load of shite, Baines has had the performances that have proven him for that position.

Baines wouldn't get dropped unless he had a particularly bad run of games which doesn't happen too often for him. The best thing for Garbutt is that he gets a full season of proper competitive football that will really help him improve his game.

i don't see how anyone can see this as a negative, yes he's a good talent and could be useful to us this season but it's hardly like were playing some shite bag in the team while he sits on the bench.

I don't really see the thing with "favourites" in our side either, besides Barry I don't see anyone that played all that many games when they shouldn't have been last season. Team selection was erratic at times but all of the midfield got benched at some point last season and in defence there's little competition, Stones came through ahead of Distin while Coleman had no competition and Garbutt got games when Baines was injured.

Who should have been getting more games that wasn't?

probably Romey because that is the opening bid and he is well aware that they would bid higher.

I don't see us letting him go cheap though. We'd be foolish to let him go for less than the 40m i mentioned.

I'd say 40 would be absolute minimum and I'd put add-ons into that as well.

apparently Snodin is his advisor/agent so i'm sure he'd push him our way.

I'd be sad to See Coleman go but this lad sounds decent and younger than Coleman. Need to get maximum fee for Coleman if he's to go though.

I've waited long enough to change my stance on him. I have been watching him and his actions/words and i'm afraid he appears to be completely lost. Some managers need momentum to get results and Martinez is one of them. He isn't dogged enough for this.

At the moment he reminds me of a bloke with £20 in his pocket who is in an expensive bar wearing a Hugo Boss suit, looks the part but in reality he has no means to be in the current environment. - he's been asked to get the ale in and now he's exposed.

Her needs to stick a pair of jeans on, get down to Weatherspoons and stop trying to be something he ain't.

Hope Martinez watched and learnt from that performance.

Bolton pressured them from the front early on and never let them settle for too long. When they attacked they attacked quickly and in numbers.

And the best chances (and goal) came from quick break with a fast ball into the box, the Liverpool defence didn't look confident in those situations at all.

On the other side Liverpool continue to be very good on the counter attack themselves which is just how they beat us last season. We could really have done with McCarthy back, while Besic is playing well he doesn't hold his position well enough around the middle. I want to see Coleman and Baines getting forward but they need that cover from Barry and Besic.

1-1 is my first thought but really no idea, we could get completely turned over or we could put up a good fight and get some kind of a result.

Players don't need a new contract every time they perform well.

He has time on it, he's enjoying his football and he seems like someone that would be happy with what he's got anyway.

I'm sure they'll speak to him sometime between January and the summer to sort it out.

You're an Evertonian mate, wear whatever shirt you want and stay true to what you believe. Be yourself, we're a very welcoming group. If you are planning on starting on the beers early, maybe drink around the lime street station area then it'll be easy to get a taxi to Goodison or even hop on the special match day bus. If you want to get served quickly for a few beers then I recommend the taxi club but you'll get a better atmosphere at the brick and 'the people's pub' (Wimslow Hotel). Decent food at the hot wok - often go for a prematch meal there, decent to eat in with a few beers too.

plenty of BIG clubs have press conferences for players signing new contracts. Don't know what the hell people are going on about, it's small clubs that don't need to bother telling people because no one gives a shit about their crap players and their contracts!

If you have a player that others want and your keeping him with a new contract then of course you make a big thing of it!

    can't compete with City...

we've lost to them once in the last 15 games we've played them at Goodison! Won the last 4 times we've played them at home.

Our home results against the top 7 sides this season:

    Beat Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd
    Drew with Redshites and Spurs

We've lost the same number of home games as Liverpool this season and conceded less goals.

It's a tough fixture especially with City gunning for a win that will likely make the title theirs but were more than capable of getting at least a point off of them.

Not sure there's anyone really that can go that would save us any money right now. Hibbert may decide he doesn't fancy watching from the side lines anymore and that he wants to either retire or move on to another club before he retires but his transfer fee would be minimal and his wages I imaigne aren't huge. Actually just checked and Hibbo's contract runs out this summer so he'll likely be off or if he's not interested in playing elsewhere might get a year contract accepting that he's backup and highly unlikely to play.

