He's Fat, Hes' Round, He's worth a million pounds.........................................Peter Reid, when a million pounds was actually a figure that registered in footballing terms, one of the first of our songs/chants that I could remember and have been singng to myself ever since.

No, never met Mike Batt, dad kept his work life and home life very separate. Met the odd DJ, Tony Blackburn and Jimmy Young spring to mind, Dave Lee Travis also but he was a total dick. As far as musicians Freddie Garrity and Barbara Dickson were about the extent of it, and funnily enough I met both again many years later when I was working in the industry.
Liking posts or downvoting is, as you suggest, just a bit of fun most of the time; I don't think anyone really takes it seriously. Liking old posts carries the same "weight" as liking new posts though.

My guess was that the difference between Phil Nevilles budget and Inchy's are not comparable probably couple of zeroes difference, so even the high paid players aren't paid that high, and geographically would guess difficult to attract most players, not being on east/west coast.
Have seen couple of games of TV and they seem to be a hard working honest side, but lacking real quality, and they have held their own in the games I've seen, I see them very much a work in progress and probably few years from consistency to challenge for honours regularly.
If they do sneak playoffs this season think they will be a good test for the opposition.
Like all you guys who love EFC because of Tim H, Landon or whoever, my MLS team is Minnesota United because of Inchy, and will remain my MLS team even after Inchy's gone, I hope he is there long enough to enjoy some success.

Hf,Hr,Hwamp..PR got a reaction from Matt in Yerry Mina
I think Yerry is propably our best CB at the moment, so some of this may appear harsh, but he causes me more worry and stress in matches than the rest including Keane (hoping Keanes 2 early brain farts are him for the season), it really frightens me, I mentioned Paolo Wanchope in the Utd matchday thread in regards to Rondon, and my problem with Yerry is that he shares the worst or Wanchope especially when he's gotta get a move on, sometimes it's like his brain doesn't know what his legs are doing, that in itself isn't a problem but it's the theatrical element he brings with it, it's sometimes like a panto, I get that some of it is Yerry playing up to it and some of it is done to wind up opponents, but because it's always in a defensive area I really just want want him to hoick it into rowZ instead of trying to shepard ball out under a lot of pressure, though in fairness to him can't really recall him costing us directly with his antics though he probably has, I wish he didn't make me so edgy, as I said at start think he is our best CB, but I would probably have Keane and Godders as my CB pairing as they probably compliment each other best. Also for a big guy he should be better with headers especially in opposition box.

Nah, but for a centre back strike should have, just watched it again and it's a much cleaner and better strike than I remember.
Don't think BBC gotm includes european games, Ossie's goal in my top 5 goals, favourite will always be Sharpie v The RS, closely followed by Sheeds double free kick v Ipswich.

Hf,Hr,Hwamp..PR got a reaction from dunlopp9987 in Allan
I'd want at least £80m for Allan and if we have to have Ramsey then it's £100m+Ramsey.
Seriously can't see this to be right and I don't think we should even consider selling Allan even though £80m for a 31yo would be good value for us, I believe this pocket dynamo could be integral for 3-4 years, 2 more good years then senior squad member, but this is dependant on being injury free and not falling off the cliff physically.
When rumours started we were getting him did my own research and best thing I read was from a Brazilian pundit who was asked something along the lines about what Allan brings to the pitch, and the reply was a subtle "He's a bastard" from then I wanted him, but thought as last season went on, he wasn't doing the right things, whether that was down to pace difference from Serie A or down to the coaching/lack of, this season, I know I'm new here but in the league for me our player of the season so far, because him doing the majority of the unnoticed stuff and keeping things simple, it has allowed those around him so much freedom (obviously with CAs methods it was protect James), and even though he is getting forward more this season he is still of the forward players furthest back but instead of being 40/50 yards from goal he is now 25/30 yards so he can effect our attack more. For me the comparisions with Reidy are there but the most important is the ability make us play 10yards further up the pitch and where Allan has been good is moving them up the pitch at the right time

Yes I'm another long time viewer and I don't really get involved with sites but now in my 50s my only true love and roller coaster of a relationship EFC, I thought why not share my madness.
I'm was fortunate to be born in 1971 and started going to GP when I was 12, so my standards from what I expect from  our team are set very high, and I see glimmers in this current squad that give me hope, and my hope was strenghtend in a chat with a red mate about Rafa, in summary he said he wishes Rafa well but doesn't want him to win anything with us, but he is a bit concerned as he thinks Rafa is a very good manager and can bring the best out of players (as we are seeing) so I share my hope and my mates concern.

