He either signs the contract or he goes, personally I couldn't give a shit if he goes, he's not as good as some people seem to think he is.
 
I'd take £100m for him and Lukaku and with our own transfer kitty that we already have we should be able to buy 4 or 5 top class players.

I'm not saying either are good enough, but Joel is better than Stek for me.
 
Everything that Stek does worries me - he comes for balls he shouldn't come for and fails to come for balls he definitely should be dealing with, he's slow as shit off his line, he flaps at too much, doesn't communicate.
 
I'd even argue he's not a great shot stopper like you suggest. I remember when we played Southampton last season and he was in during Forsters injury lay-off and all I could think was "I hope we shoot from everywhere because this fella is shite". Today he should've held on to a shot and instead pushed it out into the middle of our penalty area!
 
Joel may not be the answer but Stek is truly abysmal.

This is my problem with the idea of "rounded" players. It means they don't do anything exceptional, and so will struggle to deliver excellence.
 
I prefer to have a collection of players who are exceptional experts in their fields, and play to their strengths. If you do this, then you excel and that's how you win things

Why do papers print such crap? He's under contract for another two years, I know keeping him if he wants to leave is probably unwise but the fact of the matter is that the decision on whether he goes will be 100% Everton's, it's not his decision to make.

I actually don't think he is good enough, other than that small part of one season under Martinez in which he looked like he had a bit about him, he has never done anything since then in any of the following seasons to suggest he is this great english midfield hope everyone keeps going on about.

I never suggested Howe could do a job at Everton, but at the same time i never wanted Koeman in the first place

The point isn't the details though.
It's about the attitude of the club. We should be looking at answers for our young players not quick fixes. If it takes bringing someone in to mentor these players then that's what we should be doing.

Maybe Ronaldo but i get your point.
 
The question isnt his technical ability though its his mental strength and footballing brain. Again i hope he comes good but i have my doubts. Im hoping 3 or 4 quality additions around him will help him.

Calvert-Lewin is in the squad... if ever we needed a young striker to come on the scene in the way we saw with the likes of Rooney, Fowler etc then now is the time.
 
To be honest a few young lads may actually come in and show the rest of them what it is we are missing... a bit of desire.

Pre-season we where linked with Kalidou Koulibaly, Virgil van Dyke, and even Kone from Sunderland. Who did he bring in ? A 32 year old Ashley Williams.
Then it was Yacine Brahimi, Manolo Gabbiadini, and Julian Draxler, who did we get ? Bolassie.
 
Joe Hart was available, who did we bring in ? Well you know who.
 
None of those players are any better than we already had. This manager is seriously flawed, and we will have a massive problem getting any top players to come to us.

To say the jury is still out on him is perfectly understandable, just don't get the shouts to kick him out after 5 minutes in the job
