Aaronson is the American I'd have from Leeds. I like him a lot.

I like him and Gnonto (I know he isnt American before someone says it). They should have scored more goals with those two. Aaronson surprised me with how good his feet were. Really good dribbler and in tight spaces.

Palace played with a striker, played 11 players. We played mostly with 10.

Not saying he's perfect. I'm saying there won't be many that are an upgrade in our team for the money we'd get for him.

He's 26, he's gonna find out this summer what he needs to do to get back into Dyches plans (which I think he will be) and we'll see what happens.

Palace went on a run of a handful of games without a shot on target.

I disagree about him, I think a lot of players would be an upgrade because what he promises and what he delivers are completely different things.

We were close to the lowest scoring teams in the premier last season.

We need to add firepower, not get rid of it. Those are the type of decisions why we want to board out in the first place…. Let’s not keep making the same mistakes.

He isn't firepower! 2 open play goals and 0 open play assists is not firepower.

I think it would be a failure of the board to keep a player like this at the club if a good offer comes on the table. I said it last summer too when his value was higher.

Part of our failure as a club has been to not make the most of these opportunities, in the same way Brighton did with us for Maupay or Arsenal with Iwobi. We did it this January with Gordon and that is how we need to operate.

I’m 50/50 on him as well.

Not doing well at the moment and no one else seems to be busting a gut to get him in.

Actually, sounds like a typical Everton signing haha.

Seems he lost his place to Lacazette this season. Whilst I am a fan of Lacazette he didn't exactly light up the league for Arsenal and I wouldn't rate the French and Scottish leagues as a guide to a good goalscorer.

I haven't seen anything of him though so it might just be that he fits our style.

Yeah, similar. Because if you stuck Eze into our current team or last seasons, he'd perform just as poorly. Just like McNeil was awful before Dyche arrived.

Unless of course you're only looking at your xWTF stats.

This implies Palace were a better attacking side for Eze which they werent.

I accept the point about McNeil but there is a reason he starts and Gray doesnt. Gray has shown this pattern his whole career.

I don't need any stats to tell you the issues with Gray, I was telling you all before he signed.

I think most, like myself, would just like him to be given a chance so we can we see if he can be a player for us.

I am sure Dyche will do that but that chance starts on the training ground.

As fans we only get the chance to see them for 90 minutes (or less) on a game day. Many a time I have fallen into the trap of think x,y,z cant be that bad but invariably they are and there is a reason they aren't in the side to start with.

  6. I think Adams has looked a fairly solid player as well, at least when I have seen him. He was good at the World Cup albeit, always a bit skeptical of international performances.

Personally, I think Gana had a poor season. He definitely had good moments but his overall performances have been erratic. I don't expect that from someone of his experience.

I agree, maybe not your £40 -£60M quality midfielder that would drive you to titles and top 4 positions. But we are a long way from that - we need solid dependable players that would keep you out of a relegation battle. We have tried running before we can walk type of transfers in the past. Nothing wrong in stabilizing as a club, with some sensible purchases. I am sure he would need hardly any adjustment time already Prem proven and lives in the area.

Next season all I crave stability. That will hopefully keep us on a even keel going in to the new stadium.

I could honestly see a player like him going to another club outside of those top 4 or 5 and being the mainstay of their midfield for years. He is captain material too.

    It’s the usual press mate.

Small is going to be Englands No1 full back, but wants to leave.

Issac Price is a massive potential, but wants to leave.

Branthwaite is taking Europe by storm, but wants to leave for a permanent move to PSV.

Reality is that our managers have looked at these lads and thought they aren’t ready yet.

I agree. As bad as people seem to think about certain players at the club, there is still a big gap to these young players coming through.

We don’t know who they’ll bring in, why would you assume they don’t have football experience anyway? For me they need big business experience. We have football people like Thelwell and Dyche, so I’d be happy if they brought in people with a proven record of running a world wide brand worth millions.
Bringing in Colin Chong to run a construction project worked, we now need business people to run the business.

For me, im hoping Christian Purslow has had a phone call from us today.

I was commenting on the article that mentioned Bell in particular moving onto the board.

It just seemed a bit like some of our transfer rumours where someone with a relationship to the club, gets a bit of clickbait to get people talking.

Knowledge? Expertise? Why does our current owner have people on the board?

Why wouldnt they bring in people with their own knowledge and expertise?

Given a lot of the frustrations aimed at some members of the board and their experience, bringing in someone with no expertise in football seems contradictory. As an example, you have mentioned the importance of using specialist construction experts in the building of the stadium and how that has lacked in other areas of the club/board. What makes these two any better any running football clubs that the clowns we have at the moment?

  11. I have just read a couple of PSV forums and the impression I get is that he isn't going to be Premier League level at the moment.

He still has a lot to learn and whilst that development may come, there are mixed reviews about spending £7mil on him. He certainly isnt considered their best defender or anything like that.

Most of them got us a point or 3 too.

Let's be really generous and say we get £20m for a 26 year old winger. Who are we getting in for that money who scores and assists more and plays more consistently?

McNeill cost the same and contibuted 7 goals in one season.

Eze signed for £18m and scored 10 goals in his first season for Palace.

    Plenty of players out there.

Generally though Id argue that most wide players in the league can contribute just as much as Gray does. Id also argue that they would be much more team players too and could add more balance to the team generally.

Get Cole Palmer on loan from City. He would do just as well as Gray.
