nogs got a reaction from Shukes in Carlo Ancelotti
A) on what are you basing the judgement that Kean is "one of our brightest prospects?" His transfer fee? He's done fuck all since he's come here apart from get disciplined for missing a couple of team meetings, which shows immaturity and a lack of respect for team discipline. if getting hauled off in any circumstances ruins any part of his career he hasn't got the character to be a top level footballer. It has happened to better players than him, e.g. Mata, Matic.

It's amazing what going back to basics in football can do. Two well organised banks of four, two athletic strikers getting about the defenders and players fired up to work hard. We're not pulling up trees in terms of fabulous flowing football but given the injuries we have this is just fantastic

It all depends on what Dunc says behind the scenes. It does seem harsh, and humiliating but we only know what we see...which is very limited...we don't know what gets said in training, dressing rooms, post game etc. It's not an impossible situation for Dunc or Kean. Kean now has a choice...sulk. Or get fired up and say 'Right you fucker, watch this....' and score a goal. Even turn up to training on time might be a good starting point.
As for you Mark, and this blue tinted glasses malarkey - total opposite from what I've read. Fans have been harsh on Ferguson, Inc. me, and not been wanting to give him a chance. What he's getting now is a well earned pat on the back after grinding out 4 points, when we thought we'd get 0, against tough opposition...the last game with only 1 actual CM. He deserves credit for getting Holgate ready having lost his other CM only the night before.
Credit where it's due!

We shouldn't need to be thinking about turning him into a midfielder. But he proved today he is a very talented footballer the way he adapted, didn't look out of place at all.

It is utterly ridiculous the amount of headers he wins.
He's a player I really want to do well. He never puts anything less than 100% in and he comes across as someone that genuinely realises how lucky he is to be playing for Everton and wants to repay the faith shown in him.

Short of giving a clip around the ear I thought he sent out the right message perfectly !

Very good point away from home. Injuries are killing us but the desire is back. Feels like Everton again!

The reason I'm against Ancelotti's appointment is first because he's a nomad. He changes clubs every two seasons and I'm fed up with managerial changes. I wish we find someone who's gonna be successful and will build a platform for future development here, and that's unlikely to be done in couple of seasons. Second, Carlo is a lucky bastard. Yeah, he won plenty, but he only manages teams that are at the top of their game. The only team that somewhat differs from that criteria is Napoli, who just fired him because of bad results. I fear Everton will prove difficult job for him right now.

I think that's the key at any club. Success requires a long term strategy

I wrote Man Utd off this season but I reckon I was wrong. Solksjaer has dumped the egos blooded a load of kids and got them fifth atm. I expect a really difficult game at Old Trafford and reckon they will be right in the running for 4th

Jesus that was some game. Palfy was right in that it was emotional. Would have loved to have been there today.
Today's game just showed that actually football is a simple game. Two banks of 4, intense pressing, stay narrow and get a toe in when you can. Then when we got hold of the ball we got it forward, because we have forwards in DCL and Richarlison that can bully centre backs and Walcott and Iwobi themselves were breaking forward in support. In that first goal we had 3 or 4 in the box.
I don't think any of the starters played particularly badly, the weakest was Iwobi but I wouldn't have said he was dreadful and he did get better as the game went on. Davies came on and bar fluffing the chance that did eventually lead to the goal, he was well off the pace.
Its very difficult to say who was MOTM, I thought DCL put in a huge effort all game, as did Richarlison. The former found a teammate more often than not with his headers as the game went on. He showed why he should be starting in games like these as he will ruffle decent defenders.
Walcott was sharp, just not in front of goal. I thought he did a very good defensive job. He was very sharp in his closing down, he held his position well and he caused them problems with his pace.
I'm not sure which central pairing should get the biggest plaudits because, both Keane and Holgate and Schneiderlin and Sigurdsson were fantastic together. Yes individually they made mistakes but they had each others backs time and time again. Where one would get a shove on the attacker getting them off balance, the other would be making the tackle. When the ball went behind one, the other was in there clearing in behind. It all sounds very simple and it is if you have footballers with a brain who are confident in what their partner is going to do. All 4 players have copped a fair amount of stick recently but they showed what they are about today.
Down the flanks I couldnt really fault anyone either. Digne seemed to improve as the game went on. He was a bit wary of Iwobi to start with but again he trusted him more as the game went on, its just a shame that he has now picked up a niggle. It didn't go unnoticed to me that when Baines came on he made a number of full or part blocks which was exactly what we needed in those final minutes. I think a special mention should go to Sidibe, whilst he was fair from faultless the number of times he got back, covered the runner, made a tackle, got forward and offered an outlet was unreal. He seemed to cover every blade of grass on the right side of the pitch.
Special praise should go to Ferguson. The players came out and were confident. That was a massively patched up side, one that I don't think anyone really fancied to get a point let alone all 3 points and in such a quick turnaround since the derby drumming he has got them organised, got their heads up and playing for each other and the club. It also poses the question a to whether this is what we want to see more of? If so, Dyche must be high on the list of managers. I remain dubious about how well it would work against teams lower down the league who will sit in deep but I can certainly see the appeal of seeing more football like that every week.

Passion and hard work - start there and then worry about the football. Great to see everyone putting in a shift, Goodison sounds unreal!

I saw Dunc getting hammered for the Richarlison sub. Guess it's his day! And DCL's day too, deserves it for the hard work he puts in every game.
