now with the run of games we have if that if results go against us, the confidence will just drop and we end up back in the relegation zone in 5 or 6 games time. I can't see the manager turning that around. The atmosphere in the ground yesterday was great, the fans love Dunc and will give him a chance. As Shearer mentioned on MOTD, he seemed to unleash the monster in DCL, got him playing a more aggressive game, like Dunc played himself. If he does well into the new year I'd certainly give him the rest of the season unless we can get the right manager in the new year. The only manager I'd like to see would be Poch (obviously), but there absolutely no chance of that. Nobody else mentioned seems to fit for me. Would I take Moyes, yes I would. Sometimes you have to take a step backwards to move forward. Moyes knows the club and certainly won't get us relegated. I think we have to accept that top 6 may be a few seasons away. I do think the board need to sort themselves out though before we can make any real progress.