Tried to join site after game to say this. I thought we played very well and when I saw possesion stats (MU 72%) couldn't believe we had so little of the ball, to give so little away in the way of real opportunities can think of 2, where Martial tried a CR7 hanging header(HA) and Cavani giving Pickford an awkward save, and the goal, other than that thought we were very comfortable, not a bad thing to say away to MU.
I thought 1-11 all did well obviously some errors but all round 6 and a half to 8's for peromance and 7-9 for effort.
Not a fan of Rondon yet, when I noticed him at Newcastle, he remined me of a Paolo Wanchope(sp) type very erratic and occassional moments of wonder!(Head scratching). What I have noticed about him here and in games before this, is there is a nuisance value in him, he is giving defenders something to think about which is all we can expect of him at the moment, don't expect his sharpness to get where we need it to be before DCL is back and then he can be useful either with DCL if we're chasing games, or to give DCL rest if we are comfortable.
Personally thought Allan and The Duke were immense, if Allan gets extended contract I'd consider him for Captain before Godders depending how long Seamus is still playing. The way Allan seems to have stepped up on the pitch I love, constantly giving orders pumping up the team, and leaving it all on the pitch and occasionally on opponents, closest thing to Carsley who is the closest to Peter Reid since Reidy, heart, passion and abilty to sense danger and sort it but prone to getting beaten sometimes bit easy, but at least tries to put it right.
The back five did as much as could be expected Mina and Keane the standouts, though also thought Digne had his best defensive game for a while, and have no worries Godders will improve fitness, hopefully over this international break and JP solid.
As for Andros and Demari, long may it continue.

For the BBC goal of the month just checked and it was Rooney v West Ham Nov 2017 and before that Barkley v QPR Dec 14 and v City May 14. Also noticed that the 4 goals of the months Sept-Dec 2011 were all scored against us!
Am sure Andros will have a least one more contender before end of season.

That's why for me, he just pipped Duke and Gray, he absolutely bossed it and did the majority of the dirty work (the things people don't notice) efficently i.e win ball give ball to blue shirt, I like that he generally keeps things simple.

Is it OK to talk MLS here? I couldn't find an MLS specific topic, I did search but if it should be somewhere else then mods feel free to move it.
I've never really been that taken with franchise soccer, am huge NFL and NHL fan franchise not my issue, but for the beautiful british game, football, lower level aspiration dreaming of playing further up the pyramid the dejection of relegation the joy of a promotion, to me is integral to the joy of football, but because of the MLS closed shop system I've never had a team to be interested in, but now I'm trying to follow Minnesota United.
So I wanted to ask especially our over the pond members what they think about Inchy's Minnesota side and how they have adapted as one of the newer settled franchises?
I know they weren't really ready when called so to speak, but they seem to be now holding their own in a very one sided division.

Hf,Hr,Hwamp..PR got a reaction from Palfy in Rafael Benitez
Remember second season with Silva (worst manager I recall, yes worse than Walker, though he seems to be doing ok at minute) we had a very favourable opening fixture list similar to this season look at first 6 games and hope for 18pts realistically take 13 pts(4w 1d 1l) Silva had us on 6/7pts (hurts to look it back up), Rafa had us on 13pts and playing the best football without the ball I can remember, and we are effective with it. He is a manager as well as a coach as well as a tactician as well as a father figure/headmaster, he didn't really have to win me over as although he wouldn't have been my choice (Thomas Franck), I could see the sense in his appointment after whats gone since Moyes left, a steady hand on the rudder, if towards the end of the season we are in the chase for europe (CL), I'm sure we will be more aggressive in the hunt than we were under CA. I definitely trust Rafa and he's on an upward curve at the minute, though he still has to improve my faith in him which will only come over time and with consistency, do wish he'd got more credit from the "pundits" this weekend, though they have been fairly complimentary about us/him this season.

"These are the sort of games, against the weaker sides, that if you’re serious about top 4, you have to win.
But I’m sure Everton will learn their lesson."
