Hopefully United pull out of the hoijgard deal or drag it.
Man U seem to be getting deals done pretty quickly - unless something changes with Oshmein or Kane, I think the lad from Atalanta will be their main striking target and they’ll get it done quite quickly.

It is what it is. We agreed a deal with his club and he’s chosen to go elsewhere and now we move on to a different target.
Hopefully we have a list of players in the same profile - Toure is supposedly very similar to Calvert-Lewin - exactly what we need…

Iheanacho does not fit this profile!
I’m not opposed to signing him in addition to another who must be a target man like DCL.

That’s that then!

Romano says he's going to Marseille.
Just seen that - would have liked him here. I know Danjuma will play a similar role but still think we need another winger (along with Gnonto) in a similar mould to McNeil - Harrison from Leeds would be perfect in my opinion.

Could be nothing, could be because we didn't get something worked out for Gnonto
I think we’ll be after Gnonto and at least one more wide player in addition to Danjuma, as Gray will be off and there’s still uncertainty over Iwobi with that contract still unsigned. I like Sarr a lot - think he’s the perfect profile for right wing in a Dyche team with his quality forward and energy back - at the right price (£10m ish as 12months on contract) he’d be a steal but he’s another player who’ll be off to the AFCON in January!

Is the weather as bad on Merseyside today as at the Old Trafford cricket ground? First impressions and all that...
First impressions?! This is the 2nd time he’s completed his medical and had his unveiling photos etc in the past 6/7months! I just hope Contract Dave’s absence doesn’t put him off.

Some reports that we have signed him for £10 million.
Not saying we haven’t but he’s ‘currently’ in Thailand.

Supposedly agreed to go to Forrest?
The Gumps… he’s one where, if we’d have signed him, I’d have seen the positives but, if he’s going elsewhere, meh! From a Forest point of view Elanga, Gibbs-White and Johnson behind Awonyi (whatever he’s called) is pretty exciting - their defence is still shocking though!

There’s someone with a user name ‘toffeenut’ on another forum who obviously has links to the club who has cryptically confirmed (well if his clues have been deciphered correctly) that Iheanacho and Gnotto are in the pipeline. Alan Myers said 3 in and 3 out were near and has since said 2 could be done by the weekend… looks like Danjuma and Iheanacho as the 2 then. Both improve us in my opinion.
I’d be a little (very!!!) worried about our squad post-Christmas as that’d be Gueye, Doucoure, Iwobi and Iheanacho off to the AFCON - that’d put a massive strain on an already poor squad.

36 appearances, 12 goals, 3 assists
So is that 1 in 3 or a goal involvement every 12th touch or a win percentage of 86.473% when he steps onto the pitch?
Does this mean he’s good?

Wow you think hes a decent striker.
Decent player? Yes. Better than what we currently have (Maupay, Gray and Cannon) but I’m not 100% behind this signing as I’m not sure if he’d be useful in the system we’d play… much in the same way that I’d happily sell Gray on the basis that I don’t see where he fits in a Dyche team e.g. not good enough defensively on the wing and not effective enough as a striker.

If you ask me, it should still be more than three out. Maupay, Holgate, and Gbamin are three givens, but I'd add Gomes to the list. What would we lose? Keep players who, realistically, we expect to play, and bring in only players who, realistically, we expect to play.
100% in Maupay, Holgate, Gbamin and Gomes you’ve got some high wages and not a lot of quality - we’d probably get little in transfer fees but we need the wages off the books. My point about needing to sell first is because of the 90% or whatever of our spend going on wages - it’s far too high and the reason we can’t compete until we get more lucrative deals and financial benefits the new stadium will bring. We don’t have the extra millions we had when we were consistently in Europe and started paying silly wages under Koeman and we don’t have the Russian sponsorship deals which were bridging this. We’ve trimmed loads off the wage bill but we need every high paid 1st team squad player to at least useful! Gbamin on £120k per week and Holgate on £80k is horrendous when you look at players you could bring in on a fraction - we need to bring costs down and the best way to do it is youngsters and rough diamonds from abroad.

He was that good a striker his team were relegated.
Yeah because no decent players have ever been relegated.

No matter what is stats are he’s not for us, can’t see him playing the lone striker so won’t happen.
I agree on the lone striker point - needs a partner. His link up play is decent with a proper number 9 - Dyche has gone 2 ‘up top’ throughout his managerial career so may be looking to do it here eventually.

Total min = 7820
Total goals = 60
7820 % 60 = 130.3 surely that’s not right?
Where do they get these stats?Cant see the top line so guessing the 42 and 18 columns are goals prem and goals other?
He doesn’t play many 90mimutes so the stats are probably true. His goal involvement is decent to be fair. Underrated player in my opinion - instead of Maupay… great. Him and Maupay? No thanks!
-
Shockingly, Maupay’s one of our better striking investments in recent years… try ranking these since Lukaku left:
Sandro
Rooney
Tosun
Kean
King
Rondon
Maupay
I’d actually say Kean was our best signing there on the basis that he actually brought money in! We simply can’t survive another season with DCL as our only option!

Pickford/Virginia/Lonergan
Patterson/Coleman/Young
Mykolenko
Tarkowski/Keane/Holgate
Branthwaite/Godfrey
Iwobi/Gray
McNeill
Gueye/ Garner/ Onana/ Gomes/ Gbamin
Doucoure/ Dele
Calvert-Lewin/ Maupay
Add in Warrington, Dobbin and Cannon as players who have played league football and, no doubt, I’ve forgotten someone.
It’s a very poor squad, short on quality but I understand why it’s 3 out and 3 in as adding another 6 players to this squad before it’s trimmed could be a big mistake in itself.

I watched a bit of Brighton vs Brentford pre-season last night and Simon Adingra stood out in Mitoma’s role - looked incredible actually and scored 2 goals. Turns out, Brighton signed him last summer and sent him on loan to their sister club, just like they did the year before to develop Mitoma so that when they lost Trossard, they weren’t weakened! Proper, forward thinking football club!
