Steve_E reacted to Shukes in Muhamed Besic
Loved the tackle but there's no way he will get away with that in the premiership.
His follow through cleaned the guy and he would have been punished for that.
If he can tone it down slightly he will be a monster though.

Steve_E reacted to Bailey in Coleman injury
Martinez may be a qualified physio but I'm pretty sure he didnt sack our medical department when he took over. Martinez (as with any manager) has enough on his plate as it is let alone supposedly analysing every players injuries. He will be getting the info from his medical dept as does every other manager, the only advantage he has, is that he understands what they are saying.

If we're going to need to waste one of our substitutions on a right back in every game when Hibbert starts, why don't we just start Browning to begin with?

Don't forget the immense difference in class between someone like Di Maria on the one hand and Pienaar and McGeady on the other hand.

Can we be fair to Hibbert too.
We all had misgivings about him. But that's 4 games in a row having not played for 2 years. And he hasn't really done much wrong. Ok, he's not as dynamic as Coleman but he has done no harm.
Fair play to him.

Much better in the 2nd half. That was much more like what we expect to see. But it adds to the frustration. We can do it, but we aren't just now.
The first half was just drab.
Thought Oviedo made a big difference when he came on. Gave us an extra option and wasted very little. Be great when he's in full swing.
Osman looked good when he came on too! Fair play to him.
And Browning looked good again. Marching down the right side, putting those crosses on. That's why he came on.
Lukaku needs to step up. I'm not a Lukaku hater, but I am a fan who looks at our main striker and wants more from him. He needs to sharpen up. I'm not bothered about his fee, his age, his touch.. today, right now, the team needs more from him.
Another game down. We need to find ourselves and quickly.

I really hope Stones didn't break his leg/ankle there. That would be too much.

Have to say, we have been so unlucky this second half.
Their second goal was a miss hit shot that fell lucky.
Their keeper has made some great saves.

Shocking for 60-65 minutes and then we started to dominate for the rest of the game which is a positive. We recycled the ball far better, actually put some effort into winning the 2nd ball (Hibbert, Stones, McGeady and Barry especially) and got into some great positions without making the most of it until the goal.
Stones was an absolute monster. The number of great challenges, his desire to add some pace to our attack and the amount of times he covered Jags and Hibberts arse was incredible. He would have even cleared up after Jags for the goal if the latter didn't interfere with that touch.
Bringing on Lukaku at half time was a good move because he did very well whilst he was on the pitch. Eto'o will get the plaudits for the goal but look how Lukaku drags 2 defenders with him for the goal to create the space. Osman's influence in the last 30 mins shouldn't be underestimated either.
I don't know why we didn't make any more subs but in fairness the players I was slagging off actually pulled their finger out. I'm guessing we will see Besic start at the weekend!

It tells you a lot when Tony Hibbert has been one of your best players.
I'm embarrassed.

We're a team that likes the wing play, yet both of our wingers can't control a ball, pass the ball, beat the man 1/3 of the time, can't win arial balls and have inconsistent control.
Add to that, Osman has given the ball to the opposition more than our own players and you can see the issues we have in attack.
Eto'o has NOTHING around him in terms of supply. No wonder our strikers aren't scoring many.
Hiberrt, as expected, is being left in the smoke. Stones is covering every time.
Gibson's passing is very wayward. Worrying.
Stones is brilliant. Jags, Baines, Howard, Barry and Eto'o, the only ones who come out with slight positivity.
