c1982 reacted to Hafnia in Kalvin Phillips
He's 11 years younger than Young. He's an ex England international cos he was on the bench for Man City.
he's a loan signing.... struggling to understand the risk here.

The player must have done one of those tests to find out they were that many nationalities.

I’m guessing Phillips was primed for a return to Leeds - maybe initial loan had they come back up. I’m guessing he’ll still end up there so a season at us while we’ve got another season of tight purse strings while Phillips regains his fitness and confidence with us and Man City get him in the shop window then we can all wash our hands of each other at the end of the 24/25 season and we sign Jude Bellingham as we move into Bramley Moore.
What I’m trying to say is that he could be useful for a season as long as we don’t get sucked into something longer term as we’ve seen with Schneiderlin et al and the massive losses for little gain they’ve brought in recent years.

Getting him on-loan with no obligation and us only paying a small percentage of his wage and him getting a full preseason of Dyche fitness/conditioning could work… but… what if he does well? He’ll be 29 by the end of the loan and still have a few years on his contract - that’s a trap we can’t fall into again.

c1982 reacted to StevO in Ashley Young
We need minimal risk and some form of consistency around the squad. I have absolutely no issue with Young getting a one year deal. Players of his experience can be a massive influence on the dressing room too. While we have got another year of uncertainty ahead, I agree with Dyche on keeping him around.
I’ll also throw in; he’s doing a lot of media at the moment and is covering the euros. We need some positivity out there about the club. He just might help that.

c1982 reacted to MikeO in Yankuba Minteh
I can't reveal my sauce, but I'm told he routinely peppers the opposition box with crosses; he's fairly tall for a winger as well, 1.80m (that's 5ft 11in in imperial).

West Ham were stupid to get a player in mid season who needed a precseason to be the player he was for Leeds. Has had issues with shoulder injury.
if he is fully recovered and gets a full pre season and the money is right then it could be a great move.
