Really good game that and an impressive start. We should have won and we we conceded two flukey goals which were also finished off really nicely.
 
Our goals were very nice, Barkley especially but the move for Coleman's was also top drawer. If we play like that every week we will win a damn site more than we lose.

Been watching YouTube clips of this fellow all morning. Looks good in Life of Pi and Cyrano De Bergerac. Lost some weight since his Obelix days.
 
Cant wait to see what he can do in the prem, ok YT clips are not the best way of seing the bigger picture but he looks awesome in them. As most have pointed out, there is alot of recemblance between him and Ronaldo. Can go either side of the goalie, shot with both feet, pace to burn and can take 2-3 players on. A bit greedy on the ball but its exactly what we need. Someone to hold up play, take a couple on, be a goalscoring threat but also able to set someone else up. Kone or Jelavic are going to get quite a few goals from him.

Who knows? If the relationship goes well we may get to buy fringe players from them when they're being sold, or at least get offered them first. Obviously, not any of their really decent fringe players who'll cost the earth.

For me i'm not expecting anything other than moyes doing whats right for United and basically not paying us any respect we may feel he should throw our way. After all, its a results business and he knows that Baines is the best at what he does and will help him avoid failure at United. Does that mean he should stick a few million on top of what we would expect in a transfer? From a selfish perspective no, and thats exactly where/who he is. I'm ok with that because i'm an Everton fan, not a David Moyes fan.
 
Lets remember he allowed his contract to run out leaving us managerless and without a bean in compensation coming to us. It didn't particularly bother me because I wasn't keen on another 5 years of him, but I would have prefered some honesty. Anyone who thinks for one minute he wasnt aware of any man united interest until just before fergie announced his retirement is deluded. Man uniteds biggest recruitment task over the last 20 years was SAF's replacement and that will have been a mega intensive operation, not just a chat over a bottle of wine.
 
At this very same time when he was being sounded out about managing the biggest team in the Prem, he will have been asked to present on his working model and initial plans for his new role. In that would have been who he intends to keep, sell, and who he wants to sign. From this they will have outlined a budget - the Glazers will have been all over that, and in that would have no doubt been Baines and other targets.
 
If Baines does go to united I will be upset, he's a true Everton player for me and I would like to keep him. With that in mind Moyes should be very wary of upsetting those fans who idolised him for his time at Everton and deal with the situation very carefully. Me? It wont change my feelings towards Moyes. I've appreciated alot of the good he's done at our club but he's had his own agenda just like many people in the game. He got a massive compensation package off our club and continually talked down expectations and talked up the size of the job he had. In short I think he is focussed on number 1, and those who had never thought that will no doubt be feeling bitter very soon.

Gone by Xmas or the end of the season what an absolute joke - we are not Chelsea, Spurs, Man City or QPR, and we have not signed Harry Rednapp, Mark Hughes or Di Canio as the manager. Martinez is not going to rip apart what Moyes has already steadily built, and go wild in the transfer market. Martinez spoke with respect of where the club are and how he want to steadily improve.
 
Although Moyes and Martinez are different in many way regarding there approaches to the game - They have few things in common they are both real grafters and student of the game. They are both really honest and straight talking fella's with strong principles and act with integrity, I think Martinez will build the same type of open and close relationship with the Chairman as Moyes did. I don't see any sort of love hate relationship going on.
 
I am nervously excited about the next regime at Everton - From what I have heard from Martinez so far I really think we have the best man for this particular job (I was in the Pereira camp originally) . Will we kick on?, I don't know, its a very tough ask to consistently rub shoulder with any of the Man U, City, Spur, Chelsea, Arsenal and even Liverpool, they all have vastly superior resources year after year and this is not going to change any time soon.
 
The Everton job is actually a difficult job for any manager in world football - you have very little scope to screw up in the transfer market, you can't buy yourself out of trouble or amass a large squad to cover transfer dealing deficiencies, and us fans expect year on year progress.

How the heck does anyone (let alone us) let a player of his age, quality and reputation go for 1.5 mil?
