Funny how some threads degenerate into said argument or disputes, or go wildly off topic from the intended subject matter, and I don't always have a goddamn thing to do with them.

Point being, the highlighted area was only to show that most, if not all, computer forums, or group discussions wherever you find them, have scope for argument eventually. People won't sit there nodding heads, muted in argreement - sooner or later there will be a level of diatribe aimed at either someone, or a group of individuals, and here is no different. We've mostly been guilty of it at some stage or another, myself included, and rightly or wrongly, stand by those actions.

All sorts itself out in due course anyway. All storms in a teacup on the TT pages, as always.

Bit much accusing any participants of being Liverpool fanatics on these pages. Knock it off.

I said Shankly was a great manager - assembled the club into world beaters - which he was, and they were - so by that measure, should others qualify for the same treatment ?

You can always say money as in the much needed cash injection, but we achieved champions league soccer in 2004-05 by simply having a team that was no better than what we have now, but players actually pulled off a number of shock results and things went our way often enough, but bear in mind the two main North London sides put twelve goals past us in both away fixtures that season. Point being, I think it's a little of a number of factors that many have already alluded to.

#1 Match officials being fair and impartial

#2 Remaining injury free and key players involved on regular basis

#3 Injection of money, possible takeover

#4 Consistency - Not playing well for 45 minutes a game, showing enough heart and desire over a full ninety minutes and see the rewards

#5 Team camaraderie. A bonding, or togetherness of playing individuals

#6 The belief to succeed. Having Martinez instead of Moyes is one aspect of this that will hopefully work in our favor (eventually)

#7 Team fitness. Work on the practice field. Perhaps even innovate something for upcoming games and oppositions.

All said and done, You don't need big name players and cash crazy money to make the champions league - we showed it can be done before - but you take a little of all the above elements, and eventually, you can actually see some end product.

Torres is one of those heterosexual types than can appear a little ambiguous with their business. Am always skeptical about grown men or professional soccer players having the need to wear hair bands, stud earrings and other questionable accessories when playing the game - Beckham would be a prime example (let's not mention the need to dress up in women's clothes), but what they do is their business. Not doing themselves any favors, but will fall short at making proper judgments.

You miss the days where the names of Tommy Smith, Dave MacKay, Billy Whitehurst etc, would just go out and play a mans game and get involved and risk a limb, not afraid to take a kick where it hurts, whereas today it appears there are a growing number of (how do I put this), "soft" types who scream for the first-aid kit at the slightest challenge or a grazed elbow. Soccer is no longer a 'mans' game, unfortunately.

Paddy and Murphy are both at home when Paddy says to Murphy - 'do me a favor and run upstairs and fetch my slippers'

'No bother' says Murphy, and goes upstairs, to find Paddy's two stunning 18 year old daughters sitting on the bed.

'Hello here girls' says Murphy, 'your da' sent me up here to fuck you both.'

'Fuck off you liar !' say the twins together

'I'll prove it' Murphy says. So he shouts downstairs - "Both of them paddy ?"

'Of course' Paddy shouts back, 'What's the use of fucking one ?'

    .........................................

Paddy and Mick went to London to donate sperm. It was a disaster.

Paddy missed the Tube and Mick came on the bus.

    .........................................

Murphy and Mick are in a graveyard reading headstones.

Mick says 'Fuck me, there's a guy here who lived to be 151 years old'

'What's his name ?' says Murphy

    'Miles from London' replied Mick

Had a look at the above link incidentally, and for all the fancy scribbles and ideas, just couldn't settle on any one design. Some of them are quite atrocious in actual fact. It's almost as if they gave a class of bored ten year olds some crayons and 'see what you can come up with in fifteen minutes'

This debate will run and run until there is some kind of finalization, or someone can agree on a finished article, but thinking right now, why did they have to tamper with the fucking thing in the first place ? If it isn't broke, don't fix it, etc. Some of the most recent presentations have been borderline ludicrous.

If Moyes had still been manager, he would have sown the defense up tighter than Susie Dent's vagina and the Tyneside outfit wouldn't of got anywhere near our goal in the second half. If we had been leading by 1 - 0 at half time, I would have expected Moyes to completely shut it down, but on the basis of the first half alone, there is reason for optimism in the coming weeks. Going to be fun with Martinez though, as he's a lot less restrictive than the manager before. Second period once again was disappointing, but on the basis of the first half alone, we deserve the points this night.

