Absolutely embarrassing "debate" on here this afternoon, proper Evertonian of some people to actually get up in arms about a player having the audacity to run into the box with the ball and stick it into the back of the net. I can only imagine the the trauma and upset that has been caused by Everton comfortably beating Arsenal, Chelsea and United - fingers crossed we get battered by Palace at the weekend to put people back in a good mood.
I suppose by the logic of some at the moment we should also be hurling abuse at Lucas Digne for shamefully volleying a ball from the outside of the box rather than looking for a pass, looking to sell Gylfi for shooting from miles out when it would have been more sensible to wait for a striker making a run and I personally don't want to hear the name Richarlison after a ridiculous bicycle kick that nine times out of ten wouldn't have worked. Unless he's dropped and improves his decision making I won't be setting foot in Goodison Park ever again.
I don't post on here much but when I do log in there are some proper weird agendas knocking about - Liverpool and City forums will have rants about how they can win the league, United fans will be debating if Ole is the right man for the job and on ToffeeTalk there's folk booting off about us scoring. To be perfectly honest as the goal panned out in the ground I thought that Theo should have passed but fair does for putting it into the back of the net, when viewing it back on the TV he made the right choice as DCL was under pressure and probably wouldn't have got to the ball.
If we ever win the league, I'm convinced we'd have complaints on here that Jagielka didn't hold the trophy high enough - Jesus absolute wept.

Only Evertonians can find a way of moaning about the fourth goal we scored against Man Utd.

I’ve watched DCL shoot in ridiculous situations when there are better options on, and he would never have squared that for another player yesterday. And I wouldn’t have wanted him to!
This moaning and questioning is entirely about it being because it was Walcott, who isn’t liked all that much (I don’t rate him highly myself), and DCL up there with him and is liked and seen as a good egg (I’m a fan too).

It's going to be fun if we ever make the top 4 and have no experience of playing European football beforehand.
By fun, I mean a fucking embarrassment.
I wish our fans would embrace these challenges and see that these steps are needed, like they do in other countries.

Might be common sense here but we need to finish as high as possible in the league EVERY season.  Could care less about Europa or getting top 4 once.  Want see consistency and the term "best of the rest" laid to rest.  NSNO!

The club needs to be competing regularly in Europe (Europa league qualifying or otherwise) if it wants to be a big player and break into the league’s current top 6 teams. Playing regularly in the Europa league is how we’re going to expand our squad, lure bigger names to our team and actually become a league contender again.
If you want us to finish 8th this year to avoid playing in Europe you may as well starting hoping for 8th place finishes every season.

I think you will find that The Shite also got to the final after coming through the group stages the year before, so it’s not quite the lost cause you are making it out to be
Money is not my primary motivation, winnng trophies is and you don’t get one in the league unless you are champions, but what the extra money ( we still get the money from the Premiership) does do is help us achieve a greater wage budget so we can go after better quality players whilst keeping in tolerance of FFP.
In short playing in Europe is an essential step in developing the club

I was glad to finally see Richarlison played on the right. Leaves Bernard/Lookman to play their naturally position on the left, forces Richo to look infield for teammates more often, rather than go it alone, and most importantly it keeps Theo off the teamsheet 🤣

He shouldn’t be that no matter what. We always leave it too late replacing players and fazing them out. It pisses me off.

Needs a wage increase because he performed a miracle yesterday and did something he shouldn’t be physically capable of. Scoring from outside the penalty area. And with his right foot

Everton made the New York Times today.  A couple wonderful points:
1.) Everton makes its players sign an agreement to participate in community events; and
2.) At one point Tom Davies had to be reminded to leave an event but said, "I'm busy coloring unicorns."
I love this club more than anything other than my wife.

Martinez' first season we did. It was some of the best football I'd ever seen us play and I genuinely thought we were going places. But then for 2 years we played utter shite football that bored me to tears.

If only he had smashed that shot into the back of the net... Cant help but think we had a much better chance with one of the players to his left.
Nice to see him come in and play well today. That is the level he needs to hit week in week out.

I don’t know if it’s a tactical decision or a failing of Sigurdsson himself, but he absolutely has to get himself more involved in games. At least when he gets played as one of the holding mids he actually presents for the ball regularly, but then his defending in that position isn’t up to standard (although the same goes for Gomes unfortunately).

Unless Sigurdssen scores you struggle to notice him most games. Shocking he's been given a chance every week.
Looking at the stats even when he scores he doesn't effect the result enough. Most of them are token. He's scored winners against Cardiff and most memorably Leicester but his other 7 haven't swayed the result. Of his three assist only one changed a defeat to a draw. If he was doing more for the team over the 90 I'd not highlight the lack of impact his goals make but considering he's invisible for most games and the justification is he pops up with a belter, it's damning that he offers even less than I thought. What's the point in playing him for a consolations goal.
It's time to give someone a chance to help the team.

“I just wanted to be a professional soccer player in Europe, lo and behold Manchester United offered me a contract so I grabbed the nearest pen and I signed it," Howard said. "Things didn’t work out there for me, so it was time for me to move on. Little did I know, the single greatest thing to happen to me after my children was to sign for Everton Football Club. Who would have known that? I spent a decade there, Everton has a piece of my heart that can never be relinquished.”
    Nice that.
