Mike, I've only just seen that you've unfortunately had to update this thread. I know there's nothing I can say really. Today is the anniversary of my Dad's death 3 years ago & I thought I was okay but this has really upset me! (Nothing like making it about me, eh?).
As lot's of others have said, and I'm sure you have many people around you in the real world, but if you do need anything I'm not too far away in London, so don't hesitate...

Well didn't expect this. Went as well as was possible apparently. 7.5 hours surgery, zero tongue removed (which should mean normal eating possible in time), no ICU just high dependency and now safely on ward,  being woken more than once an hour for obs, drips but not a problem floating in and out of consciousness. Quite pleasant in fact, must be the drugs😂. Not being able to speak feels a bit odd, I keep forgetting and attempting but nothing comes out, but no pain at all; again maybe the drugs.
Walk in the park so far, I imagine trials to come but so far so good 👍. Bit of internal bleeding earlier only issue so far but quickly sorted.

It was perfect Haf, went exactly as planned down to the last detail. Celebrant was superb, "wake" was joyful. Seems ridiculous to say but the best day I've had in weeks.

I understand the sentiment but flaky supporters buy kits too. If we want to grow into a club that can compete with the biggest fish expanding our fan base is a big part of it. Exposure matters. I only started following Everton 6 years ago myself and that was because I loved Tim Howard. Even if some "supporters" jump ship when a guy like James leaves there will be a percentage that fall in love with the club as I did.

Generally I'm becoming more and more disconnected with the general public.
You have football players like walker and keane bringing prostitutes to their houses to have parties, grealish getting lashed up and crashing his car.... people having bbqs.... people standing 2 ft away from each other to clap the nhs.  Politicians playing blame game....  yesterday I seen 2 lovebirds force a jogger in to the middle of the road cos they need to walk hand in hand next to each other and take up the full pavement.
Meanwhile my wife is making me a face mask so I can go and get shopping in.... does my fucking head in. 20000 people have died in hospitals.... probably the same amount in the community..... and you have twats like Ollie Holt talking about how they should deal with the footy season.
Dumb pricks all over the place.  Our life as we knew it has changed for good and all they can thing of is when can we get back to living the false life of bragging rights.... trophies, new cars, pay rises, clothes shopping.  
It's reaffirmed some thing I already knew, the simple things in life that you take for granted are the most important - starting with family and friends. 
 
 

Steve - Every single person working in the medical profession (home and abroad) and are helping to deal with this have my thanks, pride, admiration for everything they’re doing. From the smallest cog to the biggest cog. They are heroes and are the only ones that deserve those platitudes during all this. I can only speak about the politicians here but I refuse to thank any of ours, the good work of the NHS workers is in spite of the obstacles put in their way by those politicians. So when I see Conservative politicians joining in in that applause for those heroes, it boils my blood. Not long ago they cheered when they voted down increasing their pay. They can fuck off, because it’s those politicians that will be directly responsible for many more deaths than was necessary. I don’t know how they sleep at night and I don’t know how anyone is giving them an ounce of praise.

It's unreasonable for people to be unwell? We don't have health tourist that's just you and the Daily mail trying to justify your racist immigration stance. We have more people attending a and e as they can't get an appointment at their local doctor, reason being we don't have enough GPs. Add to that the rising population on what was an already stretched NHS and its clear to see it's supply that is the problem, not demand. The tories have purposely under funded it and people are dying because of it. 
Note without immigration the figures would be even worse as a fair chunk of our medical staff are from over seas.
