That window just made his job that little bit tougher.
Burnley had a bigger kitty than us due to FFP.
If he can guide us to a top 6 finish this season with no funds available, it really will be a great achievement.

    Great win away from home.
Was excited before The season started I wasn’t a Carlo fan, I made that very evident on here.

Early days and I won’t get carried away but this is better IMO.

    Onwards and upwards!!

Thanks mate. First time down here, and so far it’s been amazing.
Weather is perfect, place is absolutely stunning! And a win for the beautiful blues.

In my OP I was going to label him Davies MKII but I think Winks is better than that!

Not really.  One player on one quarter of the wages - costing £40m less than the 2 combined provided equalish stats playing for a worse team.

I'm deliberately keeping quiet for now. I'm not comfortable with this at all. But as I've said before, it takes a properly strong character to walk into this storm that he's going to face, and we sorely need that. Every wasted point, the atmosphere will get more and more toxic so he better be a success because otherwise I don't see him being able to live where he wants. Sad but true.
But, I will admit that his interview came across well. Not enough for me to relax or get excited or think "phew, it's not as bad as I thought", but enough to think he's clearly here to do something positive. I don't expect him to last the season, but if he does it will mean it's because he's done well, and so long as he does well he'll get my backing.

Lets not confuse Everton fans with fans wanting Everton to lose. The latter are not Everton fans.

Every Evertonian needs to have an open mind and give him and the team the backing it clearly needs.

I completely understand the divide with the appointment of Rafa, but some have to find a way to get behind him for the good of the team.
Clean slate, blank canvas or whatever you want to call it, Goodison has to be in full support come August 14th or the players and team don't have a chance, nor the manager.
Yes, he's ex shite but he's still a top class manager. Other managers have come and gone and most fans were happy with every appointment ( Bar Sam ).
Still no trophy with all of them for 26 years!!
Peter Beardsley came over from the dark side!! Did fans not cheer any of his 25 goals in a blue shirt! Did Goodison erupt when he scored in the Mo Johnson derby? Or sit in silence because he was ex shite?
Football has come along way since then, but one thing i have learnt in football personally is not to hold on to grudges. If there is a good player or manager who is given an opportunity ( regardless of past alliances ) we have to give them a fair crack of the whip.
Rafa isn't a stupid bloke- he's totally aware of the split with fans and the banners will hit home.
He has a massive point to prove! In sport they do say to be wary of the person with a point to prove!
This is a forum to which everyone has a right to voice their own opinions- rightly or wrongly it's their opinion. I know i will never change fans views on Rafa.
I just hope the fans get behind the team against Saints to show them some support, rather than concentrate on the manager!!!

Top and bottom of it is this.....he has won more trophies than any of our previous managers bar Ancellotti.
We can look at Newcastle China or whatever and try and predict how he will do here..... It makes no odds, we will only know when he starts.
He isn't soft, both he and moshiri know that mediocrity on the level of Ancellottis season will be handled with complete protest.  Moshiri will need to back him, Rafa will demand that.... They are both in a situation where there must be results.
Im quietly optimistic.... But maybe it's wishful thinking

    Hi Guys,
I am a Liverpool fan. I absolutely love Rafael Benitez.
I am thrilled that he has been selected to be your manager. I am sure he will do very well for Everton. While we know that there is lot of animosity between the fans of the clubs, but I believe I am not alone when saying that we wish Everton always does well. We only wish Liverpool does better 😊.
I know he hasn't made the best remarks during his Liverpool days but it was almost a decade back. He must have realised since then that such remarks don't put him in a good light. During this dreaded pandemic, this has come as a good news. I am hopeful that he will be able to convince unhappy and angry fans that he will give his absolute best for Everton.
I especially expect Everton to do well in cup competitions and Europe in addition to finishing up higher than in the recent past.
Good luck guys. Stay safe and take care 🙂 of yourselves.
    Pritam.

Can't believe people are wanting Everton to lose.
I think all those people who call themselves Everton Supporters should just do exactly that and Support Everton.
I wouldn't give two fucks if Micky Mouse was our Manager as long as we are successful, and I think this new Manager will be more successful than the last half a dozen we've had.
    Onward and upward.

I think the fabs kicking off over it are inadvertently going to make it more difficult to recruit managers in the future.
Kevin Sheedy, Peter Beardsley, Gary Ablett and Don Hutchison came to us having been at Liverpool.
Im not arsed that Rafa called us a small club, we called him a fat Spanish Waiter...  Did I want him? No.   Am I happy that he's here? Not really.  Am I going to get behind him? Absolutely.
