Peter H got a reaction from Matt in Leroy Fer
Might as well post it here so that people can read it here instead of in the link Avin posted. If this all is true then we might have dodged a bullet here. Brilliant player but is it worth the hassle. Love the comparisons to Drenthe and Fellaini.

Derksen is a journalist here in NL.
Wilfred Genee is the presenter of the show

Derksen: "FC Twente had good reason to sell him, he of course has a bad knee, he's injury-prone and he missed a lot of games. Twente could also use the money."

Wilfred Genee: "But do they know it in England that he has a bad knee?"

Derksen: "Well, he just didn't play a lot of games and they (Twente) are worried about that, Besides, they think he's a useful midfielder. But Twente needs creativity in midfield and Fer lacks that creativity. So taking that in account, Djuricic (Twente are rumoured to sign him from heereveen to replace Fer) would be a better fit for Twente."

Derksen: "Something rather painfull has come to my attention regarding another source and that's why I called Joop Munsterman (Twente's Chairman) again, but he was not available at that time, time Joop was gone.
There will come a very painfull court case against Fer, It goes back to his Feyenoord period and that case is going to get a lot of attention.
I'm afraid, knowing Joop, who already got this kind of trouble with the Theo Janssen case, and what Fer did isn't just driving trough a red traffic light, it's really a very serious case."

Genee/van der Gijp: "But you do not know what the case is about?"

Derksen: "I know what it's about, but it would be rude to tell that, because my source wasn't allowed to tell me this. If Joop wanted to confirm it? I wouldn't mind going into details. Joop pretends to be crazy and acts like doesn't know about it.

Genee: "But Johan, you do realise everyone is now going to speculate about it?"

Derksen: "I don't care, they can speculate all they want, I'm not going into details."

Derksen: "But anyway, it's going to get a lot of publicity and my personal feeling is that Joop found that out as well and that he thinks that, yeah, it happened at Feyenoord, but it's going to leave Twente with the side-effects. Besides, they are already not too happy with another issue involving Fer having bought a horse for 28.000 euro's yet didn't have a clue what to do with it and were to leave it! Apparently he also seems to involve himself with women a lot in Enschede, last week he was out with Cabral (team-mate of him) and then the police came at his front door. Twente are not very happy with Fer. And that's why they think that ten million is good business for Twente."

Schelvis (guest): "But do they know this at Everton?"

Van der Gijp: "Well, from now on they do! haha."

Derksen: "I think that Rob Janssen (agent) isn't happy about me revealing this because Rob thinks.. there goes my agents fee!

    ...

Derksen: "It's of course really painful from the police and justice as well, it's a rather old case, but in the Dutch judicial system it takes a long time to come to court and it starts in about two months. Feyenoord are also happy that he's gone beacuse now they don't have anything to do with this case anymore."

Schelvis: "But couldn't this mess up the potential transfer to Everton? I don't think Everton are... well, they just got Drenthe out of the club."

Derksen: "I don't think they will get really nervous at Everton because of the fact that he has to go to court here in Holland."

Genee: "They are used to court cases with footballers in England, aren't they?"

Schelvis: "Well, if he has to go to jail, it will be difficult playing in England of course!

Genee: "Fellaini once hit a woman in her face in a disco."

Schelvis: "Than Fer has found the right team to play for it seems!

Genee: "Indeed, it seems like such things don't impress them in England to much!

Hope I've been around here long enough that the author of the thread is recognisable, wouldn't want to upset anyone in regards to who starts the ever-sacred West Brom match thread.

In my opinion we need to blow these fellas off the park to get some momentum going again. We've hit a real lull in this post-Christmas period so far, and scraped in by the skin of our teeth against Bolton. To break into the top 4 we need some momentum, especially before we hit the likes of United at OT, City and Tottenham again. Therefore I would absolutely love to see us play them off the park, but in all likeliness that won't happen.

Also think it's about time Moyes drops Jelavic and plays Vic or Vellios upfront.

Heart says a comfortable 2-0 win.

I feel like people honestly just ignore whatever I post (except duncanmckenzieismagic)..... It was clear what Moyes was doing and it was NOT a defensive substitution.

It was desperate because he decided that we we playing so badly that we needed to have someone up there for out hoof balls but the substitution was not just going to a draw.
I am not saying it was the best idea but he clearly knew what he was doing and it paid off.