The only other players that I'd happily see leave the current squad are also all minimal pay/transfer players. Gueye and Vellios probably the only 2. I don't think either are good enough and Martinez clearly goes with this theory as despite having a bit of first team experience neither has got near the side before going out on loan. Actually Vellios will leave us this season as his contract runs out.

The only player who actually plays that I'd consider moving on is PIenaar. He's still performing very well for us at times but is losing his pace now and getting more injuries. We probably wouldn't get a big fee for him though so he maybe better value to keep him rather than let him go.

Hard to know if any players are ready to make the side from the youth team. Martinez made comments about adding Browning and Garbutt to the subs bench as they'd performed so well on loans however he always has a good spin on things and in truth it was as much about as having no other options! It would be good to see Garbutt come through as a good backup option to Baines.

Browning I don't really know much about and only just now looking him up I see he is a right back. Great news as I assume he can take over as backup to Coleman from Hibbert but he's only played 2 games for Wigan and I'm sure could do with a bit more loan time before he is ready to step up.

Of the other youth players there's not a lot currently in the squad that have gained a lot of loan experience. John Lundstram has looked very good for England youth and has had some decent loans but he'd be battling for a position in our strongest area (midfield). Hallam Hope has started well on his loans with some goals but he's only played a few games and that's in league 2, I'd say he needs to play in the Championship before i'd consider weather he has what it takes.

Matthew Kennedy seems a talent who could find himself in the squad during next season and of course George Green though still very young seems to be the main touted next big thing of the academy. both in midfield so will struggle to get much action.

    ---

I'm sure we will look to get a couple of loans. Deulefu would be good if we can secure him for another season, I fancy we will even with Barca's transfer embargo. The difficulty is always finding players who will enhance the team. A decent backup striker would be good but if Kone is fit then game time would be limited (assuming we buy a striker). I'm sure it's something that will be looked at though.

I agree that Martinez has rotated our pretty small squad well. Gibson will be an important player to get back next season as at the moment we would find it hard to cope the way we play without either one of McCarthy or Barry. Osman has covered but can't really be relyed on. Even without injuries those 2 both pick up plenty of bookings and along with extra games for europe there is a big burden on them.

Attacking midfield wise we have good options at the moment and Martinez has been able to rotate well. Defensively there isn't a lot, though Oviedo was showing great promise as an extra left back when Baines was injured. An extra option at right back is needed. On centre backs were not too bad if Alcaraz gets fit and useful. I expect Stones to gradually take over from Distin next season with Jagielka leaving us with Distin and Alcaraz as very good back up.

All in all were not that far off but certainly a few extras are needed and injuries to areas with little backup would be very costly.

I figure we'll win about 10 of our 17 games and draw 4 of the others. that gives us 34 more points and finishes us on 75pts.

That would give us 3rd or 4th place by my reckoning.

The important thing could be who we lose those 3 games to. I'd rather we lost to Sunderland (or any other bottom half team!) than to Spurs/Liverpool/Man Utd or the top 3 sides. Those points taken off them could be vital.

the manager doesn't appear to know his name yet!

“It’s nice to know that people like Ishmael Miller, the young boy from Liverpool and the young boy from Everton have chosen to come to us,” added Johnson

“They’ve heard something about us, they’ve all seen us play, they all know how unlucky we have been and they’ve all decided to ply their trade with us in sleepy old Yeovil.
And I think he'd probably find that they'd have taken any Championship side that was interested and likely to give them plenty of match time Yeovil probably wouldn't have been first choice for any other reason!

No comment on the little Spaniard which surprises me.

Thought he made a real difference when he came on, though obviously we changed our formation a bit when he did with Mirallas going central and Barkley dropping back a bit but he played with a real purpose looking to drive forward at every opportunity and always thinking with an eye for the goal.

The one negative is he needs to look up and play the pass more often, a couple of times he got through very well down the right but tried to get a dinked shot in rather than look to pull it back.

His one on one miss was really disapointing and i was sure he was going to finish it Messi style with a lovely chip over the keeper but his attempt in the end was poor. The run and the pass were perfect and he ran on with it looking fully confident, shame but it didn't seem affect him afterwards.

I'd say he should definitely start on Saturday and wouldn't mind seeing similar to how we finished that game with Mirrallas behind Lukaku, Piennar and Deulofeu on the wings and McCarthy and Barkley in the middle. Barry will likely play left back but if he doesn' then that would change things a bit!
