Over-weight or not he's passed his medical so he's clearly still fit enough to play as a footballer.

I was reading around the forum as a guest but simply had to log in when I read this. Throughout the years I've been a member on this forum we've had our ups and downs Mike but I've always seen you as a really decent bloke. Bringing in so many players was asking for trouble but I feel that with time AVB would have had them playing football well as a team not just individuals. Personally I'd give him a season with the 'Post-Bale Spurs' and see where they ended up. Sacking him at this stage is just silly.

Losing Johnny will upset me, I think the guy is a legend. It's the right thing to do though for the reasons posted above by Matt - as Hafnia said I'd try to bump up the transfer fee by claiming that he's going to sign a new contract.
