It's important to realise the difference between fans.

If there was a supporting hierarchy, it would read something like this:

At the top of the supporting tree, you have the lads who travel home, away, and abroad to follow their team.

Next, the lads who get to home matches etc.

Somewhere in the middle, you get the lads who follow from their armchair, pc, radio, tv, or newspaper etc.

At the very bottom, a few miles deeper than the darkest cesspit of hell, you get the weird folk who tell you they support which ever team happens to be the best at the time, even if they can't tell you anything about the club, or, where the club actually plays.

Under the rocks at the end of those folks gardens, you will find the Liverpool fans.

Alex Smithies at Huddersfield has always been rated very highly as a good young goalkeeper, and i think it's been mentioned, but im not against a move for Ruddy.

Alvarado the Alkmaar keeper is good, but he would cost a small fortune i reckon.

This is quite something (if true).

    FACTS :
    1. Mike Dean, referee, when Blackburn beat Manchester United 3-2 and hasn't refereed a Manchester United game since.
    2. Mike Dean - referee, in 2010, after Manchester United's defeat to Chelsea, was demoted to the Championship.
    3. Alan Wiley, called "fat and unfit" by Alex after Manchester United's draw with Sunderland," agreed to retire" that season.
    4. Mark Clattenburg refereed Manchester United's 6-1 defeat to Manchester City, hasn't refereed a single Manchester United game after that Manchester derby. (hasacted as 4th official in 3)
    5. Martin Atkinson -Involved in Manchester United's defeat to Chelsea, criticized by Alex, hasn't refereed Manchester United game since.
    6. Ex referee Jeff Winter openly stating that he hadn't been given a Manchester United game for 2 years after sending Roy Keane off.
    7. Howard Webb has been Manchester United's most used referee since the defeat to Manchester City.
    8. More than 18% of the penalties Webb has awarded in his 8 year career have been to Manchester United.
    9. Manchester United's CEO is on the board of The FA.
    10. Alex Ferguson not happy with Chris Foy, Foy referees a League Two game. something he hasn't done since the 2001-02 season...

With that XI I'd rather see Neville at right back, Coleman right mid and Felli dropped back to defensive mid....Jellytot up front with Mirallas supporting.

panic averted. Having more or less given up on the bike, I decided this morning to leave a note asking someone to return it if they had borrowed it. Some friendly neighbour had moved it to a secret bike store Id never seen last night. So, bike is safe and sound!

The problem is he never seems to be able to contribute like that for a whole game and certainly not two in a row. To me he sticks out like a sore thumb... When Pienaar, Fellaini, Osman, Baines, Mirallas were all interlinking and playing flowing football, he was the one standing there, offering little movement and not really contributing. He didnt drag defenders anywhere and for the most part they had his card marked. However, it does go to show that when he does make a half decent run he can make a difference. The run, the turn and the shot of his goal yesterday were top drawer, unfortunately we simply dont see it enough.

To sum it up and I dont mean to sound harsh on the lad, but he just isnt a clever footballer. He closes down, but he doesnt close down angles. He makes runs, but he doesnt find space. He doesnt use his size and strength as he should do and that in a nutshell is why he is only good enough for a bench role. Jelavic does also mess up his first touch under pressure (not when shooting! lol), but despite not being physically gifted, he uses what he has to much greater effect than Vic. He make clever runs, he finds good angles, he reads the game. Generally speaking Vic doesnt. I do admit that he seems to be getting better and if he was 18-19 bursting onto the scene then I would be excited by him, but unfortunately he isnt.

I feel harsh writing that as I used to think the world of Vic (& JV) but he does get some unfair criticism. However he has had his chances and he isnt young anymore. He makes the same mistakes he did 5 years ago when he was starting out as a raw talent.

Anybody see Gerrard getting sent off.... Shambles. He tries a hollywood pass and it doesnt come off as usual so he tries a to get the ball back with a wreckless tackle through the back of a ukrainian player. Just reaffirms to me what we have all said before about him and also that peice in the gurdian/times. He isnt in the same league as some of the midfeild masters like Pirlo,Zidane,Figo etc.

Know a few saints fans with living down here, and they all rate Lallana very highly, and he's very versatile but the other 2 are a joke, Sterling is 17 and there must be a few U21 ahead of him surely, and Livermore has started a few games for Spurs under AVB. I feel sorry for the likes of Osman, also that Dyer that plays for Swansea surely deserves a call up ahead of Livermore, i think Hodgson's reign is already showing the early signs of being exactly as predictable as Eriksson and Cappello, just look at the other night, back to the Gerrard/Lampard nonsense.

England will always be the same until the structure and culture of the FA changes imo
