Looks an unintentional  challenge, but a bit clumsy. If Warnock has a gripe, it should be with the officials now Jarrod.

He is a far better striker than DCL in my opinion and he would probably be the starter.
A lot of people look at his goal record and think that is all he is (a goal scorer) but he has great feet, he works his arse off and he reads the game very well.

Giroud of Chelsea like - exactly what we need. Someone who can come on for the last 20minutes as a 2nd striker if needed or as someone to hold the ball up the pitch to help us see a game out. I’d love another young up and coming striker but use Kean and last season as an example - when he came on as a sub, he didn’t make an impact - he probably didn’t get enough chances really but when he did, he didn’t do enough. Getting in a Dzeko/Giroud type guarantees quality - you know what you’re getting. We need another young striker too but as a short-term signing, he’d be perfect.

I’d take the £10m, I’m always hopeful he will come good, but he never seems to do enough for me, not consistent enough, I know this will annoy many but I’d pay the same for Josh King who I think is far more versatile and consistent, wouldn’t pay him a big salary as has been reported though.

Trouble with Lamptey is he is going to cost a premium now. Even though he has looked decent enough - he's not played a significant amount of games to show any sort of consistency at the top level, he is young and as others have eluded to - he is quite small. Time to have purchased Lamptey was 12 months ago when Chelsea sold him to BHA. Cheslea have Reese James, so Lamptey surplus to supply with them.
We just need to be on the lookout for the next Lamptey or Reese James!!

I agree with this too, as uninspiring as it is there are still a lot of players on big contracts that need to be cleared out before we can go again; Delph and Bolasie the two that spring to mind.

It did, I just wish he improves his overall decision making. He did all that good work but then didn’t look up and crossed it in to an empty box and possession was lost. In the time he made the run two players had managed to get forward (not as far as the box) and we could have kept the ball better. He’s definitely improved but I hope what we have now isn’t the end product.

It was really good to see us perform in a disciplined manner.
Mina looked very good as did Keane.  We have a good mix of centre halves.
James Rodriguez passes the ball like Paul Scholes did for United, the vision and ability to execute is on another level to anything we have seen at Everton in a long long time.  His football brain is unreal.

Has anyone improved as much as Keane since Carlo came in? Unbelievable.

And, again, give James the ball and he can make things happen, but he needs running. Him and Digne doing a job tonight.

Gomes did brilliant to win the ball in the middle but then tried to draw a foul and gave it away.  All he had to do was make a simple pass and we were clear of danger.  Smarten up.

Better than I expected so far, no one brilliant, no one stinking the place out, just need to up the play in the final 3rd and be more clinical

The whole team pretty much went missing after we scored at one point people were thinking how many are we going to get in the first 10-15 minutes, which then soon turned to will we lose this.
I agree to an extent with who ever pointed out Gomes and Davies together doesn’t work, ideally you would want Doucoure and Allan, and at a minimum either one of them with Gomes or Davies.
Doucoure was effective and the midfield duo became more effective as a unit and I believe that would have been the case if it was Gomes who went off in stead of Davies to a large degree we just had to change the partnership of Gomes and Davies.

Problem with all of these exciting players from the continent is that January is not the market to buy them in unless they’re nearing the end of their contract or you can get someone out of favour (usually loan to buy) or with a release clause. Yes, the January market can help transform a season - see Fernandes to Man U for instance but it’s not a market many teams invest as much in and many teams will charge a January premium with it being mid-season. Josh King could be a very smart, low risk, short-term fix. No, he’s nobody’s first choice but his versatility and proven ability to do well in this league would have and could still come in handy on say a 2.5 year contract.

Who is available with Prem experience and a proven goal scorer in that league and is happy to be no.2 to DCL, who rarely gets injured?

So you buy someone who's better than DCl, DCL gets dropped and moves on to Man U, we are still stuck in the same position - just rotating money around. New player who replaces DCL could be shite - stuck with said player and an unhappy DCL or  a DCL who is now on fire at Man U because we have moved him along.

I understand your argument but this only really works in positions where there are more than 1 playing each game. We can't afford 50m+ strikers to use as backup or swapsies with DCL.

A swap for JonJoe is ok with me, King would be a better back up striker than Tosun, he can also play wide if needed.

There's always a risk in football that you get sucked into playing the opposition's game as opposed to playing your own - that's what's happening here. Rather than taking an extra touch, moving the ball around at our own pace and managing the game we're being sucked into the hit and hope / 90mph football that Rotherham want to play (and as a result are second best).
We just need to knock the game back down to first gear, retain possession and move the ball around - let the ball do the running for us. We need to do everything we can to play the Premier League way, as opposed to being sucked into lower league football.
