  1. Like Haf said above, we’ve missed four more big  chances than bloody Liverpool. And look where they are.

Bit F it!!!! We’re gonna smash it today.

Im going for Gana first goal and two assists. His goal will be a 30 yard screamer. His assists will be deft little through balls through the middle. Watch this space.

  2. Had to drop Gana as him and Garner can’t play in the centre together. Proved time and again, only a blind man or the terrible twosome couldn’t see that 😉

Im nervously optimistic. I look at it and think, this should work. But then realise it’s doesn’t mean anything if we can’t score goals.

Just been talking to a few other fans at my kids football. They just laughed and said we need to just simply get a journeyman striker on that can score goals as we’re creating enough chances to score goals. We’re just missing to many chances, and you can’t win matches like that.

At home to Bournemouth, I would be pretty happy to see us play with only 1 CDM & have 2 attacking midfielders for this one.

                           Pickford

    Patto      Tarks       Branthwaite      Myko

                            Onana

             Garner                     Doucs

    Harrison                                          McNeil

                              DCL

I would like to see that.

I'll be in hospital again tomorrow so I'll give it a proper read then. But... "A man who has injected  £770 million into Everton, " I struggle with that. Moshiri has a net worth £1.8b, does anyone think hes put nearly half of that into the club after a lifetime of earning it?

This is why I struggle with a lot of what we read. So much of it just doesn’t add up.

  5. I quite like the new stadium location myself.
I know Moshiri has made bucket loads of bad decisions. But I would not class the stadium as one of them. If anything it’s a shining light in an otherwise dire situation.

Have to admit I didn’t read much past that as it set its stall out from the outset. Kind mid made me lose respect for the authors straight away.

May have been a great informative article if I continued, but very poor way to start haha.

He was the best player against Villa playing in the central role, and we rested McNeil, Gana, Doucoure, and Young who all started yesterday. Maybe the answer is find a manager who picks his best starting 11 on regular basis and we might start seeing the consistency he keeps banging on about.

He was against Villa mate. But by anyone’s standards that was a poor Villa team. And we shocked everyone with that performance.
But he played centrally against Doncaster and was shocking and he played centrally against Luton second half and was equally shocking mate.
One league cup shock isn’t enough for me. Needs to be where it counts, and that’s in the premier league fighting for survival.

He needs someone like Gana alongside him to help him for me.

I can see where the terrible two are going with all the posts at the min haha.
I think you guys think people are against Garner for some reason. That’s not the case. I rate him highly as a player, but in my opinion I don’t think he is ready to play centrally in that link up position. We’ve tried it several times and it has ended up badly for 90% of the time.
Yet when he plays with a bit of width, he plays better and the team is more successful.

Look, I’m just going to agree to disagree with the two of you for now. Don't want a discussion to turn into an argument and I feel it’s edging that way mate.

Me and you can just face it we’ll disagree on each others names if we can just to have a spar haha 😂

Gonna save it for the next one 🙂

Are you seriously telling me that villas team that they put out vs us is weaker than Luton?!  We were playing arguably the weakest team to play in the prem and we set up like an away side.

    Eh??? What????

Mate I think you’re just looking for an argument now. I’ll leave it there.

  8. Garners not a player that we can put in the middle without Gana to do the other work Palfy. It’s plain to see whenever we try it.

I agree we should be playing with wingers. But Garner needs to have width. His skill set doesn’t lend to being the link up player. We saw it yesterday. Just a big massive hole in the middle as Onana really wants to just sit back for some reason.

I agree that he may work better with Doucoure in there. As Duke could be the link up man, but then we lose his box to box ability. Maybe if Doucs sat back and allowed Garner to push forward more?
I don't know the answer, don’t even know if there is one with the players we have.

I think unfortunately we don’t have the players to allow Garner to sit there and spray passes.

The set up of the team completely contrasted the set up in the week to Villa. He went from a conservative set up with 3 in midfield with no width, to 2 in midfield with no width and then bought the width on late on.

it had absolutely no structure to it. The midfield ain’t gonna have options without genuine width.  It was absolute shite and stunk of someone who is clueless

He couldn’t set up the same as he did against Villa mate. This is the premier league. They rested their four best players.

The midfield controlled the match for 45 minutes. Let’s not make the mistake of thinking they played through us and scored goals. They didn't at all…. They hardly had the ball in the middle.

They scored off set pieces because we were shockingly bad at the back in dealing with crosses. We should have been four up first half.

Second half I agree with you totally. Their midfield took control and stopped us having the ball in there at all. It forced us to lump the ball. It was the worst half time team talk I have ever witnessed. I’ve never saw a team change so much so badly in a simple 15 minute break.

Should have been so simple. Keep that momentum up that we ended the half with. Someone take charge at the back for set pieces. Now go out and play. Can’t understand how it went so badly.

It’s almost like they were told to protect the -1 goal cushion. Totally nullified us.

I have issues with some areas of his game  but if you take him out of that midfield you lose that "buzz" he brings.

