AlbanyNYToffee reacted to SpartyBlue in Summer Transfer Window
I agree that we need to bring in a striker but the idea that we can’t win with DCL up top is demonstrably false. We had our best run of form vs. top 6 competition in years with him as our striker.

Hell of a price for a guy we bought for 6m. I love gana he has been one of my favorites, I will miss him but I wish him the best as he plays for the team of his dreams.

"Of course, if PSG aren't willing to meet the asking price then no problem, as everyone would be thrilled to see the tackling tornado....stay and be part of an improving, hungry squad."
Not quite "everyone"😂
Good article though, sums up the dilemma well.

I don’t want to sign older players as such but we’re talking about someone who was on the most recent shortlist of 30 for the Ballon D’or e.g the best players in the world! We’re not talking about Defoe or Andy Carrol - this is one of the best strikers in the world! Brands and Silva have alluded to the fact that we’ll target players under 26 but if the right ‘more senior’ players present themselves then we’ll be flexible.
I personally don’t see him leaving Juve but if the chance did arise, we’d be foolish to pass it up.

'DELPH NO GUEYE REPLACEMENT'
Everton boss Marco Silva has insisted the signing of Fabian Delphfrom Manchester City does not mean Idrissa Gueye is set to leave the club.
Delph joined on a three-year deal for a fee believed to be £9m on Tuesdayand is expected to compete for a midfield berth at Goodison Park after spending much of the end of his time at City as a makeshift left-back.
"Gana (Gueye) is still our player and, of course, if we lose Gana then we have to sign a player to replace him because you are talking about one player playing almost all of the games in our squad," Silva said.
"If it will happen then we have to replace him, it is not because we have signed Fabian Delph."
The fact he says 'if we lose Gana' means it's likely to happen. He is one of my favorite players in the squad, however i think selling to PSG is best for EFC and the player.

Expect the away kit to be released prior to Wigan game. We're playing at the DW and their blue and green of course so unless we're playing shirts and skins or wearing training tops seems like we should have an away kit by then.

Actually really liked the home kit last season, hoping for similar quality.

Delighted with this...
1. He didn’t want to play for Everton
2. The Russian league sucks, his ability is not good enough for PL.
3. 4 mil profit and sell-on clause. Amazing.

Absolutely perfect move for the club. 365 days from now we will know without a doubt whether we have a player worth keeping or not. A loan to a championship side wouldn't have answered those questions. Burnley wouldn't have either given their style.

if he wants to go now is the best time. we get max profit from the sale and can get a replacement now before preseason. i love Gana but if he wants to go he has earned the right to.

Bingo. He could not play a game this season and we could still profit a minimum of 5m off him next summer if he wants to leave.

AlbanyNYToffee reacted to Keith B in Path to Top 6
To answer the original question, yes, Everton might be able to crack the top six:
1.) The main issue is about us, Everton. As some have stated above, we were collectively optimistic going into Koeman's second season. That didn't turn out so well. The big question: Does the finish to this season suggest Silva's system is beginning to click or a run of luckier than usual results? Secondly, on this point, can Everton find a right back, striker, and cover for Gylfi at the 10? Does Brands decide to roll the dice on DCL at striker? Can Brands find the Digne and Benards again this summer? If we can't sign Zouma, can Mina stay healthy for 30 minutes? And if Mina can stay healthy, can he be as good as Zouma?
2.) United are an absolute mess. They'll splash a lot of cash this summer, but I don't think their management has any idea what they are doing so those dollars may not be well spent. I think they can be passed in the table, assuming their transfer policy is as incompetent as it has been over recent years.
3.) Chelsea might get hit with a transfer ban. Hazard is likely going out and he has been one of the best, if not the best, player in the EPL over the past several seasons. That's not easily replaceable. I don't know exactly how they replace that and even though I love Christian Pulisic (I'm American), he ain't it.
4.) Spurs, who I hope play the best game of their collective lives on June 1st, are due for a dip. Their main guys play a lot of minutes and managers are a genius until they aren't. As someone stated above, Klopp left Dortmund in the middle of a season when Dortmund were in the relegation zone. Could we see a similar drop-off from Spurs? I seriously doubt it, but crazier stuff has happened.
5.) Arsenal: Still can't defend but I'd expect they do something in the transfer market to address it. Auba turns 30 next month and pacey strikers don't typically age well. Oh and he wore out his welcome at Dortmund by missing practice and generally being a dipshit. Also, are we sure Emery is a decent manager? (He probably is)
6.) Maybe Liverpool slips a bit. I can't see how Real Madrid doesn't come after Salah, but what do I know. They seemed to get every lucky break this year save the Stones goal line clearance. Don't see City slipping at all and in fact, they might even strengthen their side in an attempt to win a quad.
Wolves, Watford, and Leicester will all be thinking the same thing though.

AlbanyNYToffee reacted to markjazzbassist in Twitter Transfer Rumours
Not even the top 6 have good backups. Willy caballero? Michel vorm!!! Mignolet, Sergio Romero, Claudio bravo, etc none are good enough to challenge their 1st keeper, most are older and collecting a check and are an insurance policy against injury.
barca with ter Stegen and cilleson and Real Madrid with navas and courteous the only ones with actual competition. We aren’t close to that level.

This year's home shirt is my favorite since 08-09. Absolutely loved this one and will miss it. I have faith in Umbro to produce another good one. They've done a good to great job these last 5 years.
