It's finally hot cider season again! Love playing around with adding different things to infuse into the cider while it heats on the stove. Started doing this a couple years ago with my ex and now it's one of my favorite fall/winter activities.

First batch today is with orange, cinnamon stick, star anise and fresh ginger 😋

Never heard of hot cider do you drink it hot or is it just hot because of how you make it, and what makes it a cider in the true sense of a cider.

Matt's got it spot on. Bought some more today with a few more different ingredients to infuse it with. Cardamom pods, cloves, chai tea. Very excited to see how it turns out

Now that I am retired (slightly earlier than planned due initially Covid-19 redundancy, then being diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis) I am spending quite a lot more time in the kitchen. Latest offering to put before my wife and daughter was slow roast leg of NZ lamb, dauphinoise potatoes, sugar glazed carrots, peas and gravy.

Cooked way too much though so it's lamb salads all this week.

Speaking of good meats, these were one of my first employers and all round good folk as well as food.

Thanks for posting this Matt, always good to get reliable reviews when it comes to food. I struggle to get Mutton where I am, and a slow cooked shoulder or neck makes the best curry’s the stronger flavour isn’t lost by the spices.

Good week for Master Chef, the Chinese fella looks like the show winner at the moment imo, I would love to try his food, John, Greg, J, and all the past winners were blown away with his food. I’m salivating just thinking of what it would taste like 👍

Definitely a contender, no question. He's from Singapore rather than China I think.

Singapore. I have a problem with the emotion influencing the result but don't deny his cooking is off the scale. I like the guy from the first week, half Greek I think.

Think, though the Singapore guy was good, that the standard was much higher in the first two groups than the last two; one more batch to come.

Weather permitting tomorrow, we'll be using the wood-fired pizza oven for the first time this year.

Made pizza last night for the first time in ages, but with the oven and pizza stone. I'll see if Mike can add the photos

Binned tonight.

Personally I'm thinking it'll be one of the remaining women who wins; the young anglo/Indian girl hasn't put a foot wrong, and the Scottish lass Sarah I have a serious crush on, so don't want her gone😂

And four of the final six are women as well, that must be a first.

I know mate he had a shocker and in fairness he scraped through last week, I’m not going to his restaurant now, I’m going with you to the the young Indian girls, love a good curry. Sarah does look sophisticated and classy I must admit, but now I’ve got a vision of you sat in the lounge bollock naked watching master chef that’s put me right off my food😂

When did you install the bloody webcam!?!?:shakingfist:

Of the men still think the ship pilot's in with a chance, but the other guy no way, he's fragile.

Agreed the pilot as been consistently good the same as Pooky the Thai lass, John’s been very complimentary about her food and I think I’m right in saying as a young chef in Australia his forte was Thai food or version of.

Eddie please but I think they have wanted Pookie from the start. Theatricals often work.

I agree, the American guy with the waxed 'tache who won several years back irritated the shite out of me for that reason.

Right decision today but I think Ioan is on borrowed time, far and away the weakest of those left. Of the other four I'd actually like, in terms of how much I've warmed to them....anyone but Pookie; but I think she's the teacher's pet as it stands.

I can't stand Wallace. You know what is coming next with his expressions and the cliches he'll spout. Torode isn't much better. Probably needs new presenters.

How about switching a bit? Put the SAS: Who Dares Wins guys in charge of Masterchef and Wallace and Terrode in charge of the special forces stuff....I actually feel a pitch to channel 5 coming on😂.

Heston is proof of that theatricals work in the culinary world they say you eat with your eyes, yet taste is the most important thing, and if you can get both of these elements right visually fantastic and taste fantastic as the diner this can sometimes blow your mind.

Pooky nearly blew it resting her perfectly cooked salmon on a still turned on hot plate, you would be devastated if that cost you your place in the final, Mike’s favourite looking contestant messed up her consommé these small mistakes will cost going forward, not that Mike would mind I think he would drink her dish water given the opportunity 😍

Who's your money on for falling at the last fence tonight then guys? Fairly certain I think that, barring total disaster, Pookie and Eddie are certs for the final for me; which one of the other two I'm unsure.

Meanwhile, in the O kitchen tonight I'm making king prawns and mussels with mushrooms in white wine, cream and garlic sauce with sautéed jersey royals and peas (hold the peas for Josh as he's not a fan, though weirdly he loves the mushy variety). Greg and John would love it:D🏆.

They need to get me on as a judge! Three of the final four from the first two groups and one from the fifth, I said weeks three and four were off the pace😎

2MB isn't enough for an SMS or post, let alone a photo
