Our luck was summed up perfectly with their second goal.

Why?
Danjuma is the only creative player we have on the pitch and looks the most likely to get a goal or assist 
Think we have played well here and do not deserve to be behind

It’s not hate. It’s seeing him being average but some seem to think that average makes him great. McNeil out performed him last season. He got into our team under Lampard because we had few other options and he improved, no doubt, but he’s not exactly been winning games for us. He’s not been very good out wide, we don’t play a style that suits him being in the middle. Not to mention that he gives the ball away too often in the middle. 
He’s been ok, nothing more than ok, for two years (but ok stood out because all of our creatives players have left) but before that he was absolutely shite. I don’t think anyone would disagree with that. 

Reminder, Iwobi only became our most creative player after we lost Richarlison, Digne, Siggurdsson and James. (Bernard, Walcott, Gomes and Baines can go into that list too)
Did he improve or did the standard around him drop? 
 
If we can get him out of the door for £20m+ we are doing well. If we can find a replacement then even better!

Watching a player like Iwobi, there is no way I'd ever have put him as more creative then a Maddison type player, or even most on that list

 

Anyone else expecting the departures to happen, but rumoured signings turn out to be just that? rumours.
and the classic 'we tried right up to the deadline, but couldn't quite get the deal done' to be rolled out.

Any footballer knows that you can ping balls across to the other side of pitch while warming up to each other, but put two players ten yards apart and ask them to pass the ball between them and you WILL see it bounce all over the place, even with premier league players.
Thats why the players that can do it are worth so much. Barca in the 2000’s we’re so good because they had a midfield that we’re all capable of doing it.
Man City do it for fun now.
Watched Newcastle v Liverpool and saw the midfield struggle to put five passes together. 
 
Phillips is a very capable player and would step into that slot perfectly for me. Gana is in his last year of contract and surely his legs are going to slow down next year. We need a player like Phillips to step into his shoes.
Then he can be my new focus 😉

I for instance am a fan of Godfrey still 🤡, so take my opinion with large pinch of salt 😂

Said this loads of times. He does the simple things that most can’t. Links defence and attack up with simple balls.
Quick five yard passes that so many players can’t complete.
Someone mentioned Phillips in another thread. We need to go for someone like that to replace him. No one else in the squad is capable of filling that hole.

Changed the game. No one else in midfield contributed anything like him. 

He made a massive difference when he came on. I think we’d have found it a lot harder to come back if he hadn’t come on.

I was expecting an away defeat today. However, it's the way we lost that's more disappointing.
Game was a little skewed slightly with both DCL then Iwobi, but game was lost before this.
I try not to take anyone game in isolation. So already Wolves and Sheff Utd have become massive games.

The rose tinted glasses are telling me things will be better when McNeil and Harrison back.
stick Danjuma in the #10 / Doucoure role and then pray we have the ever elusive striker.

Danjuma only positive to take away from this one

If we can't get 3 points next week against Wolves at home, that's as clear an indicator as any that we're fucked
