I've called for him to be replaced in the past but there's no doubt that having proper competition has made him up his game massively. He's been outstanding this season and given us a platform to win games.

I think he did a little bit more than just save us from relegation, the majority of the squad now were all Moyes players. There cant be many managers who have ever walked into a job were the foundations were already in place and they took over such a healthy squad
 
Martinez must have been rubbing his hands with glee, he took over a squad full of quality players were the morale and togetherness was renowned throughout the country
 
Martinez is a breath of fresh air and he looks like he is going to take us on to another level but it doesnt mean you should just erase all the good work Moyes did and he doesnt deserve pure hatred from all corners
 
I dont get were you are going with Joe Royle either. I think the vast majority of Evertonians appreciate the good job Royle did and think he probably left too soon. Had Kenwright been in the chair instead of Johnson he probably would have stayed a lot longer and I dont think that would have been a bad thing

I would just go for prospects for the future: Ryan Gauld and John Souttar or whatever prospects we have scouted across Europe. Even if we sell Baines, I wouldn't go after a high-profile player. You'd pay premium because it's january and because everyone remembers you just cashed in big.
 
Then in the summer we can assess the squad when we know which academy players are ready for a step up and what loans could be extended etc.

ok... I hadnt really taken sides as there are both valid points, but I just thought of something...
 
Theres one argument here thats irritiating me. If youre not good enough to win the Cup, you dont deserve the place. But, if you dont finish high enough in the league to qualify by the allocated positions, you deserve the extra position from the runner up of a cup? Bullshit. If you werent good enough to succeed in either competition, you've no right to progress, definitely less right than that of the team who made it to a final.
 
Taking Romeys example of Millwall qualifying ahead of Villa (if the proposed rules had been implemented). So... a lower club, who (regardless of opposition) got to the final of the Cup and had a brief foray into Europe, whilst Villa couldnt get that far in the Cup nor finish high enough to earn a place, didnt. But because Villa finished higher, though not high enough, in the league (a completely different competition), they deserved the European place designated for the Cup? Im sorry, but the argument is just hypocritical.
 
The idea of giving the position to already rich clubs will just create a bigger void. Why shouldnt the likes of Bradford, Birmingham, Wigan, etc have their time in Europe if theyve earned it, more than everyone else in the competition except the team that beat them in the final? Not trying to be disrespectful to them, but what else have they got to look forward to?! It can give them some additional funds (if they progress) but most importantly, it will give their fans a moment of excitement. For the fixture congestion, thats up to the club to chose how they want to prioritize matches.

not sure what he couldve done They offered him triple his salary and the club made the agreement to sell. Yeah, he couldve rejected the move but Im sure the lure of competing for the title on massive wages was enough to settle any doubts he had

Don't get me wrong I would love us to be able to play teams off the park and win 5-0 every week but never in the world would I get no satisfaction from winning
 
Remember Bolton away in the Cup last season, we were absolutely awful that day then Hietinga popped up with a last minute winner, try telling any one of the travelling Everton fans that day that there is no satisfaction in a smash and grab win