Even when he was playing poorly against Brentford, I felt that energy was still needed.

I thought Onana & Garner could fill that void yesterday but they couldn't. Onana should be able to fill that void but he doesn't apply himself. When Gana came out, it stopped Garner and Onana getting into advanced positions, which created our goal in the first half.

As a result it made Doucoure and McNeil much easier to mark and we had nothing through the middle at all.

I’m really disappointed in Onana. He should be the player that naturally takes his position. But when he gets the chance he seems to shrink back into himself. He hasn’t got that instinct to just link up yet. Hoping that will come.

Garner needs width. Not saying as a winger, but not smack bang in the middle. We’ve tried it a few times and it’s ended disastrously most times. He hasn’t got that skill set.  To the side of a middle three maybe.
But so far his best games have come when he plays wide.

  11. 2 hours ago, Hafnia said:

Didn’t struggle with the ball, we just bypassed them.  If he wanted to go direct then leave doucoure and gana on, put Beto on and put genuine wide players on. Could take Onana and garner off.

but no, he put his ball players in the middle and went long. Just odd.

should have taken young off after 30 minutes, absolutely finished.

We did mate. The amount of times we had the ball deep with Onana and there was no one in front of him. We stopped being available for those little give and goes. Start of the second half, Onana gets the ball and looks forward…. There’s no one there.
So then we had to rely on sending it long.
When we did have it in the middle it just went straight back to Tarks and all he could do was send it long.

Youve got to be brave to play central mid. You have to be want to come and receive the ball. Onana and Garner aren’t those players.
I’m a massive fan of Onana’s, but I agree with what Romey says. He is frustrating because he looks like he has the ability, but seems to hide away a lot. This could be because he is still young maybe.

We’re still desperately in need of that solid central player. Onana might step into that roll if he can start becoming a bit braver. If not then we need to start looking now for a replacement for Gana. Gana will be gone next year surely, and at the minute we don’t look like we have anyone to replace him.

Garner is an excellent player, but he can’t play that role without having someone to do the dirty work for him, or to do the simple link ups.

So far we’ve watched three matches with those two in the middle, and so far it’s only worked against an experimental Villa side in the league cup. It’s been terrible the rest of the time.

It could work if we maybe brought Duke back into central mid and let Garner be the free roam?

I don’t know the answer, but I’m certain Dyche is looking at his decisions and thinking…. Well that fucked up didn’t it. If he isn’t…. He should be.

  12. 28 minutes ago, Hafnia said:

He went 442 and bypassed the midfield, Tarkowski and Pickford just lacing balls up to their centre halves.

if we started the game 442 and played without desperation and mindless ball lumping, we would have won that game.

Dyche is just fooking about. Why does he need a conflab with woan and stone?  We had no width, Ashley young as a full back when Patterson is fit.

it’s beyond me how unaware he is to what most average fans can see.

We did start the game like that. We played through the middle with short balls. Didn’t need to change anything. All the fans in the stadium could see it clearly.
But in the second half he decided to go with two relatively inexperienced central mids and they both had terrible half’s. They struggled with the ball.

    Was a terrible decision.

The villa game was false. Not for us - a win is a win. But you can't/shouldn't judge villa on that. They rested the most influential players int heir team. Not saying we should expect them to batter Brighton but they're not shite.

100% if we would have played that same team against their strongest in the league, we would have been murdered.
unfortunately the Villa game is going to used as a marker for some for a while now.

What you can see is that the manager bowed to opinion and that’s his failure. People have been calling for that second half line up for a while…. And it failed spectacularly.

The fans say they’re at half time saying we will score second half without a doubt, all we need to do is keep going. Ten minutes into the second half the mood had changed as we realised we had no middle, and it turned into that feeling that we could play for two hours and still wouldn’t score a other.

Bit the manager has to stand up now and realise a tweak to tactics is ok, but totally switching tactics at half time is a huge mistake. Not asking for the sack or anything as I tho k he needs a lot more time.
But a bit of accepted responsibility is needed for me after that.

My worry is now, that fans like Palfy and Haf are right and he won’t be able to change. Maybe they saw early on a flaw in him and got it right.

I thought he was fine sweeping up and harrying, but as soon as he got near the final third it's like he's landed on Mars or something.

The ball dropped to him on the edge of the area in the first half and I could see what was going to happen. The oaf was going to shoot. All I could do was watch and shout "not you!" as he proceeded to have a pop and the ball went nowhere near the goal.

Haha even I was shouting the same.
Let him do what he does on the pitch, but instruct him to pass instead of shoot ffs.

But at least people can see what happens when he’s not there now. Midfield were dire once he went off.
If we’re going to play Garner in the middle, make it the right side of a two. He is shit when playing as a central figure.

Heaven help us if Dom gets injured again.
don’t get me wrong they were all bad in second half.
    that defeat is on Dyche

I agree mate. Dom had a decent game.
But the way he changed it at half time is unforgivable. Absolutely nullified us.
