I agree @RuffRob about Periera, I mentioned him in one of the other threads a couple of weeks ago. I think he would start most games for us this season.

@Cisk makes a good call with JWP too. I think I remember @pete0 or someone mentioning him a couple of seasons ago and I didnt really see it but he has come on leaps and bounds under Hassenhutl. He has the piece quality and ball striking of Gylfi but he actually runs and tackles.

Can't take credit for that one. Think I said he was the best of the England midfield (although Mount has put in a good case for himself this season).

Iwobi scored 3 and created 7 goals in the season before he joined us, playing 35 games in the league for an Arsenal side that finished 5th and 11 times scoring and creating 2 in a Europa League campaign that ended in the loss in the final. His problems have been since he joined Everton for which he has never got going. I don't think it was a coincidence that his best form came when he was played regularly.

Don't think it's about playing regularly. At Arsenal he was playing faster football, helped by their passing being more crisp and their players getting forward more.

For me the two biggest problems are Richarlison who's runs are shite and doesn't pass the ball enough to link up play, and Sigurdsson who doesn't make forward runs and too often doesn't even make forward passes.

That’s an image for a link - I’d guess defensive and attacking stats are considered when doing the full rating - but I guess the displayed stats fit the narrative of the article.

Unsure how they work it out but looking at his highest rating there seems to be more weight towards attacking than defending. He got 2 assists in a game we also conceded 2 goals.

They are right. I have no idea how it is fair that parachute payments are given, it just increases the likelihood that whoever drops down comes right back up.

Teams who come up will have higher runnings costs than they're used to, especially with players coming in on higher wages and I'd imagine a nice boost for their players that brought them up too. Parachute is a nice safety net to stop the teams coming up and not spending to compete as they'll be scared of the financial burden if they go down.

Without the parachute payments the prem teams would be able to raid the best players from the relegated teams more easily, which would further the gap even more.

Richarlison does a brilliant job of finding space. He is almost always available for the pass and anything we do going forward involves him starting in that pocket and turning.

Everything going forward breaks down at him. That attack started from Keane and Sigurdsson was especially poor all they villa defense done was play him in his left and he had no insisting on trying to cut in on his right. Lost count of how many times he's ruined an attack, should have buried a header too.

Agree with you about Allan. Miles off the pace today.

Didnt every outlet and even the coaching staff said JPG was Gana's direct replacement? Or am I opening Pandoras box with this?

The main thing I recall in the media was from his agent saying he'd be a good centre back.

    Positionally Gbamin was Schneiderlin's replacement.

😂 where did you get this information?

That Champions League final was also Kane’s first game back after being injured in the April.

My betting friends, most media at the time and pretty sure it was discussed on here too, (not got time to search, need to set off in a minute).

Spurs were playing better without him and Moura had just scored a hattrick to put them in the final.

I'm really confused/genuinely fascinated by your apparent disdain for him as a player. Is this one of those situations where someone chooses to dislike the popular thing just to be a contrarian? Believe me, I've been there. I was that guy when Avatar came out.

Harry Kane is, undoubtedly, one of the best strikers in the PL era. He is a clinical finisher, has recently shown that he is adaptable and can also turn provider, and has consistently been scoring goals (usually over 20+ a season in the PL) since the 2014/15 season.

    Am I missing something??

Spurs score just as many when he doesn't play, and if anything look a better team. Kane's goals are more down to his teammates giving him more opportunities than most strikers get. I'm guessing most people don't watch him for a full 90, he broke down more attacks than any Leeds defender the other week. His flaws stand out when he doesn't get on the score sheet. I got similar dislike popular opinion accusations when I said basically the same about Sigurdsson, who just had the best output of any midfielder I can remember (13 goals, 6 assists) people thought I was mad to want rid as beyond getting a goal or assist he didn't contribute enough over the 90. Think most would now agree.

Don't worry Avatar was bollocks (although 3d was pretty cool), popular opinion isn't always right. Just look at who's running the country the last decade.

When they played Liverpool in the champions League final most people waited to see if Kane started before backing Liverpool to win.

Look at his skillset. What does he do better than DCL? The players SteveO named all have something that put them a class above. What does Kane have? Why are his pisspoor performances for England overlooked?

    Please do.

Under Sam he played one scored none.
Under Roy he played 16 and scored 5.
Under Southgate he’s played 36 and scored 29.
    34 goals in 53 caps.

Only Owen, Greaves, Lineker, Charlton and Rooney have scored more. None of them will be getting another cap any time soon. He’ll probably pass Owen before the end of the Euros, maybe pass Greaves before the end of 2021. He needs 20 goals to become England’s top goal scorer of all time. Five per year for the next four years?

Still only 27. Just three years older than Dom.

He’s also seventh on the premier league all time top scorers list. Only Aguero is ahead of him who is still playing. He’s 11 goals behind Henry. There is only Jamie Vardy in the top 20 that is still playing, other than Kane himself.

How many did he get in the tournament? Oh wait he was shite, probably England's worst performer.

You think Kane is as good as any of those names mentioned? He's 27 and still at Spurs...

Meanwhile Juve, Barca, PSG, Chelsea, Inter, Arsenal, Man U, Atletico Madrid have all shelled out for strikers.

I'm really hoping a club one day is stupid enough to buy him. They'll be worse for it.
