Vranny reacted to MikeO in Difficult one this, but on balance feel the need to post it....
Not been overly active recently 'cos it's been a bit tough for the last week or so, since the last chemo eight days ago to be exact.

Woken up this morning feeling a lot better though....happens like that apparently...days of crap and then "miraculously" you wake up one morning and get yourself back.

Twenty-three radiotherapy sessions down now and just the twelve to go; plus one more chemo and I'll be bouncing off the walls again .

I personally think that at the very least the Europa League would serve as a good way of getting some game time into our promising younger players (eg.: McAleny, Lundstram, Duffy), as well as for the likes of Oviedo, Gibson and Kone to help return to full fitness before being thrown back into the Premier League next season. Obviously if Martinez sees fit to give the comp a really go if we can qualify for it next season, than that could be great too.

Think Martinez has been waaayyyy to kind letting go of Jela to give him some game time for the world cup before bringing in a replacement. Lukaku looked ridiculous jaded for the entire second half (as did most of the team mind).

Hoping this Traore lad's hammys are in better nick than what's being reported. We desperately need some fresh legs in the team.

Can really see why Rom was used off the bench so often for WBA last season.

Hopefully either of McGeady or Deul can quickly come into the team as an attacking midfield trio of Mirallas, Pienaar & McGeady/Deul looks pretty good to me.

That's how teams become healthy financially. The richest people in the world never got that way by splashing out. Being careful and looking for value has been their lifetime habit.

I'd just like to see him get more game time on the wing from off the bench. He's one of our pacier wide players (not saying much) so he'd be a good counter-attacking option later in games.

I think he's been a bit hard done by from Martinez, only getting the one opportunity from the bench (that game against West Ham) before he got starts due to Baines' injury.

After such a big week for Roberto and his wife I think it's a credit to him that he has just become a father for the first time and delivered such a good peformance from our beloved team.

I agree, we need to keep hold of Mirallas because before he was Martinezerised he looked like a quality player

New and improved table below. Just give me a heads up if anyone thinks they've been wrongly scored.

@Matt turns out a rank() equation was what I was after, but cheers for trying with the vlookup suggestion

Lallana would actually be a brilliant foil on the left for Baines in the England setup I reckon. I couldn't think of a genuine partner for Baines the other day when discussing the English national team with a friend, but Lallana certainly fits the bill.

Del in for Mirallas against Crystal Palace next week for me. Good game to give the lad a start, while also giving Mirallas a well earned boot up the arse.

Right you are. Think I assumed you prediction was for the spurs game at a glace. Updated table below.

Probably but I don't have a clue how to use that code I'm not the greatest with excel unfortunately.

Vranny got a reaction from Steve_E in Name a player you think is underrated from each of the 'top five' European leagues
I haven't been following other leagues for a couple of years, but a few players from the Premier League spring to mind:

Per Mertesacker - Rightly slated for being off the pace in his first season at Arsenal. Too slow, turning circle of a tank, not dominate enough in the air. But his turn around in his second and so far third season in the prem have seen him become the leader in defence that Arsenal have been screaming out for for years. Has been the most solid and reliable of Arsenal's centre-backs over the last year or so and provides a nice contrast to Koscielny's rashness in the gunner's back-line, with his own defensive solidarity and composure.
Morgan Scheindlerlin - Flies right under the radar this fella. Seems to have avoided all the hype that other Southampton youngsters like Shaw and Clyne have received after the Saints debut season in the Premier League, but provides a solid base (along with Wanyama this term) for Southampton's midfield to be built upon. Great young deep-lying playmaker that still brings a lot to the table defensively (bit like Barry in that regard). I'd absolutely love him at Everton if we could some how steal him away. Fabian Delph - Seems to have finally found his feet this season after his move to Villa from Leeds all the way back in 2009 at 19 years of age. Shows a great deal of class on the ball for central/defensive midfielder (comparable to Dembele at spurs), probably a relic from his days spent as a winger at Leeds. Provides a good amount of energy in the centre of the park with his interceptions and tackling when off-the-ball, while his dribbling is a great asset for the villians in their favoured counter-attacking style of play. Could be a smokey for the English world cup squad, though I doubt he'll get the amount of attention he deserves while plying his wears at Aston Villa.

New table following the Villa game. Only one perfect score last week from PeterH.

Also does anyone know how to create a code on excel to give automatic positions (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd) in a column based on the TotalPoints tallies?

He's also surprisingly good in the air for a wide player. Something that Hull might look to exploit with Baines likely to line up on him. Wouldn't mind it at all if he can't get up for this one.