Felli playing too far forward. Ossie playing too deep. Peanuts playing too central, Naismith playing in England. And the defence won't pass to neville because he loses possesion so we end up with this horredous long ball stuff. He can't score if nobody gives him the ball in the right place.

Peter H reacted to Quinn31 in David Moyes - sign or go ?
I don't think Moyes is a negative manager. Look how our side plays when Jelavic is in form, and Pienaar, Mirallas, Osman, Gibson are all fit. We are a very threatening side on the attack that can play very positive football. To call him defensive minded is a bit unfair I think because I think for many years with a lack of a solid striker, and creative wingers in the side, we just made due and played compactly and grinded out results.

When have we been a 'mid table' side?

The only teams to finish above us 'regularly' are the big money sides. Everton are better than every other team, some of which have a few quid. When we are all fit, and have a midfielder in the team, we have regularly been compared to Barcelona, and play some of the best football in the league, so it's not as if Moyes doesn't know how to play football. However, opinions are just that, so I won't tell you that you are wrong, even if I think it's a little narrow minded regarding the bigger picture.

Im glad your in the minority,.

That attitude reminds me of the Peter Reid/Man City scenario where he had them in the top 6 but the fickle fans drove him out because they thought they ere better than they actually are and as a result the nosedived straight out of the division

I think Moyes is by far and away the best manager that we could hope for at this point in time , and I also think that a lot of our players are loyal to him. ie lose Moyse lose them

I just dont buty this Moyes is negative/too conservative idea. When we had everyone fit at the start of the season we were probably playing the best attacking football in the country, if not Europe.
Moyse has a ridiculously small squad to chose from and injuries and suspensions were always going to cause us problems ( and get the Moyse bashers crawling out from under their stones at the slightest hint of poor form)

I still think this has been a good season so far and my only gripe is the customary capitulation in the Capital One Cup, Im gutted that he felt the need to throw the towel in by playing the kids at Leeds, especially when you see Bradford City in the final

For me David Moyes has all the atributes to be a top boss, the only unproven quantity is what he would be like with money

I think him and Coleman were also very good together against Fulham, two best players on the pitch if I recall correctly. Unless we actually get someone in who's best position is right wing, I'd keep Mirallas there. Anichebe and Jelavic up front, Fellaini and Osman (or Gibbo if he's fit) in the middle.

It really does sound like us. I still think its Rubin Kazan but they would pay 20 mil upfront and another 1 mil per game he starts for the next 15 years

Peter H got a reaction from Romey 1878 in Steven Naismith debate
He just seems to be chasing the entire time. He can be well placed to begin with, a quick flick of the ball from the opposition and off he goes again, chasing the ball and the opposition. Ive watched him quite closely a few games now and he is just chasing all the time, in circles. Always one step behind. I dont think its his football ability thats wrong, I think its the pace of the game. The prem is to quick for him. He is out of his depth.

    He needs:

    1) pace and a quicker mind, can it happen? Yes if we give him another season. Will it happen this season? No, so dont play him DM
    2) a brain, linked to a quicker mind but more about his positioning and choice of pass. Will it happen this season? It might if he gets more confident, will it? No because of number one which stands inbetween him and his confidence.

I think he will prove to be useful, next season. We shouldnt give up but he has been thrown in the deep end to quickly.

Actually thought Neville played his role perfectly today. Always on hand to stifle their half assed counter attacks. The problem was the substitution. Should have been Hitz on, not Nais. That would have left Felli up top and offered a threat from distance, which, since we weren't breaking them down, we needed.

Fucking shite. Naismith is not an impact player. Fellaini was dropped off to CM when he shouldnt have been, unless Vellios was brought on when he was. Oviedo left on the bench again, when he has the pace and flair to run at tired swansea players. Jelavic couldnt score in a brothel and Anichebe isnt a winger.

DM sort it out. Fair enough Swansea defended really well but lets just play a team who look like they are going to win and for fuck sake will you drop Jelavic - He's not scoring yet he knows hes got that strating spot every game.

    Disgusting.

what can I say, when I play the odds, I play the odds. No point in getting them all right if they are all obvious.
I usually go for the big pay outs. Pretty pointless in this case as you couldnt win any money. My bad, ill pick the obvious upsets next time