Read the first half report of the game and can't have no complaints.

Lost the prediction of a 3 - 0 home win but can let it go. Game seems safe now and Lukaku looks in good form. Got the game on now, and Newcastle just missed a chance. Can't see them getting back now. Good to participate in the second half.

What was the final score in that game. WBA ahead from a last look. Wait a minute, official site confirms it as an away win, that is good enough.

I'm afraid its one less trophy to win now for this season, and don't get me wrong, I'm about as disappointed tonight as the next individual, as I thought we could go far in this, but have to remain optimistic about the FA cup when Martinez will be more familiar to us and the players and hopefully He can win back to back FA Cup successes. If we can do that in May, I will look back on tonight and not be giving two fucks about the League Cup.

Saw he put out a strong-ish side although Howard was left out of goal tonight in favor of Robles and Mirallas was brought on a little too late to make a difference but still would have thought we would have had enough to get a result today. Wasn't expecting great things in his first season here but there will always be reaction after a significant defeat.

The final whistle has gone and we've been eliminated, what a load of old cunt.

Fulham curse strikes again, one opposition side that's really starting to irritate now.

Another year, another League Cup exit, and I just about give up winning this goddamn tournament sometimes.

Disappointed, angry, frustrated, it's all those things right now, but not alone in feelings on these pages.

Still got the FA Cup to go for I guess. But tonight is frustrating.

You know damn well what was being said. As in, finishing in a european berth, doesn't get you a trophy for that season. Moyes did well, very well, in actual fact, with the often fine finishes and entry into europe here and there in his time here, but it still didn't constitute an actual trophy won at end of seasons. I for one, would have been content with a 17th place finish in just one of those years, if it meant either the League Cup, or FA Cup, on display to show for it. Some are real eager to see this club win something again after so many years away.

It should be properly dark by that time, so good enough. But expected to finish around 10 pm with the advent of extra time and subsequent penalties that I envisage. Could be a late journey back for those on return to Liverpool but well worth the effort should we get the win and entrance to the later rounds. I do want to see this club win this trophy after no success since it's inception in 1960, but feel sometimes may never get to see that day. Hopefully Martinez can carry on where he left off at Wigan Athletic and put this club back on the trophy list, but expecting nothing less than a tough game tomorrow. The venue still remains a cause of concern, despite recent efforts.

Who cares really. We got (what was it) twenty-seven million pounds for the player eventually - a nice twelve million extra on the original price paid - and I think as with Rooney (when he left) he's not going to be that missed sooner or later.

It's been a good weekend though. Liverpool West Ham and Manchester United all suffer defeats. If the fucking plastics had lost also, it would have made it a complete success, but you can't have everything go your way.

I was working this afternoon in actual fact, had to make do with match highlights on the awful BBC, but it gave a comprehensive enough watch to garner enough opinion about todays game fixture.

Wish I could have been involved on these pages for it as it was a standout and action game but maybe next time.

Dalziel Kane got a reaction from Droobie in Howard's beard?
Those two words alone could have been befitting for the actual thread piece, but as it's another topic of conversation to indulge in,may as well add that I haven't had an opportunity to see Howard's new facial additions, but as a regular grower of beards, I think it's good enough what the player decides to do . Believe I've seen before, the player with substantial facial growth, as was Bruce Grobbelaar every now and again, and I think sometimes it can make an improvement to the overall appearance. If a player feels comfortable with it, then see no reason why they can't go ahead with it.

Appears there has been a lot of frenzy about this on the web but I feel all rather indifferent to it. It's only a temporary thing you can imagine, as Howard will soon go back to before and people can get on with their lives once again.

He must have been making a noose out of an angry rattlesnake at half time in the last day Wimbledon game.

It's true that Moyes deserves castigation for the inability to win away at the venues we are all aware of, or even his irritating defensive policies, but for the last time, in the bigger picture, we thank him for making the club recognized again and doing an outstanding job for the most part in the league at least, with little to work with or lack of money at his disposal.

Sometimes a great manager, sometimes a frustrating manager, sometimes a bemusing manager, sometimes worthy of plaudits, sometimes worthy of outright condemnation. It was all those things, but at least now, he has taken it with him to another club.
