I don't recall 2 years ago (or any year for that matter) where we couldn't even sign FREE transfers.
Wolves have paid £44m for Cuhna this summer, making his loan a permanent deal, and spent wildly in January to stay up… like us previously, they’ve made their own mess!

Yes but it’s a complicated contract that changes after a certain amount of games hence Everton have already offered him a different contract.
it’s a case of can we afford to pay him what he wants or is due with games played.
Please explain? Does it trigger an extension or a release clause? The contract can’t get shorter if he doesn’t play surely?

What we need to do is offer him 40k if he doesn’t accept we sell him.
do I think he’s worth that amount no.
but we can’t afford to let him walk for nothing at the end of season.Branthwaite’s contracted until 2025.

Funny enough I said Marcus bent in my previous post.
We’ve lacked a Marcus Bent or Steven Naismith for far too long… we need these types desperately. They were never in anyone’s best 11 at the start of the season but played most games and gave a solid 7/10 - I’d probably put Osman and Kilbane in the same bracket.

@StevO I follow Matt - he seems very knowledgeable

This link is getting a positive response from many who I follow on Twitter - can’t say I’ve taken much notice of him personally. Fast, big and strong - ‘Dyche-type’ striker who we’d tracked previously before his move to Leicester - when he was a very highly rated prospect.
-
Another player at the AFCON. We’ve been linked to every Leicester striker now!

Seems a weird one, another LW? Why not Luka Jovic from them? 12 months left and they got him on a free.
He can play anywhere across midfield or attack supposedly. We’re getting linked to wingers as we need at least 1 more - McNeil, Iwobi and Danjuma isn’t enough with Gray likely to leave. We probably need 2.

West Ham are supposedly keen too.

I expect this name will pop up as the deadline draws closer (on-loan).

As for Maguire, it's lazy to say people only don't rate him because of his time at United. I've never rated him at any club, or country, that he's played for.
He's a calamity and I laughed my head off when United paid what they did for him because he was always going to be a shit show for them.
You, maybe, and I’m very aware you can form your own opinion but you’re very much an exception… there’s far more (not aimed at anyone on here) who will just go off what the tabloids say and have that as gospel.

Neither player is a patch on Mina who more or less kept us up.
People used Mina’s injuries as something to measure his ability - he was a liability and a waste of money of course BUT, when fit, easily our best centre back. Another popular opinion is Harry Maguire is rubbish… well he’d be our best centre back and probably a perfect replacement/upgrade on a fit Mina. Now I don’t want Maguire due to the wages and fee and the fact that I want Branthwaite to get game time this season but to say he’s rubbish just because he’s out of favour at one of the biggest clubs in the world and the tabloids/fans have him down as their scapegoat - well, it’s just lazy. He’s a victim of his over inflated price tag, high profile/expectations and previous hype - he’s still a top class centre back and leader and would be excellent under Dyche and probably Moyes, where I expect he’ll be playing next season.

I don’t think he touched the ball apart from for his goal… not a bad stat - a goal every touch!

Wilfried Gnonto
in Rumourama - Everton Transfer Rumours

The asking price may have been £30m or whatever from day one… in our precarious financial position with FFP, we need to penny pinch wherever we can and the structure of every deal is vitally important. We clearly want him and there’s clearly been contact but everything else is just propaganda… I expect Leeds will put out a line to suit them, Gnonto and his agent will put out a line to suit them and Everton and any other team interested will put out a line to suit them.
