Fuck stats? They always speak the truth! Is Mirallas has the most assists, it means that he has created chances for his team mates, just as Lukaku has scored the most. Another stat for you. Everyone is just beating down on Mirallas for no reason except that he isnt as good as last year.
We only have 4 points out of 3 games. Lost points in 2 very winnable matches, Sunderland and Stoke. Its not just Mirallas fault.

pete0 reacted to MikeO in Can Everton win the league?
Useless stats I just researched (because it's the sort of thing I do when I'm bored ).
In the premier league thirty-eight game era the average points total of the team finishing in fourth place has been 67.67 (so we'll call it sixty-eight).
That's not really representative of what a team has needed to finish fourth, because (for example) LIverpool finish fourth with seventy-six points in 07/08 but they were eleven points clear of us in fifth.
Lowest total was Liverpool in 03/04 with sixty.
Anyway, my personal conclusion from all of this is that I reckon sixty-eight points this season will almost certainly be good enough for fourth, possibly even third, because of the closeness at the top and teams taking points off each other. That means we'd need another thirty-two points (eg W9, D5, L5) from the second half of the season.....which I think is setting the bar low.
In short. Excited :jump for joy: (and you have to be very sad to be excited by statistics).

Bad form is relative too considering he's been by far our most creative player with 5 assists (sharing the 6th spot in the league) and 29 key passes (13th in the league). He's also improved his pass accuracy compared to last season and is our most accurate passer on the wing. He's at 82% pass accuracy this season, Pienaar is at 81, Deulofeu at 75 and Naismith at 65. Yet he puts in more crosses per game than them (1.5, compared to Pienaar's 0.4, Naismiths 0.2 and Deulofeu's 0.2). Pienaar does touch the ball a lot more per game, but he's much more of a playmaker than a traditional winger. He dribbles more than Pienaar and Naismith, yet loses the ball less than Pienaar per game and less than Naismith if you'd take into account that he plays less minutes per game than Mirallas. As long as Mirallas does something with the ball when he has it, I'm fine with his performances. He just needs to get into the box more himself imo to get some goals.

When asked about £50m for Barkley, Martinez has just replied, "£50m? We won't be letting him go out on loan in January!"
Brilliant!!!

pete0 reacted to Bailey in Aiden McGeady
I just don't see the point in paying anything for a very average player.
With all due respect to him, we have Naismith for that role at the moment who can come in and do a job when needed. If we are going to spend any money, then it has to be on someone who will improve what we have.

pleasantly surprised by alcaraz...will definitely soften the blow of losing jags for a month with performances like that
coleman just can't do anything wrong at the moment...rivals zabaleta as the best right back around for me
mccarthy...just wow...he said he'd step it up in the absence of barry and boy did he..awesome run and flick for the goal too
oh and saw someone else say this too..naismith is awesome in the air for his size

With Matt, Alcaraz for me.
Little game time, returned from long injury, told to take the captains position, slotted straight in with no fuss and won many arial duels.

pete0 got a reaction from Bailey in Martinez won't last the season
Can't believe anyone is still defending this article. It's standard one-sided DM bullshit to cause a debate between the naive or idiots and people stupid enough to argue back, sort your life out and form a decision with your own brain. (I won't comment again on this shite article as it's talksportesc). Any genuine arguments welcome though.

moments like this, which seem more and more common over the last 5-10 years, make me feel incredibly grateful to have Kenwright as our chairman, despite his/the boards failings over the years...

pete0 reacted to rubecula in Best Christmas moment
What is your best Christmas moment relating to Everton this year?
For me it has to be Phil Thompson having to say something nice about Everton on Sky Sports News.
He tried to wriggle out of it but he couldn't ....
Q. "Is Seamus Coleman the most improved player/right back in the premier league?"
A. "No. He has always been great"
Thanks Phil LOL

I don't like the word "apologist" but to tell the truth he's quoted the facts that back up his argument and ignored the ones that don't, so (as I said) it's a very unbalanced article.

With only two days to go, I'd like to wish you all a very merry Christmas. Hope you have a wonderful time with your families (including the newest members of your family) and friends.
I have to say it now, otherwise i'll be too hammered to type come the actual day.
Season's cheer and that jazz, thanks for a great year on the forum lads and here's a little video that I think most of you will enjoy.

pete0 reacted to Matt in Leighton Baines
sounds like he will waltz back in, which is disappointing. Bryan didnt have the best game yesterday (wasnt bad either) but shouldnt lose out so quickly. I hope theres a little rotation going between the 2 over the holiday period, its the only fair way in my opinion.

pete0 reacted to Bailey in Swansea
I think he does a lot of work that goes a bit unnoticed at times too. He makes some really good runs and at the moment he has really got the service. Mirallas had a couple of golden opportunities to play him into a goal scoring position but took a shot himself (or lost it). He might not be getting the goals but in truth he isnt having many shots either. His contribution to the team with his allround play is still vital IMO.
He does have an issue judging the flight of a long ball though.

Hi guys, firstly I would like to say well done to your away support today, the best I have seen at the Liberty.
Secondly, great game today, you beat us with 2 great finishes.
Now, the reason I wanted to post on here....our joke of a steward.
We are located in the East stand, to your left, where all the singing starts.
We could not believe what we were seeing when that idiot threw out that young lad that gave the ball back to Gerry. We were all booing and chanting to let him back in.
Anyway, please accept this apology on behalf of all right minded Swansea fans.
One day, we may beat you in the Prem.
BTW, you have a great manager there in Martinez, he is doing a great job and I can see you in CL next season if you carry on the way you are going.
