If we dont watch football with the hope of winning, why watch it at all?
Why do anything if you dont crave success? I want to see Everton win every game we play, as soon as i dont care whether we win or not, i wouldnt see the point anymore.

Sport is all about competition, ask the players in the squad, im sure they will agree. Its not the taking part that counts, thats for kids in school to keep everyone happy, its the winning that counts.

Before I hear someone say if you just want to see a team win then follow United, i dont, I want to see Everton win.

    Sadly, it's for USA only.

USA will have 380 live games televised, England will have 154.

Coleman is 'my' player of the season.

He has been awesome this year, and equally as impressive as Baines.

I dont think the moans are at Moyes replacing Mirallas, its more the fact that he is replacing him with Naismith! The argument is that pace can be an important part of counter attacking late in games and the pace of Mirallas for the plod of Naismith is counterproductive. Although dont let what the majority have said get in the way of bashing the Moyes bashers

Like Haf, I thought he looked pissed when he was hooked against Wigan, and I have never seen him make a signal to the bench other than the time he felt his hammy (against Stoke I think?). Maybe he has a secret signal like they do in Team America. I might have to try and catch some of the replays to see if I can see Mirallas waiving his arms frantically above his head!

Fair enough, but I'm still not a fan of his recent public comments on Mirallas. From my perspective, it would seem to be a confidence-killer -- but at the same time, maybe Mirallas thrives under pressure and Moyes knows this?
I'm beating a dead horse when I say this but: my problem isn't with Moyes subbing Mirallas out; it has to do with who he is subbing in Mirallas' place.

I think justifiably so to be honest - I don't see how going to the press is going to sort out something that should be dealt with inhouse. If I was Mirallas I certainly wouldn't be happy, he busts a gut whilst there a few passengers that could be looked at instead. Moyes seems to want to put the emphasis of him being subbed on mirallas - we will see.

Has to be Jags for me (for captain) -- followed by Baines.

I think it's also fair to say Martinez hasn't bought:-

    Richard Wright £4m
    Bilyaletdinov £9m
    Kroldrup £5m
    Beattie £6m
    Simon Davies £4m
VDM £2m plus £££ in wages

Just getting a balance, Moyes overall has a very good transfer record, Martyn, Arteta, Cahill, Pienaar, Jags, Baines, notable mentions.

I think he brought in Ashley Williams as well for £400k and Mccarthy was £1.2mil... Dont forget he also brought in Cleverly on loan. Not a bad list of players there between the 3 posts!

No-one is doubting Moyes credentials at spotting a bargain, but you cant deny that Martinez has an eye for it too especially when you consider he has to shop even further down the pecking order than we do.

I quite like al habsi, James McCarthy (class) I like the fact that he turned Leon Britton into a class ball playing centre mid when he was a right winger.

Jordi Gomez? Not a bad player for £200k.

Martinez spots technicalky gifted talent and elevates wigans game into playing high tempo, possession football.

He has worked on a fraction of moyes budget when you include players wages.

Not sure about this publicly coming out?

But behind closed doors this would have been a smart move by Moyse.
We all know Mirallas has the ability, he just needs to get his fitness up to prem standards.Once he gets there he has the potential to be a world class player. he just needs to get the Everton mentality engrained in his system then we can watch him ignite.

But at this moment, he may only be in games for spells, but those spells are ending up as goals. Isnt that what all the special players around the world do.

Because of how we play the main striker has a lot more on his plate than scoring goals. He need to be able to hold the ball up, hassle defenders and bring the other players into the game. Vic does this week in week out and while he could have scored more goals, he hasnt actually done that badly this season considering a chunk of his games have been as a sub or out wide.
Mirallas doesn't look like a Premiership striker to me. he needs to be running at players and not have his back to goal. In the few occasions he has played off the striker he has looked average because he isn't strong enough and he doesn't have as much space to run into.

Completely agree. I have gone full circle with him. I loved him when his first broke on to the scene, then got fed up with his attitude and application at which point I would have happily seen him leave. Now he is proving me wrong, more and more with each game and while he will never be a world beater he works hard for the team.
Coleman has been brilliant this season too. I was worried that he just wasn't smart enough to have that defensive responsibility but he has progressed with every performance, proving solid at the back and a real threat going forward. It just shows the importance of game time for these younger players.

Chelsea don't have an easy schedule at all. Man City, @ Liverpool, and @ Man U. It's unlikely, but if things work out in our favor we could end up playing Chelsea in the last game of the season for a CL spot. How cool would that be?

Today's game showed that he needs more game time, not less, or he'll only ever be "nothing more".

The more game time he gets the less eager puppy dog he'll be, the more he'll get an awareness of what's around him without needing to actually see what's around him and therefore not try something that's not on, and not dwell on the ball when he has no time.

Today wasnt a bad thing for Barkley, and not should it be judged that way. He did some things very well and others not well at all. It's a learning curve.

Personally, today has got me eager to see more of him. Despite being of little experience and making mistakes he didn't hide, he still wanted the ball and he still gave his all. He should be encouraged for his display today, not ridiculed.

He didn't just sign a new 3 year deal to turn around and look for a new club.... At the end of the day, he's a learning 21 year old, that's in the mix for games against the best in the premiership!

You don't get a new contract under moyes unless you have something, And he has it!

Just a matter of time before he gets his chance in my opinion !

Duffy has a point. Our defence has been shite, daft set piece goals conceded. The lad has arial ability above any other defender in the squad. There have been opportunities to play him and he hasn't been used.

21 is a good age to be playing first team football, Ferdinand was an £18m player at 21/22. Ratcliffe was everton captain at 23... He's proven his ability in the cameos I've seen.
