Fulham 12th August (Home)

I am optimistic. Frustrated like everyone else but at least we created lots of great chances. For much of Last season we were toothless....Danjuma will get up to speed, DCL will contribute in some way, McNeil will be back etc. so reasons to be positive even if it was a kick in the teeth to not take advantage.

PWe should have won this game but things will get a lot tougher from here. Fulham are a leaky side who without Mitrovic scoring regularly will be in a relegation battle this season.

Villa are another side that will give us some space in behind and if we get Danjuma sharp and ready, we have another chance of hitting them on the counter. Don't let the scoreline from yesterday fool anyone though, they are a very decent side.

We should have been out of sight in the first half we created great chances, but not surprisingly we never converted, it’s been our Achilles heel for the last two seasons why it would be different this season playing the same team is beyond me. Without wishing to appear unrealistic we’ve got two and half weeks left to get someone in to put the finishing touch to all our good work. Consistency is so important for the last two years we have definitely been consistently shite in front of goal, to change that position you have to make changes to effect it yesterday’s game showed once again we haven’t made those changes or adjustments. Bar Young that team was last season’s team and we managed to dominate the first half and should have gone in 2-3 up but because we didn’t change again our biggest problem of the last two years we lose the game. Am I wrong in believing that we should have thrown every penny we had at bringing a striker in who’s ready to come in and put away the undoubtedly stonewall chances we created. Sorry for being an unrealistic fan.

Yes you are very wrong Palf.

We do that when we are already under scrutiny and we get relegated either automatically or have a massive points deduction. Would be absolute suicide.

We 100% need to stop doing the same stupid things we have repeated year after year.

Our board has been unrealistic for years, I expect better from our fans.

What are the same stupid things in your opinion?

Throwing money at players just to get them over the line. As you said above.

Any player that comes in, no matter how he has played for his previous team is a massive risk and we CANNOT throw money at them anymore. They will relegate us for doing that.

We need to carefully plan who are our targets and set a price. Once we got that price and they say no…. Then we must move on. We need to act like business men not like we’re buying a carpet from Turkey.

So you’re walking around your house and it’s freezing and you desperately need a carpet so you don’t die from hypothermia, but instead you keep buying fridges and freezers because there’s an abundance of them and they are cheaper, does that sound like a great plan. So why keep bringing in more wingers to play the ball into areas for a striker you haven’t got, in business terms that’s like saying I’m a taxi firm that doesn’t own a car, We proved again yesterday that what we need is a reliable striker, we made more than enough chances to win 2 or 3 games so why the need for more wide players, we needed to throw everything we had at getting that striker in we can all see we need, then with what’s left over start looking at reinforcements for areas that are not so desperate.
