Based on what I have saw in an Everton top...he looks a lot better than what I read.

based on the amount of stick he gets just being able to tie his shoelaces would exceed some peoples expectations. I think he's a decent player - decent. Not amazing, not poor.

I must've imagined when we were disorganised during EPL games last season then!

It's because I'm not watching, I'm convinced of it. I didn't watch the Swindon game and we were good, but watched us against Stoke and Arsenal and we were shite .

"If" this is true - (I for one would love to know how it's got out). I kinda understand, Rom is on a well publicised £75k a week, jags £60k as well as Coleman I believe.

The lad deserves parity with top earners IMO. It's the way the game has gone, more tv money = more agents mischief.

Sorry mate was replying to Steve. You must have got your post in first.
    I do agree with you.

Assistant manager bigs up new players ability, non story for me.

Personally I think he'll play wide left, in the way Pienaar did. To act as a pivot for the left back and for the number ten, giving us the creativity Baines and Pienaar had with slick interplay, but with the freedom for Tom to step inside. While on the right its outright pace with Seamus and either Kev or Gerry.
We do need that player in between, I doubt it will be Tom. More than likely it will be Ross with McCarthy and Barry behind him until TDD when he tries to bring in his real target. Ultimately with Ross dropping deeper next to McCarthy.

Just trying to apply some logic of Martinez's previous moves and positions other players have played in before. I might be wrong, who knows.

Basically Gerrard and Scholes are the best 2 midfielders England have had since Gazza and there hasn't been anyone close to them.

Scholes was the better of the two IMO.

McCarthy is more of a Keane type player, you wouldn't compare Keane to Gerrard so I don't see the point in comparing McCarthy to Gerrard.

If he gets goals to his game and gets more forward then he has potential to be a real eye opening player.

Wherever he plays just play him in that one position and stop moving him about.

Agreed. But he needs to be allowed to learn the position.

This is going to be a nervy window. Kev McCarthy and Stones could all go and could bring 60+mill in with them. And im not sure how much i trust roberto with replacing them.

Team built to his strengths. He'll be useless at Liverpool if they don't use wingers and stevie long ball has gone.

What I meant by make them (him) a supervisor was put him on the coaching staff in some respect.

I think he still has a lot to offer on the pitch this season but a new contract is a moot point; for the moment he has one and at some time next year Roberto will decide if he merits another. If he doesn't then no argument, no playing contract but keep him at the club.

I've been at my current employer for 17 years, thing is if I ain't as good as what I was I certainly won't be getting a wage. Why should footballers be andifferent... They get a testimonial ffs, signing on bonus, win bonus, get taken on holidays.

It really is a different life. I like Leon I do, but when his annual salary is more than me and my wife will earn in our lifetime it is a joke. Especially given that my wife is a children's nurse it puts things into perspective.

"Vision" can not be fluked - the ability to see the ball was coming to him in that situation, the awareness to see the run and the pass required in a split second was the most impressive thing. Technique was second to the first part, that can be fluked but as said, it was secondary to a moment of outstanding vision.

It was similar in many ways to Bracewells over the shoulder pass in 1984-1985 season game against Sunderland, wasn't necessarily the execution it was the awareness and speed of thought. Awareness can not be fluked.

Controlling a ball can be a fluke absolutely.

His goal against WBA at The Hawthorns suggests he does have a right foot. And his debut goal against West Ham and his header against the shite at Goodison (an absolute bullet) suggest he can head the ball very well. They're just things he needs to work on and improve on.

Players aren't perfect. They have some things that they're good at and other things that they're not so good at. Be grateful for what he's good at instead of concentrating on the bad about him.

It's not even just about Lukaku. Our fans did it with Yakubu too and it got on my tits.

I'm going to regret this post aren't I? I can feel the ramifications - just when I think I'm out, they drag me back in!

He'd probably find his goal scoring touch and score a shitload of own goals.
