Formby reacted to Palfy in James Rodríguez
You are giving great scenarios when we have the ball what’s he do when we don’t have the ball, let me tell you in case you’re in any doubt fuck all the same as last season for 60% of the game, in fact that could increase to 65% or more because we would struggle even more to set up and get it back, let’s drop Doucoure back to suit him ridiculous Doucoure has had the best start to season than most in team with his forward role yet he still gets back to his job in his own half, and you would fuck his game up for a lazy fucker like James, that would be an appalling thing to do and totally destroy the dynamics of the team, what you fail to grasp in your aspirations to get James back in the team is he doesn’t fit he maybe able to ping a ball 40 yards occasionally and thread a ball through now and then, but that doesn’t mean you should be absolved from doing the dirty work in the team, and based on the fact he was guilty of giving the ball away so much you would think he’d put a bit of effort in getting it back. He wouldn’t be in my team that’s for sure unless he changed his attitude to what he does on the pitch and off it, looks like we could be stuck with him for a few more months because of a lack of interest for a supposedly world class player on a free I’ve never known that in my life before something isn’t right.

If we'd won that game, we'd have won the title...sigh.

And so it should be, you don’t have to go to church to be a good Christian or person, and you don’t have to forsake everything in life to be an Evertonian.

Those 'rebels in the desert' have just humbled the US. It's the kind of disparaging terminology that results in military overconfidence and ultimate failure. The British, the Russians never succeeded in holding Afghanistan. There's a lesson there. I am very sure the US, the UK and EU troops, by the end of their tours, would have realised what they were really up against - forbidding terrain, forbidding heat and a determined and resourceful enemy.

Irony is that the CIA actively backed the Mujahideen against the Soviet Union (stictly speaking not Russian) invasion, they were very much seen as the good guys; and the Taliban came from the Mujahideen.

America’s humiliation is more American hubris - The Washington Post
Military and Washington's policymakers reflect on the Afghan collapse - The Washington Post
The Taliban were never defeated militarily. They just melted away into the mountains, biding their time. You were in control, in essence, of what they let you control - nothing. It happened to the British in the 19th century and Russia in the 20th.

Do you mean the UK or Europe? The last time I checked American military spend was greater than all the other countries in the world combined! Our military capability is insignificant compared to yours. Just look at the deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. The British could barely hold Basra or Helmand. Our weapons didn't even work in the desert.

Totally agree. Some 3500 American soldiers, I think. And not a casualty since February 2020. Not sure what America was spending on keeping its soldiers there, but I'm sure it was a drop compared to their annual military spend. The whole thing is an abject failure on Biden's part - and of American foreign policy. Russia and China circling, Pakistan will need to cut deals with Taliban to prevent insurgents crossing the border. American sphere of interest in the region will be zero. Maybe, they don't care now, but they will if the expected rise in jihadists start using Afghanistan as a base again.

Very impressed you have Spurs fielding two teams at the expense of Man Utd - more of that, please!

Don't think Benitez thinks a lot of him, i think he might be on his way, shame really but lack of fight and effort will not do it for Benitez.

I'm very hopeful about Gray - could be a really useful player for us.
I quite like how we're doing business here. Should have been doing this sort of thing when Moshiri first took over, rather than paying over the odds for mediocrity (cue some comment about paying below the odds for mediocrity!).
I think this could be a good window for us.

Always liked Gray - every time I've seen him play, he's been good. No problem getting him or Townsend.
Heaven help other teams' supporters checking out these boards for our views on our own players - would be very ugly, indeed.

These transfers scream "Moneyball" to me, and I say good.
Gray is a talented, relatively young player who can develop and do a job for us.
Townsend has pace which is what we need and is a backup.
With these transfers we are showing "Smarts" which we have lacked in some of our deals in the past.

Totally agree with this - some kind of accountability has been long overdue. Really looking forward to seeing the dummies, in both senses, being spat out.

Formby reacted to Palfy in Euro 2021
The Swiss where absolutely brilliant the best team performance I’ve seen this tournament, I absolutely love it when the underdogs work as a team and beat the favourites, France a team made up of multi million pound players didn’t have the togetherness that a team needs to win.
