Ah ah ah...no no no...give you Mccarthy. Not Lukaku. He was on his way to WBA, no doubt. I even remember my step sons Dad phoning late at night getting all excited (WBA fans)...then suddenly...he's coming our way.

I agree with you. But that's not me.

I thought about it...Stones is capable. Alcaraz struggles to stay fit. So with the extra games in Europe, I don't think we have enough at CB. We need one more reliable solid player. Doesn't need to be a world beater, but reliable is a must.

I would like him...but not at the expense of a centre back.

Just to say, the crowd sounded awesome today. Seemed to be a great atmosphere.

    Gutted. Absolutely gutted.

I'm not going to use the powers of hindsight to say this should have happened or that should have happened. So and so should have done x, y but not z. It's false.

The only thing I will say is that I thought the team tired alarmingly. I believe firmly that we need more match fitness. More real pace Premiership stamina. I always say that pre season results don't concern me. But I do remember feeling, after reading some reports from you boys in pre season, a bit concerned that we weren't looking sharp enough. We need need to get up to pace.

No doubt we've all played footy or another stamina based sport. You know it's easy when your fit and fresh. Every pass is easy. Then you tire, and the mental side of it goes downhill quicker than anything. Slow to follow your man, every stroke of the ball is labored, every tackle too late. That's just how we looked later on today.

The plus side is that it's another 90 minutes of tempo football played. It's a fair point gained (doesn't feel that way!) and when we were fresh, we were the dogs bollocks. Onwards and upwards.

(End note...its early days but I'll be keeping an eye on Jags n Distin. Time to start bleeding the next gen in more???)

When did I actually mention you???? I mentioned 'knowledgable and level headed'.
And the season I'm talking about is last season.

Sorry, I'm scrapping my campaign for this one.

Any coin left needs to go on a CB, a goodun to help cover.

Howard lucky not to see red.

Mirallas should have played it wide instead of shooting.

See. That possibility makes me smile. Before we complain about not enough choice...now we wonder 'where would he fit'!!!

Love him to be here for the right wages. And I have no doubt that we will only offer what we can afford. Some make out its lunacy to pay him 100k per week...well its lunacy to get angry about something you don't factually know. You nutters.

This mercenary stuff is bollocks too.

Be a good experienced presence in our squad. Lukaku will learn loads from him. His honors list is huge. Goal scoring record at the highest level impressive. And he'll sell shirts.

By the way...go back through the threads to years gone by. Or search your memory.

In the previous era, I remember I always told my mates and anyone that would listen that the most annoying thing about the then Everton way was that you could guarantee that if we were winning after 70 odd minutes, we'd start sitting deeper and deeper and clinging on. A hell of a lot of times it just did not work. It's worth remembering.

Well, I said all along he'd be welcome here at the right price. I thought 15mill was the right price, upto 20 mill even. As did most I think.

When I first heard tonight that he was coming for 24 mill, I thought 'ok, fair enough' and felt quite excited actually.

28 mill was a bit of a shock at first bit I guess it reflects the modern market. When you look at prices for Shaw, Lallana, Luiz etc. I guess it's right.

Now I hope he can feel settled, feel at home. Not have to worry about being loaned out to a new club, new area etc. I really hope, and believe, this will unleash a better player. He comes across real well. Glad he is here now (but what we going to talk about now?!)

As for Chelsea...what a way to make money! Buy a prospect for 18 mill. Loam him out, get some loan fee's...then sell on for a big profit! Mercenaries!!!
